uneblinstu Posted July 30, 2013 Report Posted July 30, 2013 I'll reserve judgment until I see it in person. We still haven't see a basketball court set up there to know how it'll all be when the time comes. Until that time, there's this: Quote

Helpful overview....sure wish this was here when I was a student. http://journalstar.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/even-as-arena-opens-west-haymarket-will-be-work-in/article_8259fc22-9967-54d7-9441-8148f50267ee.html I'll be a Junior at Lincoln next year and I am ecstatic about the whole redevelopment. I can't wait to see what the area has to offer this coming fall. It's a great time to be a student at Nebraska!! trickey and hhcmatt 2 Quote

trickey Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Details of the Open House for season ticket holders....that will be used as an opportunity to get feedback from fans re: parking, traffic flow, concessions, etc. and the same again after the exhibition game. They will save the "bells and whistles" for the official opener...so if you want some...BYO. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/huskers-to-host-open-house-exhibition-at-arena/article_815d5f60-9b8e-5d50-afdc-4113691057a3.html Quote
ajb5856 Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Game environment/game presentation. Hadnt thought about that one bit until this article for some reason. I guess I thought that this would automatically improve because of the new arena. But now youre asking individuals who were very good a providing a lackluster game presentation plus new hires to come into a new space with brand new toys and run the show. "The gameday environment for the exhibition game will be “somewhat vanilla,” Boehm said, because Nebraska wants to “save the bells and whistles” for the official opener." So I'm guessing that means video boards, replays, stat boards, ribbon board features, music capability will either be off all together or tuned down to a point where all features are not utilized. This is going to take some time have these things running smoothly along with the rest of the game presentation. Sounds like the first real crack at all of this is going to be the FGCU game. I wonder how many games this is going to take to master. Probably half the season or so. What does everyone think? Quote

Parking is going to be a nightmare. The university has pretty much said they don't know where they are going to put the Booster (etc) club people yet due to the fact that pretty much none of the garages around the place will be complete by the first game. Getting around that area is going to be tough due to construction. I suggest to all those that tend to leave the game with 10 minutes left in the game to leave 10 minutes into the game as they will probably have to park down by the Cornhusker. Quote

49r Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 you know...when you look at it juxtaposed against the court, that video board is freakin' huuuge isn't it? Quote
uneblinstu Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 And that court fits in there pretty snug once they get the benches and scorers tables set up, it's going to be a tight fit. Quote

I don't know exact dimensions but I was able to get inside the arena a couple months ago while they had that thing on the ground. I might guess 30 ft per side?? And that would be roughly 1/3 of the courts length. Quote
