I picked up a reffing job, so I won’t make it.  Unfortunate because I love with the Big Red plays my Alma Mater.

The last high school game I went to I was pulled out of the stands to ref a girls reserve game when the regular officials left in a mix up of schedules.  Officiated in my jeans!

The lack of referees is getting worse.  The bad thing is, it’s going to be a slow burnout of current referees due to the lack of referees out there.

Yup.  The largest demographic of officials is in that 50-60 age group.  Not sure what's going to happen in a few years when they all get out and there are not enough young officials to step in.  It will be a ripple effect.  Colleges will pull high school refs up and varsity high school will  need the rest leaving lower levels without.  Small towns are scheduling football games at 3 PM in the afternoon so they can get a crew that doubles up on Friday nights.  Volleyball can be worse in some areas.
