  1. I'll be there with three other Husker fans!
  2. I agree Gov, Terran does show some attitude. But he played within the system and flow of the game last night and it showed. I trust Miles and staff to get this attitude corrected over time. Terran is a very competitive and skilled player who needs to fully buy into the system. He'll get there. By the way, I met Terran's parents in Charleston. Very nice people who are proud of Terran, as parents should be.
  3. I didn't notice anything during the game except the time he limped off the floor. Looks like he came down wrong and was holding his ankle on the bench. Terran was a much better team player last night! He was less aggressive finding his own shot but as a result he took fewer bad shots and helped his team mates get much better looks.
  4. I wonder what Jacob's current height and weight are? Is he still growing? Is he lifting and adding muscle?
  5. I think you might be right, but to carry my point Carmelo is most times the best player on his team but there are lesser players make other teams better. Petteway doesn't make his teammates better. He wants to take the whole game into his hands and he is no Melo. Both of those players need the ball in their hands so much to be effective that they detract from what the other players can contribute. I don't think it has to be permanent condition, but right now he needs to pass the damn ball and let the game come to him. For now the offense stagnates as soon as he touches it, and by definition motion offenses cannot do that and be an effective motion offense. What is best for him is not what is best for the team. There are times that this team will need him to go get a basket, but it can't be as often as it is right now. The offense operated the most efficiently today when he was on the bench in foul trouble and look at the end of the game again. He does hit a bad three but then misses on three consecutive trips and UAB got much easier looks at the other end of the floor and pulls away. I guarantee you that after listening to Husker player parents in the stands here in Charleston, it is an issue. Petteway is a very talented player and can drive all he wants but has to pass the ball out to the open man when he doesn't have a wide open shot. We also have to block out and learn to switch better. Too many offensive rebounds for the other team and way too many switches where we end up doubling one man while another is left wide open. We have a very effective and dedicated group of coaches and we can and will make significant progress in all of these areas.
  6. I too love Bennie's on the ball defense and ability to create in transition but until he can hit an open jumper, he doesn't bring enough to the team. We can find someone who can do everything Bennie does and can hit the open jumpers.
  7. UMass will be a good test. Not sure how good BC is, but they beat them by 13 at a neutral site. Had a big guy, Lulanne, lead them in scoring with 27. Lulanne is a 6'10" 253 lb bruiser. Not a good match up for us. Should be interesting to see how we fair.
  8. The MBB discussion is much more sporadic on RSS but the recruiting news and articles are top rate. There are a few intelligent posters on RSS but generally HHC is better, much more robust.
  9. HHC and the Rivals Red Sea Scrolls are my two sources for info on Huskers men's and women's basketball. There were several interesting threads in RSS last night about the game and Robin had a nice write up on both the game and Tai Webster. By and large, though, HHC is the best source for general Husker talk and Rivals is best for Husker MBB recruiting.
  10. Because the optimists were the only MBB fans left. There are quite a few new fans now but wait until things turn grim and watch them howl lol
  11. Thought it would be interesting to compare shooting percentages between Colorado State and Nebraska during the last three years of Doc's tenure. Shooting (All/3 Pt%) 2011/12 2010/11 2009/10 CSU 47.1/40.0 46.7/33.3 43.0/35.3 Huskers 42.7/32.4 46.1/31.4 44.0/39.7 Generally CSU was better in both categories except 2009/10 where the Huskers were better in both categories. Not sure what conclusion to draw from this but found the comparisons interesting.
  12. I hope your right! It would be huge for the program to get ER!!!
  13. Does Zach Smith have an offer? Can't remember if he was one who left town after his visit without one. Very possible that the coaches are down there just doing the standard recruiting stuff. Zach Smith is 6-7ish and we are stacked at the wing/small forward position. The timing of this is very strange, indeed. He's tweeted this type of thing before but why today, why Dallas? And why would he tweet it if it was just another trip down to Texas? Craig Smith is our Texas guy, right? And Harriman works with the bigs? Do I have this correct or which of our assistants works directly with the big guys?I believe that he has one but I'm not positive. Robin just did an update with him sbrf he said he liked out here and we are in his Final 3 with TCU and Texas Tech. The Rivals profile for Smith does not list a Nebraska offer. In the article by Robin he listed Smith at 6'8", which may make him a PF candidate. This makes more sense as we are in need of a PF but not a wing. we need a true center..ER is the man we need...Yes, I agree it would be great to get ER and he is first priority. I've assumed we have room for 3 bigs this year, two centers, Hammond and hopefully ER, and one PF. Smith has grown and is probably now a credible PF prospect.

  15. If it were Robinson, wouldn't that be Kenya rather than Chris?
  16. They're both bigs, Pitchford & Smith, who have been tutoring under Kenya Hunter?
  17. I saw more dunks, alley oop plays and athleticism last night than the past 10 years of Husker hoops combined! It may not always be pretty, but it will be more exciting!
  18. If you had seen the scrimmage they held until 5:45PM you would have thought Petteway was unstoppable. His three ball was a thing of beauty as he hit three in a row! I was amazed at the change in the public scrimmage! I don't know if he was tired or nervous.
  19. Sitting in our seats waiting for the official event. During the Club Section reception Tim was conducting a warm up scrimmage. Man did Terran Petteway look good. When I saw a practice last year his 3 ball shot looked awkward. He made at least 3 3 pointers during the scrimmage and his shot looked very smooth. The entire team looked athletic but Terran & Pitchford looked uber athletic!! That's all for now!
  20. Of course they will. . And Husker fans will tell me that Gilmore would have committed had he been offered. Fact is, neither of us know, but it sure is nice to pretend like we do now isn't it. Who knows if would have. I don't doubt we passed on Gilmore. But it may be more because he didn't fit our needs than whether or not he is a good player. We need Centers & PFs and maybe a guard. We don't need wings. Creighton is in the exact opposite position. They desperately need athletic wings.
  21. Plus Wacker is not a bad backup plan. I think we win either way here!
  22. Can't wait to shock the world!!!
  23. I remember reading that Chris Harriman is tight with a very talented 2015 Australian prospect, just can't remember the name.
  24. I just dont think Ubel should be a measuring stick. Yes he played for Nebraska but he wasnt that good of a player in the grand scheme of basketball and NU needs players much better than he was to get to the NCAA tournament on a regular basis. I dont want someone just a little better than Ubel, NU needs a lot better. I agree Kandy. Ubel is simply a measuring stick. I would be disappointed if we aren't recruiting players with superior skills and higher ceilings than Brandon. And by the sounds of it, both Hammond and Wacker are better than Ubel. I would be tickled pink if we recruit players with superior skills, higher ceilings and Brandon's character!
  25. Great! Thanks guys. Guess I didn't think to look up the offer list TimSmiles!
