Wanted to start a thread to talk about Wednesday's scrimmage. I'm definitely excited while realizing that it's going to be a crapfest of tired legs and half effort from guys on the same team but anythings better than nothing right. With that said has a schedule been released for how the night will go, I think I remember a dunk or three point contest one night, or anything else like how long will the scrimmage be quarters, halves, where to park, whatever. I'd also invite you all to come and be a part of the podcast. I'd love to get to meet some of you and talk some basketball. I will be holding up a sign that says Risky Roadz Pod occasionally so I shouldn't be hard to find but if you want to meet me somewhere in the arena just let me know where! Feel free to come over even during to scrimmage and give your thoughts. Basketball is finally back!

    and did dedoch look good?

Isaiah played.  Looked pretty good.  Miles said over the loud speaker "Isaiah will be fine" when asked about injury.

Dedoch wasn't anything special.  He has work to do.  He will find himself buried behind both Roby and Tanner I am afraid.

Palmer put up a lot a 3's.  Sign of things to come this season?  Maybe.  I'm sure upping his 3 point percentage is a goal for him this year.  I think he was o-fer tonight, but I'm not worried.

I join OmahaHusker in his opinion that I was a bit underwhelmed.  I know, I know, it was just a practice and legs are likely tired, but I walked away concerned about depth.  Here are some of my general thoughts:

    * We shot a lot of three's, and didn't do it very well.  Again, I am not going to declare that the sky is falling.  Legs could be tired.

    * A few of the players are flat out jacked.

    * Probably 2000 to 2500 fans.  Pretty quiet group.

    * We are athletic.  Some good dunks.

    * Chan is unfinished.  I am not sure he will help much this year.  Perhaps as the year progresses, he will progress as well.

    * I am not concerned with Isaiah, Tom, James, Isaac or Glynn.  They will perform and each appear to have progressed.

    * Tanner has a body that can bang in the league.  He certainly will be a contributor this year and appears firmly within the rotation.

    * Nana still is inconsistent, but he is improved and appears to be firmly within the rotation.  If he gets to the rim, he destroys the rim.

    * Deshon is the real deal.  Man, I wish he was eligible now.

    * Amir can defend and he is good around the rim, but his shot still looks unrefined.  I am a bit afraid his shot appears to be a step or two behind Benny's.  Defenses will be able to sag off of him.

I’ll be real...kinda underwhelmed. But it’s practice. Burke is really good tho that’s for sure.

I was actually surprised by the level of seriousness and average play. Always have to remember these guys already had a hard practice before this and won't play anywhere close to where they will in a game.

The official scrimmage shooting % was not the best, but did you see the scrimmage before intros. Watson, Allen Nana all hit a couple along with Burke and Cope and. Roby each hit one. Palmer was the only one who didn’t hit. The 3pt % had to be in the 70’s if not higher.

He (Chan) did not.  He looked the opposite of that.  As in wasted scholarship.

Not what I saw from my choice seats.  Saw bricks in warmups and in the scrimmage.  I sure hope we had tired legs.  Nasty looking shooting

They scrimmaged while the T-shirt line was still around the corner, stopped went in for quite awhile and then came out for intros, warmups and the official scrimmage. Watson and Burke especially hit a couple of tough 3’s (Roby also on that team and hit)  in the pre-scrimmage or whatever you want to call it. Everybody around me was oohing and saying things like, “They can’t keep shooting that well.” Then the real scrimmage started and proved them right, they did not continue to shoot anywhere near that well.

Truth.  Pre-Scrimmage was wowza.  Also didn’t see a ton of bricks in the “practice” portion either.

Take this for what it's worth from a guy who fed and wrestled 3 kids.

I thought they looked a lot more crisp in the scrimmage before the scrimmage so the 3pt misses are whatever.

Burke would either be the 5th starter or the first guy off the bench if he could play this year. As it stands Thomas Allen has that spot locked up.

Nana is going to see significant minutes this year but I think he seems like a guy who will have those 'Toney McCray what the heck are you doing out there" moments.

We'll see how he progresses but Chan looks more like a walk-on than he does a guy who might crack the rotation.  Did anyone watch who he was defending when he was out there?

Yup, that's what I saw.  We got there a little after 5 with the line wrapped back to the post office and then a security guard says 'you can come in here if you don't want a shirt' and we waltzed right in to see the pre-scrimmage scrimmage.
