Post Game Press Conference!!!!

Alexis Markowski, Sam Haiby & Alison Weidner until about the 4:30 mark.  Blank until about the 11:30 mark when Coach Amy Williams takes the podium.  A real good listen, talks some about strategy, adjustments, and what they are trying to do (i.e. "we really don't want to be a finished product at this point" (i.e. December) when there is so much season ahead and improvement to be made).  The team really doesn't talk about wins & losses (i.e. being undefeated) in the locker room and knows the gritty part of conference play is yet to come.   I do think Coach Amy's press conferences are becoming more informative.

Drake is the beginning of the season for real. No more gimmies from here on out.  Our size is our obvious advantage today, but we have to be aware

of their cuts to the basket. Give and goes. We're leaving the paint open way to much.

We've had way to many turnovers....taking bad shots. Got to fix that.

That's a great win.  Drake is pretty darn good.  It's tough to play against that type of team - chasing them all over the court and having to watch for the back cuts every possession.  It just wears you out, but Huskers forced a ton of turnovers.  Nebraska adjusted well to deny the 3 after the first few minutes and did a real good job making the extra pass on offense to get good shots.

Drake out-shot us Percentage-wise, but we took way more shots.   I think our defense tightened up and we made some adjustments.  Stats are in our favor, but I'd like to see us work on making our inside game (Points in the paint) more consistent before the conference grind begins for when our treys are not falling as well.

One of the few times I'll ever agree with such a statement!  Usually you can count on 5 to 10 ridiculous WTF calls by The Three Stooges, but they mostly kept themselves unnoticed, which is precisely what they're supposed to do.  It was actually nice to see them call Drake for some fouls when the Bulldogs decided to amp up the pushing and shoving to try and get back in the game.

If the Officiating Crew is not Big Ten, Let's hire 'em!!!

Referees: Maggie Tieman, Bryan Enterline, Brian Hall

Red Don, thank you for posting Husker women’s basketball tweets. I would not be able to watch the press conferences without your posts.  Do not have or want a twitter account. Thanks again for your time and effort.

I don't have (or want) a twitter a/c either.    I get it from the WBB twitter page (that anyone can access)

Thanks for the link.  As you can see I don’t know anything about twitter.  Wish whoever post the information would put the videos on youtube or the Husker website.

got a chance at watching the replay this morning. uhhh.....time will tell, however, imo i don't think Drake will have lost much with JB going to Oklahoma. i know they are "her" recruits, but, i was pretty impressed. very, very good execution AND finishing. Drake tries to out hustle you to the ball. good "cutting" team. i see Minny plays at Drake the 23rd. imo, will be rather interesting to see how that goes.

wow.......weidner is really interesting to watch. she really looks to go at the rim. love how she followed her shot on that missed 3 and got the rebound. just impressed how this team responds..."ok, you've closed the gap.....take another look!"😉 huskers just have that ability to respond back. not anything new here, but, stewart might have one of the nicest shots on the squad. not that she is gonna score big all the time, but, she has such a nice release. jaz can contribute in so many ways, other than scoring. it's huge for the huskers.

i know Markowski has had back to back very good games......however, things are only gonna get tougher for her with the big ten just around the corner. almost all the schools have good post players....especially maryland, indiana, iowa, and michigan (and, i was surprised michigan defeated baylor!). hopefully she can respond.

a number of tv shots of the husker bench reactions......chemistry seems so, so good. hope they don't get any "T's" for over celebration in big ten play. 😉

anyway, wow, huskers have pretty much taken care of the non-con schedule. a big step on the way at a shot at the NCAA tourney.

Great Report; Thanks Whoop!!!   We've all thought that this is Coach Amy's deepest and most talented team.  It is really gratifying to see that 'coaching' matches the talent, manifested by the camaraderie, TEAM Spirit, and, as you said: "have that ability to respond back."

No doubt, competition will get tougher for Alexis Markowski as we enter conference play; but I'm so glad that we have someone who can compete down low; I don't doubt that she will respond, with her 'Will to Win' (in fact that goes for the entire team - length, athleticism, shot-blocking and steals).  The contributions made by All the players are just too numerous to mention.

think we should have a solid finish in the top half of the conference  (and is it just me or do Amy Williams interviews seem to be getting better and more informative).

my bias is probably showing.............but, i have always been impressed with coach williams and her interviews. she is a pretty intelligent person. no guarantees how that will form into the coaching arena, but, she is pretty articulate. like i have stated quite awhile ago...she passed up medical degree to become a coach. i would love it if she can roam the Husker sidelines for a long time.

I guess I was thinking back to her interviews with Matt Coatney.  Coatney was always giving her 'soft ball' questions that she could only agree with and confirm what Matt was saying.  Seems like he avoided any tough questions or controversy.

I love the format of the new sports nightly call in show and always watch it and call in with a question.  Her answers are always very in depth and on on target.  This summer we went to the Husker Blitz when teams of coaches partnered up and went out into the state to meet fans and answer their questions.  My wife and I went to the one in David City and got there early.  Coach Williams was there with Chinlander and Verduzco.  She got their early as well and sat across the table from me and my wife and visited with us for about 15 minutes.  She was so gracious and informative.  I asked her every WBB question I could think of and ran out of questions.  Great Lady.

Drake out rebounded them by quite a bit and made field goals at about an 8% higher clip and made a few more free throws.

i have to believe minny had a height advantage? after the minny-husker game i had a hunch 5* Sissoko was going to be just what minny was looking for. however, doesn't sound like she is even coming close to the game she had against the huskers. i'm sure whalen will be fine........for at least a year or two. she has the excellent class coming in.

I'm sure Whalen can recruit on name recognition, but she is proving to be a very average coach.  But she is still new at coaching.

Drake win doesn't appear to help the huskers much. Drake is sitting 9th out of 10 in the MVC. they will be 1-5 in the conference (getting smoked by sw missouri as i post)

i did watch a couple of their early season games before they played the huskers and looked pretty good. however, they have been struggling lately.
