  1. https://twitter.com/huskerextrabr/status/598548912723615744So, we choose to believe whichever source suits our fancy? Several conflicting reports concerning this. So, I still ask, how is Dickerson any different, or better, than Morrow and how does he fill the "big man" role everybody has a hard on for? 20 lbs more muscle makes a big difference.
  2. I sure don't mean to indicate that she doesn't belong on the team. A big body who can rebound is always a good thing!
  3. Or Title 9 balancing? I had heard we needed more women on scholarship to balance the male female ratio required under Title 9.
  4. Yes, one left. Hopefully for a big or Tyler Harris.
  5. So these are D1 coaches on this Illinois board?
  6. Yes! Those are men one can admire. We need more examples like this to show others how to behave.
  7. With or without Watson, we are extremely thin in the backcourt. We need another guard who can play the two badly. You have Parker (Sr- Can't play the two), Watson (incoming true frosh) and Webster (combo guard who has been wildly undependable). Not a ringing endorsement there. Wouldn't White be considered a two? I wonder if White has enough lateral quickness to guard a smaller, quicker 2?
  8. Sounds like while Edwards is visiting Georgia this weekend there is nothing new on the front with Nebraska. Doesn't sound promising for the good guys!
  9. CWG, are you sure he has interest in Nebraska? The red N in his list has the name COLONELS listed across the N. Not sure who that is?
  10. Yes. Texas A & M is 80 miles north of Houston.
  11. Thanks, Did you get a feel for who might be leaving, especially since they offered the kid from Michigan today. I have no idea. I didn't ask and they didn't say.
  12. Had a chance to attend a practice not too long ago and thought a few observations may be helpful. 1. AW III looked great. Only he and Ali were making shots in the scrimmage portion of the practice. Much more athletic than I expected with some nice finishes at the rim. A solid 215 and has gained quite a bit of strength since his Kansas days. Also an effective defender and rebounder according to the staff I talked to. 2. Hammond needs to learn to eat. Down in the 220s now. 3. Watson does not have a great 3 point shot but can score and is a great facilitator. 4. When you think of McVeigh think of a Utoff ++. Similar approach to the game and skillset. 5. Jacobsen will be relied on as a 5 so he needs to grow and add bulk. Too slow at this point to play PF but this could change with time in the Husker strength program. The general view among a couple of the staff I talked to regarding the difficulties this year was that the loss of Gallegos caused more problems than expected. Reyes commanded defensive attention by everyone we played and that defensive attention created driving lanes for Petteway & Shields.
  13. I agree with this assessment.
  14. I've been thinking about what is different this year than last and have a list of possibilities I'd like to share. 1. Are we suffering in game planning and bench coaching from the loss of Coach Smith? 2. Are the increased expectations this year placing too much pressure on this team? 3. Do we miss the quickness and shooting threat of Reyes Gallegos more than expected? 4. Are we no longer overlooked and teams are doing a better job of game planning against us? Any thoughts & comments are appreciated.
  15. Can Shields hit an outside shot over 10 feet? His shooting outside of 10 feet has been horrible this year! What's the deal?
  16. Go back and watch the game from last year where Morrow played against Okafor. He hit a couple threes and made numerous mid range jump shots. I was surprised how well he shot in that game. I think he scored 22.
  17. While I agree that he could be ready to contribute, it is probably only limited minutes next year. He needs to build strength and bulk to play significant minutes. While he will put on good muscle mass over the summer 30 lbs sounds like too much to expect without PEDs. 15 lbs is probably more reasonable. Considering that he started the season at 230 he should be able to achieve something above 240 for next season. Jacob hasn't looked like a real contributor in the making yet, but I still have high hopes for him. Typically bigs just take longer to develop.
  18. Much like Tai's play, we don't win yesterday without Leslee! His defense was impressive, not so much on defensive rebounding but his post defense. Rebounding wise, you could see his timing is still off and his rebounding should improve as he plays more.
  19. I am very proud of Tai too! I loved the sequence when Tai was stripped in the backcourt (didn't like that part so much) but went back after the ball and scrapped until he got it back. That scrappy Tai Webster deserves more minutes!
  20. Looks like a project player who's strength is rebounding and shooting, not so much back to the basket. I think the staff is also hoping/thinking he will grow another 2". In one interview Coach Miles even talked about lack of leg hair with Mike!
  21. As long as he is as tall or taller than Charles Barkley I'm fine with it Norm!
  22. I saw him up close at the football game that he visited and I also thought he looked shorter than 6'7". Wasn't there a post on here in the past 6 months about rebounding and height where someone said that Charles Barkley was like 5'10"?
  23. Remind me, is Keanu a freshman or sophomore in JC this year?
  24. Did anyone listen to the segment of the Chris Harriman interview posted to the media thread where he talked about Andrew White? Chris said that AW was the best pure shooter he has ever worked with and that recently in a scrimmage in practice that AW made 8 3 pointers in a row while being guarded by TP. Wow!
  25. Yes, yes, yes...... There will come a time when we can trot out 5 starters who can ALL shoot the ballYou have to have at least two who are very good scorers and at least two others who are legit threats who can go off from time to time. Who can at least make the defense pay if they don't cover them. The fifth guy can be a big who primarily defends and gets the occasional rebound put-back or a point who is a good distributor and defends. I don't think you neeeed five guys who are all big-time scorers. There won't be enough shots to go around. But if you only have two legit scorers and another guy who's an occasional hot hand and two more who are so offensively limited that the other team doesn't really need to worry about them, that's when you have problems. Now, I refuse to get down on Parker and Rivers because they are who we knew they were and we've known that they weren't big-time offensive producers. We don't have a lot of options at this point, though. But, last night, their lack of scoring was as much of a function of Petteway's hot night as anything else. You're not going to want Parker and Rivers to be taking more than 5 shots collectively if Petteway is burning the nets at 55% from the floor. If you want to complain about someone not getting it done last night, how about Walter Pitchford going 3-8 from the floor including a blistering 1-5 from BTA? How about Shavon Shields shooting 75% from the floor but calling his own number only 4 times? If Shields hits his season average, we're in that game to the end. Bottom line: For us to beat Wisconsin at home, all of the Big 3 have to score well and somebody has to have a career night. On the road, we did about as well as we could have reasonably hoped. I agree Norm, David and Benny are who they are. While I am sure there are adjustments Coach Miles sees that I don't, I'm not sure there is much we can do this year. We just need more scorers to compete in a game like the game last night. Beginning next year we should be in a better position to place a complete team on the floor.
