Just tell the Jayhawks that Doc Sadler was our Turner Gill.

They'll understand that we've gone on to better things, and their football programs has gone on (and back) to bigger things.

Which comes first, KU football back to a bowl game or Nebraska hoops to the NCAA tournament.

I'll bet on the latter.

I dont think I would take that.  More than half the teams make a bowl game in college football. Roughly 20% of teams make the Big Dance.

Yeah but its KU football, coached by Weiss.  Its the doublewide trailer wreck that keeps on giving.

Wow, Lee.  You copied the Topeka Journal article almost verbatim, waited a week and submitted it to the OWH as your own work....

....must be a tough job doing all that hard-hitting investigative journalism there.

49'r, I have to disagree with you on this one.  I don't see anything that remotely comes close to plagiarism.

Maybe he'll get offered Tubby Smith's job if Minnesota shows him the door?  Doc seems pretty well connected.

Either way, I'd give my life for either Coach Sadler or Miles; I'd probably take a punch for Pelini.

Would you take said punch if it came from Pelini?

Haha.  Only if I was diving in front of Sadler or Miles; or their respective spouses for that matter.

From the Capitol Journal article:

Sadler wants to be a head coach again, and this is the time when the coaching carousel starts to spin. (Barry Hinson, KU’s previous operations director, was hired at Southern Illinois on March 28 last year.) After working at KU, though, he sees the value in being selective.

“If I do it, I want it to be in a situation where I have a legitimate opportunity to win basketball games, where things are important to people and they want to win,” Sadler said. “I see how much goes into it here. Obviously the players and the coaches do so much, but they also have a lot of support.”

From the OWH article:

As the college basketball coaching carousel begins to spin, Doc Sadler is glad he doesn't have to jockey for a spot unless he wants to.

Sadler, fired a year ago at Nebraska, said he is happy as the Kansas director of basketball operations and can stay at KU.

That gives him the luxury of looking for a head coaching job while getting paid by the Jayhawks and cashing a monthly settlement from Nebraska into 2016.

“If there is something that comes open that I am familiar with,” Sadler said Tuesday from Lawrence, Kan., “or a place that has a chance to compete for a conference championship, then I would consider trying for something.

“I'm not interested in just being a head coach. I want it to be a situation where I truly believe they've done it and are going to do it.”

So, okay, maybe not verbatim, but you gotta admit the narrative gets pretty similar in that one spot.

I think it speaks more to Doc being a pro and delivering a consistent message.  I could see that answer being given for four or five different questions...or just Doc being Doc and following a rabbit trail in the conversation.

Really?  You're trying to play the plagiarism card because Doc said darn near the same thing in two interviews regarding the same topic?  Meh...

Now, that Barfy thought it necessary to write a column on the same topic another paper did, that seems unnecessary (in these days of the ol' interweb).
