Actually I wasn't messing on this occasion. But I'm still wondering what I have accomplished. Can anyone answer my other questions now? And does technology dumbness mandate a warning?2 points -

OK, Jimmy, I'm going to take a swing at this. A "URL" is the thing that you type in to tell the computer what website you want to go to. It generally starts out with www(dot) something and generally ends with (dot)com or (dot)org or (dot)edu or sometimes (dot)ru if you're hitting up Russian porn sites. So, for example, to come here, I might type www(dot) frontierharleydavidson (dot)com. But if I typed that, I wouldn't come to this website; I'd go somewhere else. Funny thing about this internets. It's very picky. That's why they have the "www" part. It stands for "Where in the World have I Went?" which is grammatically incorrect on any number of levels, but the guy who invented the internet was better at math than English. Now, what they want you to do is to copy the URL from your profile page. Again, the URL is that thing that tells the computer where to go to. So get to your profile page somehow. Now, take out a quill, dip it in your ink well, and carefully write out each letter or number or symbol exactly as it's written and then come here and type in what you wrote down. Or, you can click on the area at the top of the screen where you see that URL and that should highlight it. Now, type "control" and "c" at the same time to copy. Or left click and scroll down to "copy." Then, come here to post and either hit "control" and "v" or left-click and select "paste." Either way works equally well. I find that if I hand write it, I feel a sense of accomplishment when it actually takes me to the site I intended to go to rather than redirecting me to a place that will try to dump some virus onto my system. And, speaking of computer viruses, now is probably a good time to talk about how to avoid them. The only foolproof way to avoid viruses is abstinence. Second best is computer monogamy by visiting this site and only this site. But, if you're going to mess around on a bunch of different sites, make sure to carry around some protection. Unfortunately, you can't wrap your computer in latex, so I would suggest a software program that you can download whenever you suddenly have some message flash up on your computer that says, "YOU MAY BE INFECTED! CLICK NOW FOR A FREE SCAN!" The great thing about that scan is it's free and I'm a little bit of a tightwad so that's a good thing for me.1 point -

I am not about to bash this coach or this team. I will be at the BOB and perhaps elsewhere on occasion screaming support for the Huskers as I have for years and years and years. That said, we have been cheering for the team that we have had for many of those years, rather than the team that I want (a team that leads us to the NCAA championship). So excuse (please) those of us who have been with the Huskers since the 50's and 60's that want more...I am hoping that Coach Miles does indeed, lead us to that promised land.1 point -

Well, he is another body to throw on deck. Not to be a naysayer, but I am pretty sure his banner will not be hanging from the ceiling once he graduates. However, if he may be able to provide minutes.1 point -

Here's a story on him: http://www.starherald.com/sports/local_sports/wncc-alliance-standout-to-play-basketball-in-florida/article_d2f1db90-b117-11e1-b32d-001a4bcf887a.html Apparently, he was headed to an NAIA school in Miami, Fla after finishing up juco last year. He had offers to walk on here and at Creighton but chose the scholarship route at first. That obviously changed somehow. Not sure how that affects his eligibility. He's academically in good shape. He had a 3.83 GPA, which was the highest of any male athlete at the school, so he's in good shape in the classroom. And he's from Alliance. So ... winning the locker room, anyone?1 point -

Just for fun, I checked his stats out. He averaged over 6 assists last year. And about that many points. But there were a couple of high-scoring guys on his team and he didn't need to handle much of that load. Plus, it appears he's good at penetrating, drawing the defender and dishing to his big man underneath. That's an asset. Don't know if his quicks will translate to the next level but he seems to have reasonable handles, good vision spotting some of those passes, and just a general feel for where to be. Doug Gottlieb from OSU had that kind of sense from a few years back of just where to be so that the defender couldn't cover the passing lane. The kid has sort of a strange left-handed stroke but he shot a decent percent from outside (40%). Not great at the stripe, though, only averaging about 66% from there. Like a PG to be better than that. But his assist numbers are outstanding. And he did that on a very good juco team. So, IMO, this is a good pick up. If nothing else, he'll make our starters better by doing a credible job running the scout team. Not sure why he's available to walk on, though. What's going on there? And is he eligible for this year? Or will be eligible at semester break? Anyone know?1 point -
Here is a question for you guys. Who would you rather have playing in the post, Kye or Tyrance? In my opinion I think that if either of them are playing in the post in meaningful games we are in trouble, but it looks like we are going to have to play with some unideal lineups.1 point

Now that I think about it, upperclassmen tended to get more playing time under Doc and this was especially true of walkons who tended to get PT over the younger guys. I'm sure Tyrance will get PT under Miles but he had vet cred with Doc. Tyrance is stronger and more athletic than Ryan Anderson but I'm not sure about his quickness and I know that he doesn't have Anderson's basketball IQ (most guys don't). This year is a free for all on many levels. It will be interesting to see which guys take advantage of that opportunity.1 point

Ryan Anderson showed that severely undersized guys can play well at the 4. I would prefer we had guys who would cause this to be a non-issue but this season we are very short handed. Tyrance will get some PT this year, but too get any next year he will have to impress far more than I think he will.1 point

If he was 6'8" or 6'9" he'd be on scholarship either here or somewhere else...he's physically strong enough to be a Big 10 player...I'm not sure he has the skill set to be a guard though. I think if Miles can figure out how to utilize his skill set and Tyrance can play that role, he can play some meaningful minutes while also not being a liability on the court.1 point

Okay, first off it was not stated that Miles said "there's no way he ends up at Louisville". Second, Miles didn't tell anybody that "we will get Akoy for sure". And third, Miles didn't publicly tell anybody anything. It was a private meeting during which the cell phone of Miles received a voicemail from Akoy. Miles listened to the voicemail and reacted to it in front of said "source". Bottom line: Akoy is still calling and Miles feels we still have a shot. Take it for what it's worth.1 point

It stands to reason, as it would be the very definition of GATA. However, it would be - admittedly - an uphill climb for Coach MIles, battling against Pitino at this stage of the game in Miles' tenure here. Still, rumor or not, I'm glad to hear the stories of "no such word as quit" in coach's vocabulary. Whether it pays off or not in recruiting Agau is IMO secondary, it *is* going to have to be the way coach gets 'er done here at DONU. With this recruit, the next recruit, and every recruit after that. Nice to see you made it over, ajb.1 point

Good to see most of the local yokels over here. I mostly just lurk but was starting to get worried about some of our all american posters.1 point -
To use a few thread analogies from the old board...If you meet a pretty girl at a party and ask her to come home with you for the evening and she politely declines...yet a week later she shows up to a party you are hosting at your house...you may want to ask again because..."It ain't over 'til we say it's over!" On a more relavent note to Akoy, I hope he reads the article dimes referenced in his Harriman thread where the ESPN panel are making fantasy teams and while setting groundrule stipulations they note: "-- One player will be chosen to redshirt, since few programs use all of their 13 scholarships (unless your name is Rick Pitino -- and then you oversign each year)." Akoy, would not deal with that one year tryout issue if he becomes a Husker... and his family would be at the games! GATA!1 point

And another fun thing about the board: in a way, Karma is back with being able to up- or down-vote posts! (How many negative-karma posts will nustudent post?)0 points
