  1. Pretty sure I just scuttled my chances at going back-to-back in HHCC, because I predicted we’d lose in a bloodbath. But I too am happy to be wrong!
  2. It’s customary for new posters to introduce themselves. Mind saying a few words about yourself…(pauses to check poster’s name)…Norm, was it?
  3. Why would being a fan of both Creighton and Iowa be worse? Is there some deep-seeded animosity between the Hawkeyes and Jays that I'm unaware of? No one is saying you can't cheer for multiple universities. But you probably crossed the line if those two schools play each other annually in multiple sports, and you have 100% sold your soul if those two teams are rivals. Cheer for Iowa, or UCLA, or Sister Mary's School for the Blind. None of those are a conflict with your Creighton affiliation. But don't be surprised when people get annoyed with you for supporting both Nebraska and Creighton.
  4. Would you wear a Red Sox hat with a Yankee jersey while walking in the Bronx? Rationalizing your Jayskerness doesn't change anything. You're still a Jaysker. Pick a side of the rivalry and loathe the other, like us civilized folk.
  5. My hatred of Creighton has waned a little bit now that I no longer live in Omaha and have moved out of state. I still get fired up for this game, but not as much since I don't have to listen to Jay and Jaysker fans chirp about their team incessantly. I want to win this game for the fans like you that are still living in enemy territory. You deserve a dub, my man. P.S. Grant Gibbs was a thug, and I am bothered by you putting him in the clean cut category. Wearing an accountant's hair cut doesn't change that fact.
  6. I had really hoped they would keep Johnny around on a league minimum, similar to what they did with Roger last year. And Walter is a salty box-to-box mid who always seemed to play well even though he was never going to be the best player on a good team. I think for the right price both of those guys would have been nice to keep around. Everyone else though? The writing was on the wall.
  7. With SKC's season ending early I paid more attention to the start of the European leagues this year. I've kept tabs on AC Milan, Juventus, Celtic, and PSV since they all have multiple USMNT guys on their rosters. It's nice to see guys not just making European rosters, but being major contributors for Champions League sides. Celtic in particular is a blast to watch. High press, high energy, and (other than CB and keeper) a bunch of 5 foot nothin' dudes running around causing chaos. I've officially adopted them as my winter season soccer team. Which, given the less-than-inspiring start to the Nebrasketball season, may be needed. Also, how about Union Omaha! Viva Los Buhos!
  8. 1 through 18 in the conference are only separated by 62 spots. Truly, any team can win any night in conference play. December can't come soon enough, it's gonna be fun!
  9. Are you saying we are going to to forfeit our season and finish in 0th Place?
  10. Huskers 85 Who? 65 9 non-conference wins 19 Total wins And I'll take it a couple steps further. We win one more in the B1G Tourney and get our first win in the Dance.
  11. This is gonna be Brice's team. He will be the guy with the ball in his hands when the shot clock is winding down. That plus shots taken during the flow of play is why I think he leads in both of the volume categories. Connor will have the highest percentage though.
  12. Funny enough, I actually really liked Collier. He used to bring Valentino's pizzas to the Red Zone an hour before tip off, to thank those of us who got there early enough to razz the opponents during warm ups. And in the rare event that a student would get thrown out for crossing the line with a ref, Barry would remember that student and come say 'thank you' to him before the next game. I know Barry came across as aloof, but in my interactions with him he was very personable. That being said, he sure stunk it up in the W's and L's department.
  13. Time to order an updated dictionary, Cip! Dawg is now an acceptable spelling when used in the correct scenario. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dawg
  14. True, military application is the proper litmus test for Olympic events. Can’t wait to watch drone flying, torpedo launching, and competitive contract writing in the 2032 summer games
  15. Why? Again, physical exertion is a fundamental element in the definition of "sport." Archery I don't know enough about to state one way or the other. I'm ignorant as to the amount of physical effort required to pull a bow string and hold it taught. So similar to diving, I'll just shrug my shoulders and say "I don't know." But pistol shooting is not a sport. Does it take skill? Absolutely yes. But is it physically exerting? No. Not remotely. I'm saying that both from personal experience and from observation. If you can win a gold medal while wearing blue jeans, with a hand in your pocket, and not breaking a sweat, it ain't sport. Don't blame me, blame the dictionary.
  16. Not sure how one could argue that cycling and wrestling aren't sports. Skateboarding maybe, just because it isn't an inherently competitive activity. That being said, shooting isn't a sport at all. Zero physical exertion required. Competitive baking is just as much of a sport as shooting.
  17. Just got back from vacation and catching up. Picked a bad week to stay off the interwebs, as the code no longer works.
  18. My knee jerk reaction is to say that diving is a sport, while the other three aren't. But using the Oxford definition of "sport" means the activity needs only the following three elements: physical exertion, skill, and competition. Under that rubric, I have to admit that table tennis and badminton are indeed sports, even if in North America they are relegated to games played while holding a paddle in one hand and beer in the other. Diving is borderline -- highly skilled, definitely done competitively, but not sure whether it can be considered physically exerting. Would probably need a former diver to weigh in on that one. Shooting though? Not a chance. If it can be performed at the highest level in jeans and eye glasses with your hand casually in your pocket, it simply is not a sport. I hereby reduce China's gold medal count by five. America wins! USA, USA, USA!
  19. It's Wednesday, July 10th and GB is no longer the coach of the USMNT. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10127148-gregg-berhalter-reportedly-out-as-usmnt-hc-after-group-stage-exit-at-copa-america
