Cal Berkeley coach turned the job down.  Next up is Courtney Banghart of Princeton.  No way they pass her over for a coach with no head coaching experience.  If Banghart turns it down then it goes to Ivey.

the VandyMania tweet (and retweeted by raoul) may have been a bit presumptuous. haven't been able to find any news on the subject.

Right now Vanderbilt has 8 returning players and 6 incoming freshmen which would put their roster at 14 for next season. That is of course if no else decides they would want to transfer after the new coach is named. I'd venture to guess if either Banghart or Ivey were to be hired as the new coach most if not all of them would stay on board.

interesting in listening to the VandySports podcast. the host stated Vandy has an all-woman search committee and he also added reports are they narrowed the search pool, according to the host, by saying they will hire a female coach. also added university of washington coach was interested in the job but did not even contact him. reporting jeff walz had interest in job.

if true, don't know how you wouldn't at least talk to a coach who had just been to a final four----not to mention walz. maybe Vandy knew the money wouldn't be there, i don't know----or, like stated above, no interest in male coach.

Of local  interest.........not trying to high jack this thread....Indiana loses a player to transfer, but good for UNOmaha

Raoul Retweeted JJ

Ex-Hoosier Jess Walter (6-0 G) is transferring to the University of Nebraska Omaha (Summit); Midland HS (MI) alum.

nice pick up for brittney lange. she has to sit (i assume), but, wouldn't surprise me at all to see omaha become very competitive in the summit. they lost a number of very close games last season, otherwise had a shot at being a 3rd or 4th seed in tournament.

btw, vandy holds press conference on saturday naming new coach.

Three finalist for the Vanderbilt job were named yesterday. Niele Ivey - Notre Dame associate Head Coach, Courtney Banghart - Princeton Head Coach, and Stephanie White Indiana Fever Head Coach of the WNBA. All good candidates in my opinion.

Not exactly sure why they leaked to the media the three final candidates. Puts those two coaches who don't wind up with the job in an uncomfortable situation when they go back and have to face their own fans and tell them why they interviewed for the job in the first place. White has already come out publicly with her response.

Am I the only one that thinks this Vandy thing sounds a bit goofy? ...seems like it's not being handled to well.

Anyway......when is Doyle re-committing to UNL?  :)

Stephanie White signed on for the Vandy Job.

Interesting; White said a condition of interviewing for the job was finishing the season with her WNBA team.  Don't know if that would slow down being able to make roster decisions and recruit?  Or will she name a staff and get them moving on roster decisions?

Carolyn Peck is the associate head coach, so she will probably be making some of those decisions.

Exactly! Every time we hear news out of Nashville it seems to change the next day.

Not good for NU. . Now we watch her play against us each year. New staff didn't make the sale. Hope it isn't a sign of things to come. Stuff happens when you blow up a successful program. Will be very interesting to see who we are in on early for 2017 class.
