  1. Roster starting to take shape. My guess is Dachon, Jervay, Haanif, and Cam take up almost all of the gaurd minutes. Three of those four will almost always be on the court at a time. Maybe even all 4 sometimes. Akol Arop and Matej Kavas will be in the mix at the 4 with Shamiel Stevenson. Yvan Ouedraogo is the only bonafide "5" man have. Stevenson has the weight and length where we use him at the 5 in some matchups as well. If Roby returns, thats 30+ minutes per game filled in the front court.
  2. Agreed. Im not saying Yvan means Roby is coming back. But if he truly is eyeballing the roster like he says, the signing of a 6'9 240# player (I personally question how he will hold up physically as a 17 year old in the Big Ten) is significant to some degree. At the end of the day it will come down to where he thinks he will get drafted. Late 1st/Early Second: doesnt matter Mid/ Late Second: the roster Hoiberg assembles could factor in.
  3. He said he was keeping an eye on what kind of team Hoiberg was putting together. Roby hated playing the 5 in Tim Miles offense (per multiple beat writers that cover Nebrasketbal), but is such a great kid and teammate that he did it anyway. If Yvan can contribute right away thats a strong big bodied player that plays at the 5 and allows Roby (if he decides to return) to play the 4. It might not be the determining factor but it is definitely not unimportant
  4. A couple great game 7's ln. Kawhi is a baaaaaad man. I had Rockets-Raptors for my final when it all started and was feeling pretty smart after it was announced KD would miss the rest of Warriors-Rockets. Then the Rockets pissed it down their leg lol.
  5. FWIW 247 predicts Kevin Cross as an Okie State commit
  6. If this is true, and physically he can play right away, it could be a big factor in getting Roby to return. That is if Roby is still undecided and really paying attention to the roster Hoiberg is assembling.
  7. I have asked this question before as well. I do know when we went to Spain, Anton Gill was redshirting that year and did not play in any games. However, I do not know if that was because he was ineligible to or not.
  8. If/when Roby decides to leave I think we can take a chance on both. Im just not sure how many scholarships the staff wants to tie up in incoming freshmen this late into the process. 4 scholarships and we will be okay taking both 3 scholarships and im gonna guess we take one or the other
  9. What makes him eligible to get his sophomore year back? He choose to transfer after already playing in games his sophomore year bc of playing time, not injuries. So isnt his sophomore year of eligibility already exhausted?
  10. LJS says he will have 2.5/3 years to play (pending NCAA waiver), is that correct? I thought he would have 1.5/2 years of eligibility.
  11. Who will be on campus when summer workouts start? Rn itll just be Dachon and Thor 1v1 ?
  12. I would say no. Both seem to be gambles/projects. Things to really like as well as some big question marks. You dont want two "projects" in the front court. Especially with how thin we are. Thats my take on it.
  13. We should just turn this in to an NBA thread ??? i love the NBA and meant to start one but forgot. A lot of interesting things going on in the playoffs. As well as some non-playoff teams.
  14. Would one say we need 5-7 wins over the next three weeks to feel good about our position?
  15. Not ideal. I was just going off how he said he only had 7 eligible players, or something like that, his first year at Iowa St. So i made the assumption he would be comfortable rocking with 9 for a year.
  16. Bet he goes JUCO. Since he was a qualifier out of high school he would only have to go one year if he chose.
  17. Only difference is i think Thor made his statement after his meeting with Hoiberg. Amir, i believe, said this before.
  18. Unless someone really good opens up, Im gonna go out on a limb and say Hoiberg only fills 2-3 more ships this year and sits on the other two for 2020 freshmen and transfers recruiting. I dont think we are in good enough position with enough good prospects to fill out all 4-5. You take Stevenson and Ntambwe if you can get them and still think you take either Cross or Ouedraogo to see of you can develop them. Other than that everyone that has visited has committed to us or elsewhere. (Fairly certain Calloo is going JUCO). Hoiberg will be comfortable with with 9-10 eligible guys.
  19. One thing that crossed my mind when thinking about Hoibergs high school recruiting is how much of it is gauged towards the future transfer market? And what i mean by that is how many of these 2020 kids is he just trying to build a relationship with and get his foot in the door for when they transfer in 2021 or 2022? I would guess that an ideal number of scholarships to be filling every year is 3 to 5. Which means if we are hitting that 2-3 RS transfer mark most years we are only bringing in a couple high school recruits every year.
  20. Also means he probably doesnt expect Roby back.
  21. If he commits, aside from Roby, who will be better suited on our team to play the 5? Kavas would get eaten alive. As of rn I think Stevenson is looking at playing what we would consider the 5. Hes 245# with a 6'11 wingspan.
  22. Seems as if grad transfers are quick to decide so once Jayce Johnson set up another visit after us, I lost faith that we were going to secure him. I dont think its too uncommon for incoming freshmen and sit out transfers to take more visits.
  23. I went with B+ - They reaffirmed two of Miles' commits who I think will fit in nicely in Jervay Green and Akol Arop - Brought in some immediate shooting help in Haanif Cheatham and Matej Kavas - Secures their PG of the future in Cam Mack - Got an interesting sit out transfer prospect in Dalano Banton The only thing they are missing is some bodies to bang down low in the post. I know we wont see too many traditional bigs but we still need some guys woth some size. We are currently in on Cross, Ouedraogo, and Stevenson. All three of which are north of 230.
  24. Has also visited Connecticut. That makes visits to UConn, TCU, and Nebraska as his known official visits.
  25. 1. Joel Ntambwe 2. Shamiel Stevenson 3. Kevin Cross 4. Yvan Ouedraogo
