Huskerpapa Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 ...this year. Likely a bummer for some, but logically when you view the comments from Coach Miles. Other tidbits in this article as well. For example: All of Nebraska’s 11 scholarship players were in Lincoln on Monday and ready to begin the first full session of summer school. That included three newcomers: senior center Moses Ayegba, a transfer from Georgetown; freshman guard Tarin Smith from Ocean City, New Jersey; and freshman forward-center Jacob Hammond from Comanche, Oklahoma. Here is the article from the Lee Barfnecht and the OWH http://www.omaha.com/huskers/trio-s-special-plans-move-nebraska-to-scrap-overseas-trip/article_22db6d49-da41-5669-b7e8-37a0a8a8b21f.html Quote
Swan88 Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 Gotta love this Tim Miles comedy from the article: “When we do team-group work, we’ll work on specialty things, like whether there are new things on the screen-and-roll or post defense. Maybe we’ll try a tricky thing on offense, like throwing it inside on occasion so we aren’t surprised to try it during the season.’’ Red Rum, 49r and Silverbacked1 3 Quote
HuskerCager Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 It never made sense to me that they would do an overseas trip with an experienced team. This sounds like a better plan.I noticed Jake Hammond played in an OK-TX all star game last week, but I never could find a box score for the game. He got passing mention in the articles I found, so it doesn't sound like he must have had a sparkling stat line. Quote

uneblinstu Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 We knew there wasn't going to be a trip a while ago, though, didn't we? Quote
hhcmatt Posted June 10, 2014 Report Posted June 10, 2014 I thought Hammond was from Duncan,OK? Comanche is to Duncan as Inglewood is to Fremont. Quote

Perhaps it is the same information you already have at your disposal. In a game filled with players committed to some of the best basketball schools in the county, assistant coach Aaron Weast, athletic director at Comanche, said Hammond, who is committed to Nebraska, held his own around the rim. When the six-foot 10-inch center fouled out late in the fourth quarter, it was a big blow for the Oklahoma team, which ended up losing 116-112 in overtime. “Texas had two bigs that could leap out of the gym, and we needed Jacob in the last few minutes,” Weast said. “He held his own and did a good job.” hhcmatt 1 Quote

ajb5856 Posted June 12, 2014 Report Posted June 12, 2014 We knew there wasn't going to be a trip a while ago, though, didn't we? Yes we've known for awhile but it just wasn't officially in print anywhere. I think it might've been in a radio interview awhile back where it was mentioned that the trip was scrapped. Quote
