Nighthawk Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 I'm sitting next to a guy at the bar right now that is asking if I've heard anything about the game on Sunday. He says he hasn't heard a peep about this. I asked if he was serious...he said totally. He has not heard anything. Quote

Nighthawk Posted March 8, 2014 Author Report Posted March 8, 2014 Lmao! No....its a lot smaller than Brewskys. Nice place called the Grapevine. Quote
uneblinstu Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 If you live in a bubble and don't listen to sports talk, I guess it's possible to not have heard much about this game. But the talk is everywhere, so I'd say he's in the minority. The extreme minority. Quote
Shuttlesworth Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Damn. Dude must hang with the wrong people. Quote
Tallbaby21 Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 The Vine is kind of a weird place sometimes. I talked to some beer drivers yesterday and they were all amazed at how much booze they were carting into the Haymarket for the weekend. Quote
HuskerFever Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 Is it just me, or were these our biggest games EVER? 1998 Arkansas in first round 1994 Pennsylvania in first round 1993 New Mexico State in first round 1992 Connecticut in first round 1991 Xavier in first round 1986 Western Kentucky in first round If you have the argument that this win, potentially propelling us into the NCAA tournament, will generate tremendous interest in Nebraska basketball and help improve the program from here on out... I can buy that. For the time-being, Wisconsin is a HUGE game. Then the games in the Big Ten Tournament are HUGE. It's not until we get back to the NCAA Tournament until it becomes the BIGGEST game in Nebraska basketball history. We've got some work to do, but we're just on the brink of something great! Quote

Winning the 1994 Big 8 Conference Tournament would be on the list (and the '96 N.I.T. to a lesser degree) as well. But, I agree on the whole, the whole mantra of "biggest ever" is a bit overblown as it's the "biggest right now". Winning in the Big Dance will blow the roof off of the importance of this weekend's ballgame!! Quote

Each one gets bigger based on the success of the previous. Considering where this program has been, I can't find a bigger home game in the history of the program. I think if they win tomorrow, we'll be able to put it on the list with any of those NCAA games if they continue to win games over the next two weeks. Just because they made it into the dance, doesn't mean this game can't be bigger than those if they win it for all that it sets up for them. Quote

PimpMario Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 It is, without question, the biggest home game in Husker history. Wisconsin has a top 5 RPI. If we win we are in the tournament. I don't think it is the biggest game in Husker history, but without question it is the biggest home game. Quote
uneblinstu Posted March 8, 2014 Report Posted March 8, 2014 You guys know how many times NU has won 11 conference games or more? Just three. Last time was 1965. Before that, you have to go back to 1925. Not even in the greatest era of NU basketball did they find a way to do that. I realize they play more games now than they did in the past, but it's still a pretty remarkable number. Quote
