jimmykc Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 I hope everyone will take pleasure in revisiting this thread and ripping old Jimmy after we beat Wisconsin tonight, but I'll start it anyway. Being a sports fan entails a lot of emotional peaks and valleys if you truly care about a specific team, but sometimes it puts things in perspective when one takes a more objective view. The resident LJS beat writer/guru Rosenthal provided a classic example of "damning with faint praise" by saying this morning that at least our worst loss is by 18 this year and no NU team since 1995-6 has avoided a 20 point drubbing. I present my own "best case scenario". Others will not agree. I hope we finish out of the bottom four and are able to squeak a couple of wins from the Big 10 tourney. That may put us in the NIT where we could try to emulate the Gophers run last year. I'll be happy with that. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 Yeah, I read that about the backhanded comment of no '20-point losses' for Nebraska yet this year. Surprised BR would write that BEFORE Wisconsin rolls into Lincoln, though. Quote

Handy Johnson Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 This whole "Little Engine That Could" & "Golly Gee" attitude taken towards Husker Basketball makes me want to scream. Slappin' yourself on the back for not getting blown out by 20 really doesn't need any further elaboration. To quote Tim Miles, "you get what you tolerate". AuroranHusker 1 Quote

hhcmatt Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 My expectation is that we go into every game expecting and prepared to win while putting it on the other team to prove we can't until no more games remain. Fullbacksympathy 1 Quote
hskr4life Posted February 10, 2015 Report Posted February 10, 2015 My expectation is that the team plays their @$$ off from here on out. We may not win every game, and we may not win them all, but I think it would go a long ways toward the attitude of the team, coaches, and program to continue to see them playing hard. I EXPECT that someone would go into a game with the attitude that they are going to win. I would EXPECT, if we were only able to get rec ballers to play for us, that they would go into tonight EXPECTING to win. The odds of that (.0000001%) may be small, but I EXPECT the team to think they are going to win. I think the guys just need to go into tonight, play loose, have fun, and make something of this season. There is still time to do that ya know! Red Don and Silverbacked1 2 Quote
