  1. He was last night. Just not enough bulk to defend a real B1G PF.
  2. Outside of Petteway, Shields and occasionally Pitchford we are so limited offensively. They were playing 10 feet off of Benny and Rivers was not only ineffective offensively but a real liability defensively. We need a couple more scorers to be a top 25 team.
  3. Glynn has been on a hot streak with 31 and 20 the past two games. He missed a couple games due to an ankle injury but is now storming back with a vengeance. And St Joseph's needs him to. He is their leading scorer and team leader.
  4. I believe you are comparing 6 game stats for 2014-15 to full season stats for 2013-14. My recollection is that TP had many more turnovers early season and became much better with the ball, and his shot selection, later in the season last year. We may see these numbers improve as the season goes on. The same with Walt. Walt was much better the 2nd half of last season than the 1st half. At least that is my memory.
  5. I missed the pregame so this is news to me. Happy to hear he is progressing!
  6. I was encouraged to see Jacob Hammond in the game last night. Especially during a crucial period. He held his own, looked comfortable for the most part, was not dynamic but also was not a liability. I have been hopeful he would progress enough to earn meaningful minutes. My question, was last night a fluke driven by foul trouble or is young Mr Hammond making enough progress to earn more playing time?
  7. Watching Nick in warm ups he hit very few shots. I assume turf toe is affecting his shot.
  8. Any chance Chandler plays today?
  9. - Parker - Defensive stud...offensively still challenged. His shot looked better, now he just has to have more confidence when he releases the ball. Benny's size really got exposed today. Northern Kentucky took him inside effectively all day long. There has to be something he can do to counter this. Otherwise loved his game.
  10. Our inside game/rebounding leaves a lot to be desired. Having another decent 6'8 guy on the roster would help leslee might be back by conference play though. Our inside game/rebounding leaves a lot to be desired. Having another decent 6'8 guy on the roster would help leslee might be back by conference play though. I like our team a lot! Just pining over what could have been. Deng is much more effective offensively than David Rivers and a good rebounder too. Plus more depth. But I like who we are right now a lot!
  11. Oh the pain. I should never have done this but I went to the Baylor site this morning to check out Deng Deng's progress. Not only did he play against McNeese State last night but he led all scorers with 16 points in 16 minutes of play. He was 8-9 from the field and had 3 rebounds. Deng could have been our ticket to the top 10. Oh well, I'm happy where things have ended up anyway. By the way, I also looked up Elbert Robinson at LSU. Not so much progress there yet but his is just a true freshman.
  12. And Leslie is unique among our bigs! He has a nice inside game. I was hoping he would take the normal 1st to 2nd year improvement one typically sees with Jucos but I'll just take a Leslie Smith that is as good as last year!!!
  13. I will be ecstatic if Leslie is able to return to last year's form. He provides our best chance to develop an inside offense.
  14. I didn't have a chance to read it BigP50. Please repost if you still have it!
  15. Interesting, 5 B1G schools in the top 25 and only 1 Big East. That conference has dropped off the map!
  16. I agree with you CWG. The backup bigs may not meet some inflated expectations but we will be considerably better compared to this time last year. I hope Leslie can come back and play at a high level this year but I'm not optimistic. No inside info, just his history of knee injuries.
  17. We desperately need some intel here! So who's sneaking in, filing a report & taking one for the HHC team?
  18. 3rd team is too low for Shevon. He should be at least 2nd team. Guess he'll have to earn it through his play this year.
  19. Andrew White will play in the exhibition game? I don't recall either Petteway or Pitchford playing in the exhibition game the year they sat out.
  20. Actually he was very far from getting it done at Iowa State. Doc Sadler was just about the only coach he could win against. Also that Big East player of the year transferred from Iowa St because of Mcdermott's treatment towards him. His mismanagement of the ISU roster was one of his major downfalls. Do you really think it was player mismanagement or recruiting? Not so much recruiting high level talent but recruiting the right talent. Notice how much credence Tim Miles places on individual recruit character and fit with the team. I believe that is a big part of his formula for success.
  21. Everyone seems to be overlooking Hammond. The kid led the Sunrise Christian Academy in scoring his junior year when they were rated #6 in the nation. He will be very good by his sophomore year. Just needs some bulk and strength for defense in the B1G. Already effective on the offensive end.
  22. Hes most likely starting at the two this season so I'd expect to see him on the court. If Webster is starting at the 2 this season, then who is he replacing? Is it David Rivers and Shavon moves to the 4?
  23. Jacob Hammond will start at center for the team you list above. People underestimate how good Jacob will be. While he played lower level competition his senior year at Commache, OK, everyone forgets he led Sunrise Academy in scoring his Jr year. And I believe that was their number 1 team, and nationally ranked in the top 10.
  24. Thanks BP! What about his shot from 15 feet & the arc? The film where he played Okafor last season made it look like he can effectively shoot from distance.
  25. Hmmm, the comments about Ed Morrow are interesting. I thought I read a comment from Coach Miles that he thought Ed's eventual position would be as a SF or wing. I assumed this is why we will sign an obvious PF like Mike Jacobson and are still recruiting a true center. What are your thoughts about Ed developing into a SF?
