Both seem like good kids who have size and strong fundamentals. I am wondering if we are taking a step up in recruiting with these kids or not. So I have a question. How do you think these two players compare to a player like Brandon Ubel? Will they be better, worse or about the same as D1 players?
-
It looks as if they added the new players but did not update the existing players. For example, Shavon is still listed at 6'6" and 214 lbs. It has been reported that he is now 6'7" and 225 lbs. I wonder if they will update the existing players or just leave them as they were last year?

Chris was an assistant at St Louis and may have known her from his days there.

Less than 3 months until Nebrasketball Season

You know what I like about these pictures? The impression is that these are good kids who get along well and are happy to be at Nebraska. No glaring, stare down bad a$$ personas. -
Who will start (primarily) at point this season?
MandRHusker replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I saw Petteway play point during one practice last year and he looked reallllly good! -
I've heard the same thing. Pretty exciting What did you hear about Walter?

I've seen Tai's height listed as 6'3", 6'2" and once at 6'1". This is the first I've seen at 6'4". I hope he has grown!!! By the way, Tai's brother Cory is listed at 6'2".

I am very optimistic about Husker men's basketball and baseball. Both are headed upward with admirable coaches. The same goes for Coach Yori and women's basketball with a track record to prove it. I respect and like Coachs Miles, Yori and Erstad and would love to have my son or daughter play for any of these three coaches. They recruit good players and people, have great assistant coaches and are able to deal with the public spotlight very well. I am a football fan but think Husker football is headed sideways at best. I will always be a Husker fan and hope for the best but I am not convinced we are going anywhere with this Coach and assistants. I neither like nor respect Coach Pelini and would not want my son the play football for him. Sorry to be so blunt about this but, as you can tell, I feel pretty strongly about where football is headed. Thank goodness for basketball, baseball and volleyball!

Shields helps Danish U 20 team to championship

A taller, beefed up Shevon would be a match up nightmare at the PF position! -
Is the SAT the only requirement he had to pass to qualify? If so, this is astounding news!!!

how is he going to plummet? he cant control tai's test scores. All tim can do is go out and compete for the best players and athlete's like he is doing now, plus the real class that we need some big time players is 2015.I'm not saying it would be miles fault if Tai doesn't make it, but our 2013 class is going to be very average without Tai.I'm not sure I understand your logic of 2015 being a more important class than 2014. We have no true post threat, and without Tai there would be no dynamic guards. I assume you mean that there will be no dynamic guards in the 2013 class, not that there will be no dynamic guards on the team...Do you think Biggs will be dynamic? Please don't say Rey... Good player - far from "dynamic". At least by my definition Petteway Ah that's fair. I think he will be, as well - though I thought he was more of a 3 Yeah, I think under normal circumstances he would be a 3, but I don't see any way that he doesn't start next season...he is too good. But I also don't think that there is any way that Shields doesn't start. I think Shields will start at the 3-Spot and Petteway will start at the 2-Spot. I sat in on two practices last year and Petteway impressed at both. The second was late in the season and he and Biggs shared the point guard duties. Petteway was unstoppable. His first step is very quick and he has excellent ball handling skills for a man his size. He is very athletic and crafty getting to the rim. He does not shoot a 3 ball well at all. I expect to see Petteway play the point this upcoming season, and quite a bit if Tai doesn't make it!

I've seen him play the point and he looks very good. Very quick first step and effective getting to the rim! But he needs real work on his outside shot.

That really helps Cell. Thanks!!! I heard the game play by play guys mention a player for one of the teams who is still in high school. Do you know which player they were referring to and if he could be a legitimate D1 prospect?
-
The great thing is that it is much easier for a good coach to teach defense than it is to teach offense. If Tai has a good attitude and the desire, he can be a very good defensive player quickly. What is your opinion of the level of competition in the vdeo Cell posted? Mid major D1?
-
I think the best prediction of the future is the past. Coach Miles has brought in several athletic guys already. Our all athletic team would be Biggs, Gallegos, Webster, Petteway and Pitchford. All of these guys are superior athletes. And four of the five are Coach Miles guys. Also, Smith looks quite athletic on film for a guy who is 250 lbs. No super ups but he looks very light on his feet. I think this is an indication that Coach Miles will bring in superior athletes where needed.
-
Tai must have had at least 20 in that game. What level of competition do you think those teams represented? D1?
-
I don't have anything to offer but was hoping someone had some insights. Are Rivers, Vooch and Pitchford packing on the pounds and muscle? Is Reyes developing his dribble drive? Is Shevon growing another 2 inches (Benny could use 4")? Has Petteway's intensity and leadership had any impact on the other players (and is his 3 point shot improving)? Inquiring minds want to know!!!

Tranquility Base here. The Eagles has landed...
MandRHusker replied to cipsucks's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I had front row seats to the Don Henley concert in Murphys, California over a year ago. Actually visited with Don for 10 minutes back stage. He was a quiet, polite man. We talked mostly about his family. He performed all the Eagle's great songs to perfection that night but honestly looked a little bored onstage. Still, I will be at the concert in Lincoln in a heartbeat!!! -
NCAA hoops attendance figures for 2012
MandRHusker replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I'm too lazy to determine if attendance for this report is determined by sold tickets or butts in seats but, if it is sold tickets, we should move into the top 15! -
Nothing new on this "possible" commit?

So when is the last possible day to add a big for 2013?
MandRHusker replied to FredsSlacks's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Why? I'm not convinced we need to fill the spot to see real improvement next year. Yes, it would be nice to find another quality big man, but not necessary in my mind. -

Norm, didn't we add Petteway, Pitchford and Vooch later than this last year?
