  1. ...a Husker Basketball flag? Not sure if something like that has even been produced, but if so I'd buy one. Preferably in the 3'x5' size range. The only sport-specific ones I can find are for football (surprise, surprise).
  2. Hold up-- Ms. Union is visiting Nebraska for the first time in a long while, and somehow APPLEBEE'S makes her restaurant lineup? Am I the only one dumbfounded by this?
  3. I don't think you can pass on the PG spot in both '16 and '17, even if you're confident in the two ball handlers signed in '15. It's rare to sign 2 PG's in the same class and have them graduate together 4 years later.
  4. As I recall, Velander played the post. And by played the post, I mean parked in the paint and drew 4 charges per game.
  5. I'd imagine there are "pick up" games that he'd participate in, unscripted. Word must get back to Miles that he did all right. Is there any reason Miles wouldn't have been able to watch for himself? Just asking 'cause I don't know. Possibly (maybe even probably), but my point is that it can't be a try-out per se. Unscripted, in other words. Why can't it be a 'scripted' try-out, is that a basketball-specific rule? College football teams hold camps all the time (such as the satellite camps that Nebraska just ran), and then frequently make offers based on players' performance at said camps. The only difference I see is that the football camps feature high school players competing against other high school players, whereas Usher would have been playing with current collegiate athletes.
  6. The man has never gotten into legal trouble or had a scandal, despite being in the national spotlight since he was in high school. By all accounts he's highly intelligent, an active father, and an overall solid role model. Compare that with the average professional athlete today who does far worse while under a much smaller microscope. And you want to complain about a one-hour TV broadcast, which he agreed to do in exchange for raising $6 million for charity? It always amazes me how many sports fans are able to separate on- and off-field performance for everyone other than LeBron. They can literally cheer for criminals, and yet hold a grudge against a guy for a couple arrogant statements made five years ago.
  7. Nonsense. You're only saying that because no one ever has. (Huh? Princess Bride reference? Not bad, huh?) The fire swamp? Precisely. Overcome the kudzu? Inconceivable! You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
  8. '05-'06 Villanova figured out how to play without a big man. The secret is to have 3 future NBA guards.
  9. C'mon people. It's just a point of view. Over-reaction with all the down arrows is a bit disheartening. It's a discussion board; feel free to disagree; express an opinion of your own. But how is this any different than wishing we could bring a player back from the past to play on this or next year's team? twinswingohuskers is simply saying it's too bad we won't have Shavon one more year for when Morrow and Watson are more experienced sophomores. Why is that so wrong? It's different because it looks like trolling, versus just idle chatter. Calling next year "hopeless" + saying we need to redshirt our best player to have even a shot at .500 the following year + low* total number of previous posts = the appearance of trolling. Hence why I down-voted the post and questioned why people are responding. *I recognize that given my total number of posts, this point could be considered the pot calling the kettle black.
  10. Is this even a serious topic? I initially assumed the OP was trolling, but given the number of responses it looks like we are actually having this conversation.
  11. Not true. I can count to 1,278 quite easily.
  12. I've lurked through countless "what's wrong with this year's team" threads this season, as well as a few "should we or shouldn't we start looking forward to next season" debates. And of course, there's the litany of "I still support Coach Miles, BUT..." comments. So as any good lurker/infrequent poster is apt to do from time to time, I'm dusting off my soap box and telling y'all to take a step back for a second. With tonight's win, we're .500 in one of the best conferences in America. This team doesn't get run out of the gym by anybody. We generally hold serve at home. We've got two separate thousand-point scorers on the team, and they both have eligibility remaining after the year. We've got a Georgetown transfer that contributes but doesn't start because a Florida transfer is better than him. How many Husker teams in the past 15+ years could claim even one of these statements? No, beating Northwestern is not going to do anything to put us back on the bubble, and that's OK. I've been disappointed all season, and it finally struck me that I shouldn't be. Or at the very least my disappointment shouldn't get in the way of enjoying one of the better Husker seasons in recent memory. I'm ecstatic that this coaching staff has raised expectations to the point that a banner year under either of the previous two regimes is considered disappointing today.
  13. I'm gonna have to T you up for asking those questions. Come to think of it, probably 2 techs since you asked 2 questions. Sorry, not sorry, but you're going to have to observe the remaining posts from the locker room.
  14. Probably just slightly less than the chances this thread makes it to 20+ pages. Well, if that's the case then...bump!
  15. I think you are forgetting Jacobsen which would leave us with 1 schollie assuming Petteway goes pro and Leslee gets another year. Ha! Beat you to it.
  16. No Michael Jacobson in the frosh class?
  17. Crystal Ball has him as 100% to Purdue
  18. So Creighton has a self-identified booster intentionally contacting a player that is being recruited by said booster's alma mater, as well as his alma mater's rival. And in his contact, he is openly attempting to convince the player to drop the rival school from consideration. Sounds like a recruiting violation that should be reported to Creighton's complaince office.
  19. My in-laws have a 100-year old family cabin near the Southernmost point on the Appalachain Trail. It's deep in the Chattahoochee National Forest, and is surrounded by 100+ ft tall hemlock trees. There is a very real concern that in a short amount of time, the entire hemlock population will be wiped out by kudzu. It's mind-boggling to to see a forest so thick that you literally "can't see it through the trees" and know that a decade from now it could be decimated by an invasive vine. Kudzu is nasty, nasty stuff.
  20. Just get off to a better start at the beginning of the season. Last year we dropped most of our important non-con games, and dug an early hole in conference play. You can break down individual statistical categories to your heart's content, but frankly just picking up a few extra wins in the non-con while duplicating our record in the B1G will get us up quite a few seed lines in the Dance. And IMO, winning early comes down to returning experience (had very little last year, but lots this year) and confidence (had very little last year, but lots by the end of the year).
  21. I prefer to think of myself as an armchair point guard.
  22. Sarcasm?
  23. We know that Mattie Fowler is 5'9" I've taken her height from the picture and applied that to Ayegba. Ayegba is approximately 11 feet tall. His signing was much bigger than we anticipated. Oh, great! Eleven feet tall? Now we have to worry about him hitting his head on the backboard and the rim every time he's down in the paint. Had we known this guy was going to be such a potential injury liability, I'd have to think we'd have looked more into taking Bigfoot. Can he be called for goaltending if the ball hits his forehead?
  24. Left without an offer.
