With all the NIL and transfer portal players, Amy never seems to bring in any proven talented players like it seems all the other teams are doing.  Her transfers to my recollection for the most part (Shelly was an exception) are not impact players. Course really good transfer players are looking to play a lot and not be substituted out half the game by lesser talented players. How many times do we have a player that has a hot hand and Amy subs her out because it's time for the subs to get in.

Hake has shown very impressive improvement.  Petrie some and maybe Bozan is coming along.  After those, I can't think of any player development to brag on.

Natalie Potts had as big of an improvement into her limited sophomore season as I have seen especially in her 3's.

I am overall an Amy Williams fan, but I have to admit ... I am getting weary of hearing her and Matt say something like "well it wasn't a pretty win (or actually an ugly win), but a win is a win and we will take it".  They make it sound as tho each game is an exception whereas in reality it is getting to be the rule.  Even some of the 20+ win games against lesser opponents didn't cross over the midpoint of the ugly to beautiful continuum until late in the third quarter.  SoDak and Minny were the remarkable exceptions.  A lot of that was that the 3s were falling but also there were many fewer incidents of good passes either getting into and then fumbled off of receivers' hands or actually grasped and then a layup was missed.  There were cutters and penetrators instead of players just passing the ball around until somebody either threw up a three or got a turnover.

One of the oddities (I thought) yesterday was that Nissley, with everyone else missing,  took only two shots in 19 minutes.  She was playing with a wrap around her left wrist and thumb but that's her non shooting hand.

It's frustrating to see Prince making good to great passes to open teammates and then not getting credit for an assist bc the ball was fumbled or a layup was missed.

Well, a win is win

Right now there maybe more questions than answers. I am sure Amy feels she her players need to trust the process.  Yes a win is a win. With this new look B1G we will see if she feels she needs to adjust her school of thought. I will not go into details as they have pretty much been spelled out. Great coaches adjust when they see what they have in place is not getting the job done. We also know what happens to those who can't find the answers and things go south. Let's hope that does not happen here.

I love Amy but as I have said for a few years now. We will not grow in Womens Basketball with her. We will always be a middle of the road team. Lose games we shouldnt lose. But win a game here and there that we should lose. Her style of play is not meant for a power conference unless you are ok with getting mediocre players that do like to play her style. No good transfer or top freshman wants to play the sub in and out situation constantly.

I honestly will be curious what Prince does after this year. She is too good for this team right now.

But we would also be a complete different team with Potts on the floor as well.

I wonder if WBB really has that much NIL money.
Good point about the substituting pattern. It definitely would be a concern for a high level player.

I would say here, it is Football, MBB, and Volleyball close behind MBB. WBB would be after volleyball. It might not be close.

We have to get some consistency from our wings in scoring.  Nissley is hit or miss.  Clearly we are not getting consistent production from the 4 spot. We are asking much from Prince and Markowski misses the help that Potts provided.

I think Nissley is a better shooter than we have seem to this point. Wonder how much having surgery on both legs has effected her? I think I read or heard she did not get much court time til the fall.

Agree.....Not that it matters in this discussion, but the operations were to her feet. Regardless, she does seem rusty...maybe that will subside. When she's been on her game previously, she's very valuable and effective.

Nissely  is learning the life of being known as a shooter. She has some one guarding her closely at all times.  A d since no-one else is hitting lately, they guard her even closer.

Agree on Nissley getting the opposing teams attention. While Hake is much improved, she can be a streaky shooter from distance. What Hake does have is good speed so she can do somethings that Nissley does not.  They are best outside shot other than Prince and we know she has figures in game plans.

Sure...look at B!G stats. They're stats for everything. Recently in this thread we've been talking about shooting, so went to what the real numbers show.
