hhcmatt Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 http://www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2014/01/post_6.html Right now they have a walk-on football player and assistant coach as part of their scout team. They have 10 scholarship guys and 3 walkons available for games. Quote

PimpMario Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 What do you guys think our chances of pulling this one off are? I would say about 10%; but I don't know a whole lot about Michigan. They seem to have some really good losses. Man do the Huskers need a win badly. Quote

UM has a 2 point loss to Zona and we have a 25 point loss to OSU. Quote

They seem to have some really good losses. Man do the Huskers need a win badly. I would say 50/50... maybe 40/60. We, for some unkown reason, play a lot better at home. We each have losses to good teams... Compareable wins, and they have not won a true road game just like us. Quote
49r Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 They have three good losses in non-con, and one bad one. Just like us. I agree with hskr4life, this is a pick-em game. Quote

tcp Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 we'll have to play pretty well to win this game. i think we'll be glad to be at home after a lengthy absence, so I like our chances as well. Quote
hskr4life Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Do not get me wrong though... The guys NEED the fans for this one... lots of energy and lots of noise. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 I was surprised seeing in Dimes' gameday preview how YOUNG they are. They're in about the same boat as us, IIRC. I think they start 1 senior, 3 sophomores and a freshman. That's what we usually start. Quote

49r Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 There's a pretty significant difference between their underclassmen and ours though: Michigan: http://espn.go.com/colleges/basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/130/class/2012 http://espn.go.com/colleges/basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/130/class/2013 Nebraska: http://espn.go.com/colleges/basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/158/class/2012 http://espn.go.com/colleges/basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/158/class/2013 Quote
49r Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Beilein is really talking the Huskers up. Probably trying to motivate his team after a tough loss yesterday. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
throwback Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Or he's trying to prepare UM fans for the beatdown that's coming their way Wednesday! Silverbacked1 and Norm Peterson 2 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Yeah, diminish their expectations so they don't take the loss too hard. Quote
hskr4life Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 It's a win win coverup... They win and it's " Nebraska is a good team... We played really well!" They lose and it's "Seemi told you it would be a tough game for us." Quote
49r Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 Lou Holtz was the master of this when he was coach of Norte Dame. He'd talk up even the scrubbiest of scrubs like they were on a 3 year undefeated streak and was capable of beating up on NFL teams the week leading up to the game and how afraid he was that his team was going to struggle to just keep the game close. Then they'd go out and beat them by 50 points. My point is, our guys should be offended by his pandering and this should motivate them even more to beat their ass in Ann Arbor. Quote
nuled2dance Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 I'm just getting ready for some of you if we lose to claim how bad we are, how bad our coaching is and that the sky is falling. Expecting to win in AN Arbor with this team that has not had a road win would be absurd. Now do I expect them to compete and play well yes they have had time to prepare. I would be on cloud nine if we win but we have a tall task tomorrow night on the road. Would be awesome to see us attack the rim when the scoring droughts happen. Do not settle for jump shot city. Do that and protecting the ball will give us a chance. Lets see how far we have come Quote
lanigan123 Posted February 3, 2014 Report Posted February 3, 2014 A 25 percent chance. Road game. Quote

Norm Peterson Posted February 5, 2014 Report Posted February 5, 2014 Michigan moved to 13.5 favorites now. Vegas giving Nebraska about a 1 in 11 chance to win this game. Their fans aren't quite so sure. You don't call for black-outs, blue-outs, red-outs, jort-outs or whatever-outs unless you've concerned. Nothing says the other team's fans respect/fear you more than calling for a something-out when your team goes there to play. Quote

They didn't face us the first year at home in conference. Last year they did this as well. To them, Nebraska = jorts day. http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/story/2014-02-04/michigan-nebraska-game-jorts-jort-out-john-belein-ann-arbor-mitch-mcgary?eadid=SOC/Twi/SNMain http://www.lostlettermen.com/article/michigan-students-holding-another-jort-out Quote
