He’s shooting 41% from 3. You can’t keep him off the court. It’s malpractice. Hide him defensively. Don’t start him in the bottom middle of the 2-3 match up so that he is in the position to get buried at the bottom.2 points -
Is Essegian's defense even that bad? It seems fine as long as he doesn't get caught down low. Our defense has been pretty well lost for 5 games now... Most big 10 teams are going to make wide open threes.1 point

Connor Essegian is our best +/- player on the season. His offensive presence does more good for us than his defensive presence does bad, as shown by him being our leading +/- on the season 2/3 the way through the season. We can't act like we put some super tough, defensive stalwart lineup out there to start each half. Meah can't get back in transition and practically needs to be carried to the huddle after 5 consecutive minutes of playing. Berke is not in the best shape. Down 10-6 to USC at the first media timeout. Down 10-7 to Maryland at the first media timeout. Rutgers was a good start, up 11-6 (Juwan made threes...) Iowa, Purdue and UCLA were terrible starts with little to no defense and even worse offense. Maybe Essegian's presence on the floor would open up something for Brice and allow him to get to the rim early on.1 point -

The team is sticking together for the most part. No real agendas but some guys need to pick it up a notch or 51 point -

Just a numbers thing I think - they had to get down to 40 and they were carrying 5 or 6 more than that in the fall. He just wasn't effective enough last spring, and I don't think it was much better in the fall. Will be more to cut next season when they have to get down to a 34-player roster limit.1 point -

Yeah I can see that argument. Other side of the coin is they needed a 4/5 body type, and Saint isn't that. He'd be in the same spot as Gary basically, and I don't like that.1 point -

I don’t think Saint Thomas would make this team better. He’s not a good shooter, not a good ball handler and is turnover prone. He’s big and physical, but that’s not really what we need.1 point -

Otherwise, a good mix of lefties and righties. A veteran lineup that could do some damage. And there will probably be a freshman or two that forces his way into the lineup. It's one of the most veteran rosters we've had, though.1 point

Yeah tonje was a complete wild card, so I get not recruiting him. He was injured and pretty bad at Mizzou, and committed to NM, but then ended up at Wisconsin out of the blue when they got desperate after their Exodus. Saint I think we should've looked at a bit harder though. Can't explain that one.1 point -

We certainly tried to get Frankie here. Don't think we considered Tonje or Saint in some part because we got destroyed by A&M and thus were not going to replicate USC's offense of wings. I'm not so sure that Boogie Coleman won't go down as a better transfer than Gavin at Nebraska because at Boogie at least brought leadership to the table.1 point -

As of yesterday, we're still showing up in over 1/2 of the brackets on BracketMatrix. We certainly aren't as far off as we as fans thing. It's like the completely reverse situation of where we've been in the past. In the past we think we're a lot further along than we really are and we actually have a lot of work to do. Now, we've done so much positive work prior to the 5 game losing streak that we're closer than we might think. It's a weird spot to be in considering our history.1 point -

I am kinda done with this season because I am so disappointed in the product we are putting on the floor, the coaching, the lack of true support from 1890, etc... But call me crazy, I would start: 1. Bryce 2. Sam 3. Essegian 4. Juwan 5. Berke/Morgan (whoever is playing better) Defense decides if you win games, offense decides by how much. What players you play in your normal rotation at P5, Division 1 basketball, shouldn't have a "massive" impact on your defense - that is - if you have an actual program and a recruiting philosophy.1 point -

Greatest Husker baseball player of all time - Erstad and Gordon were clearly more accomplished, but Husker baseball isn't what it is today without Komine.1 point
