I watched one Sunrise Academy game where he played sparingly and had real difficulty getting seperation for a shot. Looked a step slow in that game.

Who cares? Petteway was a 3 star. Would you trade him for any of the Northwestern players or recruits? I do believe that recruiting rankings make a difference, so don't get me wrong. But I also believe that an astute evaluator of talent can beat the system and find players who will develop into great players. In my opinion, it is difficult to fast forward from being considered a losing program to signing 4 star players without the step where you demonstrate you can win with mid level talent.

I happen to agree with you on all counts Norm. I guess where I see a correlation between the two is relative. Both came into programs that were struggling in areas that weren't talent rich with top level recruits. Yes, Nebraska does produce more top level girls basketball talent than boys. So that means it is even more difficult for Tim than it was for Connie. But despite this, I believe it is possible we achieve a top 25 rating next year without a dramatic infuse of talent. If we bring in another scorer we could make it to the mid teens in terms of rating. That is incredible progress. Could it be that Petteway is Miles Kelsey Griffith?

I posted this in another thread and thought it may make an interesting thread of its own. What are your recruiting expectations? I have listed mine below. It would be nice to sign top 50 recruits in the 2nd year out but normally that only happens that quickly if the program is a past blue blood, located in a talent hot bed or the coach takes a short cut, like Bob Huggins did at K State. The model I use for building a program in Nebraska's situation, while following the rules, is Connie Yori. 2001-2 14-16 Last year under Paul Sanderford 2002-3 8-20 Connie's first year 2003-4 18-12 WNIT 2004-5 18-14 WNIT 2005-6 19-13 WNIT 2006-7 22-10 and her first NCAA appearance. And she's had two losing seasons since then, in 2008-9 when Kelsey Griffith was injured and 2010-11 the year after Kelsey left. I think people underestimate how difficult it is to turn a program around! It takes time. First you demonstrate you can coach players up and win with mid level talent, then the good ones start to come to you. Actually, that just happened for Connie for the first time this year! She has three top 100 players in her 2014 class and is ranked #9. Let's hear what you expect.

Where are you finding his numbers? I've checked NJCAA and there's nothing there.

1. Gallegos' spot (Hammond) 2. Biggs' spot 3. Open spot Hammond coming in and then there are two to fill prior to any departures (if any). I would be very surprised if a 4th spot doesn't open. It is decision time for Vooch. Either use his redshirt year and transfer to a place where he can play with two years of eligibility left or finish at Nebraska and, perhaps, never play.

Talent is important but a talented player with the wrong attitude can do more damage than good. Not sure this is the case with Leon but the idea that we should recruit talent no matter what is inaccurate.

Kamdy, I've seen Deng listed at 6'8" and 220 lbs. Is it his style of play that causes you to categorize him as a sf? he's a small forward just like shields is, but would probably play power forward for us. Hammond and Pitchford are probably our centers for the next few years. I guess it is probably just semantics but a guy who is 6'8", 220 lbs and rebounds the way Deng rebounds is a classic face up 4 to me. Either way I would love to get him.

We need a guard who can shoot + 40% from three point land. Right now, after Gallegos is gone that's something we don't have on our roster. So true! As of now this kid is shooting 54% from 3 point range.

We're interested and would like him to visit but he won't visit until he has an offer and we won't offer until he visits. Not sure how it will end up. Either way, you may be correct that the recruitment of the Serbian is directly related to Hawkins.

Actually, we haven't offered the Sunrise guard yet.

Morrow would be the same recruiting class as Pinder. Could be quite a class!

There would be no choice. He would have to redshirt if he transferred directly here. If he transferred at semester couldn't he play 2nd semester of next season?

Any ideas who it might be? Chris owns the relationship with Deng Deng, correct? Has anyone been keeping track of Chris Harriman to know his whereabouts?
