bobcat402 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 i'll admit i dont follow Miles post game pressers or the day after a game, but do any of the reporters ask Miles why Sergj or Kye give 3-5 min a game to relive the pressure on Pitch or smith from foul trouble, or if Hawkins will be utilized to spell shields, and rivers from foul trouble just a question that has kept popping up into my head after the past few games. Ik sergj and kye lack skill, but they can at least be a body that saves fouls on pitch and smith in the back end of the first half, and near the front end of the second half. Quote
FredsSlacks Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 I think Miles is hoping that Sergej transfers, and one way to make that clear is by not playing that player. Kye is probably not big enough to get meaningful minutes. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 Acctually it is just speculation that Coach Miles wants anyone to transfer. Unless someone has inside information, it is simply conjecture. What Coach Miles has indicated is that Serj is well liked but has to work on strength. What few glimpses we have had of Serj shows that he has some skill, but lacks muscle. He can get pushed around pretty easily, yet has developed offensive skills around the hoop. It does seem odd that he has not redshirted in order to build the referenced strength. The fact that he has not chosen that path leads many to the transfer speculation/guess/discussion/possibility. bobcat402 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Report Posted December 1, 2013 ik he needs strength, and ik he gets pushed around, but at the same time...if pitch, and rivers are in foul trouble, your telling me a division 1 scholarship athlete cant contribute 2-5 min a game just to ease the pressure on pitch, smith, and rivers, even its just to use 2-3 fouls that would go on them.. I mean use him while we got him. We will need all man on deck during BIG Ten play, with these new rules changes, thats really the only glaring gripe i have with Miles. Quote
hal9000 Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 I've thought the same. Sounds like a question for the Tim Miles Show. Quote
Hooper Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 Vooch's fate will be obvious based on recruiting activity for 2014. The Hammond signing takes the open scholarship left over from 2013. The next commitment will take Ray's scholarship. If they shut it down for 2014 at that point, we know Vooch still has a home. If they take two players in the late period, then the math implies Vooch's departure. Based on his contributions this season, I can't imagine he'll be back next year. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted December 2, 2013 Report Posted December 2, 2013 There must be some reason the the vooch is still here. but, unless we get an insider to tell us what it is, we will likely never know. That isn't the kind of information that is usually talked about outside of the inner circle. Quote

No, I think you're wrong on that. I think the Hammond signing takes Ray's spot and the next signing will fill the open spot left over from 2013. Clearly. (OK, I kid, I kid. ) Quote
trickey Posted December 3, 2013 Report Posted December 3, 2013 Not sure where to put this link to a free rival article about Miles...so it is with the presser. I thought we had a media thread...but I lost where. http://nebraska.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1583047 Quote

hhcmatt Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 If you have a scenario where Leslie and Pitch foul out and the other team has a big killing us, then the question will be asked. bobcat402 1 Quote

Norm Peterson Posted December 4, 2013 Report Posted December 4, 2013 thats a likely possibility dimes. Are you suggesting/recommending that Miles get Kye and Sergej some reps now so that, in the event the scenario Dimes describes (Smith and Pitch fouling out) occurs, we'll have a guy more ready to help? Is that the question? Quote

Is that the question? im suggesting we even out the minutes to A)protect Smith's knees that's the most important factor not waste a body. im not saying play him ten mins, im saying 3-5 or even 2-3 just to give pitch a break or in case we get into foul trouble. to see what he can provide. I know he is lacking skill and strength but i feel he can contribute even 1 point and a rebound or 2 and maybe a foul 2 that could be the difference in 5 to 10 mins a game for pitch or smith, Quote
bobcat402 Posted December 6, 2013 Author Report Posted December 6, 2013 id be fine with 1-2 min in case of foul trouble Quote

Is that the question? My point was that there is no point to asking about Surge because the answer will always be "he's not in the rotation." However, if you have a scenario where we're playing a team with some height and we're rolling out Rivers as our starting center due to foul trouble, THEN asking Miles in a press conference "why didn't you play SV" makes sense. We play Arkansas St and the Citadel over the course of the next two weeks. Are you telling me that Miles can't put in Surge as a lark with 4 minutes to go in the first half of one game with the instructions of "shoot and I'm pulling you"? Quote

lanigan123 Posted December 6, 2013 Report Posted December 6, 2013 It's clear serj will be gone before Benny. Especially if the 6 8 Hoya transfer makes it. Quote
