Don't know what to think of this game.  We don't break presses very well and the OSU press is very good. We had 30 turnovers last year.

I'm surprised to see that OSU isn't particularly basketball skilled. Have size and athleticism, but aren't good with the ball, and their defense is not great.

 

If we get back to getting the ball in the lane we can make a game of it for sure. Stop the constant three. If you make then fine, other wise get more picky and aggressive to the basket.

 

And, yes she was out of bounds on the last OSU shot of the 1st half. Don't know if Amy can call for a replay ???

Good effort today, not enough shots were made by NU to slay the 19-1 Buckeyes, though.

Call me crazy, but that was a winnable game. We played good, but not great.  Ball wasn't falling through the hoop enough.

The thug ball creeped into the second half, and OSU got away with lots of it. They keyed on Prince and it was effective. 

But we weren't able to overcome the OSU defense in the 2nd half.  Missed too many shots. OSU isn't much better than us...if at all.

 

Markowski passed Cady on all time UNL rebounding list. Now no. 2 on list.

 

The west coast teams will eat OSU's lunch. Doubt they'll get far if they get into the tourney.

Huskers had a good plan against the press and were able to get some looks in the first half.  McGuff wisely took off the press and we struggled in half court offense. A stretch in the last 4 minutes of the 3rd quarter doomed us.  Hake should get special mention for her defense on McMahon.  We didn’t have an answer for Thierry.  OSU was so much quicker that created numerous problems but we rebounded with them and had less turnovers.  Our half court offense let us down and we had to shoot too many contested threes.  I think Rimdal should have been in the game late as she was getting into the lane and getting assists.

We played hard, diving for loose balls.  Prince missed all 6 of her threes but shot well on pull ups and drives to the hoop.  She was the leading rebounder and played good defense on their point guard  ( #2 player coming out of high school last year).  She was in foul trouble and did not score.  I was at the game and thoroughly enjoyed it except at the end when Coley fouled a gal with .2 seconds on the clock and Ohio St with a 4 pt lead.  She has the dumbest fouls of any Husker ever. We finished the 1st half of the conference season 6-3 losing to the top 3 teams. Need to go 7-2over the second half.

9-35 on threes is ultimately the difference in playing with a deficit as opposed to having a lead, that's the sad reality in hoops. The three-ball is a make-or-break thing for a team. We also have witnessed this phenomenon with the men's team, particularly the past few weeks.

If Britt Prince is 3-6 on threes instead of 0-6 today, the entire complexion of the game has swayed NU's way. Doesn't mean NU would have won, but the 9-35 becomes 12-35 and the mojo might have been enough for NU to prevail. Tough reality that Prince is really good, yet even she was bound to have a tough day against a really good opponent.

I'm just getting home from today's game. Here is what I think about Prince. Prince is going to be a much better player than Shelly was by the time she is done @ dear ole U. She had comand of the press that OSU put on us, like in past years where the team would flail around like a fish out water. She also doesn't get fancy with her passes. All though she and Markowski are working on pop fly pass.

Yes, I  agree Bug, Britt Prince has a much higher ceiling than Jaz Shelley. She does a lot of really stuff as a true FROSH! The shooting today wasn't great, but that will happen from time to time.

One more thing on today's game. The refs called a whole different game in the final 5 minutes of the game different than the frist 3 1/2 qtrs.

Our three point shooting was impacted by the defense we were going against.  The girls had few open looks.  We did plenty of good things today but Ohio State is so quick that they created opportunities that we could not.

Inconsistent officiating in Women’s basketball is a given. There were some calls that favored us and some went for OSU.
