Scott Barnes Utah State University Athletic Director

Steve Orsini Former Southern Methodist University Athletic Director

Joe Alleva LSU Director of Athletics

Jamie Zaninovich West Coast Conference Commissioner

Joe Castiglione University of Oklahoma Athletic Director

Mark Hollis Michigan State University Athletic Director

Assuming we are on the bubble on Selection Sunday, is it good or bad for us that Creighton AD Bruce Rasmussen is on the committee? I know personal opinion shouldn't matter, but we're all human. Having the Michigan State AD on the committee can only help us since we had a very impressive showing at the Breslin Center. You have to imagine Hollis would be a strong proponent for NU.

Other things that may help benefit us: Miles' personality, the Tweeting at halftime (don't underestimate that stuff) and having an exciting star player in Petteway.

On paper the Good Ol' Boy System should benefit us.  Shawn Eichorst is in the same conference as the MSU AD, has a working relationship with the CU AD, and used to be in the same conference as the Wake Forest AD.  That's 3 out of 10 committee members that are going to be found in the contacts of his blackberry.  If we're right on the fence, I would think that's got to count for something.

Hey some of you on the selection committee...remember that Dr. Tom is on the football selection committee.

I highly doubt Rasmussen hates Nebraska.  It is a large group(although not most Creighton fans) that have little brother syndrome that hate Nebraska.  And a large percentage of those are the people I deem to be pretty stupid message board posters.  They are very jealous folks.  They are jealous that our University is much more relevant than they are in the college sports landscape.  They are jealous that they know we are in a better league and are making big time strides.  And they are jealous that we have a way better basketball message board than they do, even though we are not a great basketball team at this point and they are.  I don't believe Rasmussen has those qualities.

Watched the BTN "Inside the Selection Process" tonight and it made me think a bit.

OP brought up some interesting thoughts...I'm not suggesting that politics play any part in the selection process and nobody has ever been brother-in-lawed when a committee member was trying to decipher who/who wasn't going to get his/her vote ;)

But seriously, the makeup of the committee is an interesting one. You have Rasmussen. Others have stated he has a good relationship with UNL.

Castiglione has always had a good deal of respect for Nebraska. He called our departure for the B1G "devastating" and likened it to "somebody dying." He also proposed the future football meetings that Osborne ultimately put his stamp of approval on right before his retirement. IMO, you don't propose that future matchup without having a good relationship between athletic departments.

Then you have Mark Hollis, AD at Michigan St. If it came down to near identical resumes and ours was one being considered, you'd like to think that we'd have his vote.

Of course, leaving the committee no choice but to take us is what we are all hoping for, but the makeup of the committee is definitely an interesting one.
