Interesting that Miles already commented on the 'scoring' topic... way too many games in 40's & under. Shoot, there's a lot of football games that both teams score in excess of 40 each! Glad to see that the N.I.T. is willing to experiment for the betterment of the overall college game.

They asked him about it during the presser and it was the first time he'd heard it. From his answer it was obvious he'd thought about it before.

One result of shortening the shot-clock to 30 seconds is going to be more fouls, and ultimately more foul-outs. Games will be lengthened by a bit, too, because of more free throw attempts and dead balls in general.

I'm not saying this is a bad move, just laying out some potential negatives.

Good to see that Miles is looking out for the game of college basketball.

Deadspin:  The One Thing Both Coaches Can Agree Upon: The Ref Sucks

During the second half of tonight's NIT game between Iona and Rhode Island, Iona's Kelvin Amayo picked up a technical foul for hanging on the rim while attempting to complete an alley-oop. As the referees huddled to discuss the call—it would stand—the camera cut to Rhode Island coach Dan Hurley. Because we don't have the whole context here we can't be positive, but it sure seems like Hurley is commiserating with Iona coach Tim Cluess about how Jeff Anderson, the bald referee who called the tech on Amayo, sucks.

I'm sure refs don't carry grudges. Also, can we get Jeff Anderson as part of the crew calling our game when Rhode Island comes to town next year?
