Ron Mexico reacted to Bugeaters1 in uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 12-Oregon State
That was a fist fight.

Ron Mexico got a reaction from Vinny in uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 11- Hawai'i
I think it’s a mistake to compare this year to last year.
While we are turning the ball over more, we are also getting more turnovers.
We are much better rebounding and defensive team.
We are an extremely deep team.
We have 3 potential volume scorers.
I’m not concerned with RW. We are better with him on the court.
SH has taken a diminished role, however his impact coming off the bench is noticeable. We all know what he brings to the table and it’s all good. Interesting CE low production against UH, even though he played 20 min. Didn’t even notice him. Need to find ways to get him involved in the offense. AM needs to be more consistent.

No. Rollie's deal is that he's never been much better than a 30% 3pt shooter and he should only take those shots as needed. Sometimes it feels like he'll take one at the end of a game we are winning so it makes it slightly harder to profile him as a guy who you don't need to guard at the 3.
Maybe it's the last couple of games moving the needle but the numbers offensively and defensively are significantly better when Worster is on the court

Ron Mexico reacted to Norm Peterson in uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 11- Hawai'i
Last year, we had 11 guys who averaged at least 30% from beyond the arc. That's right, 11.
Right now, we only have 3 guys with at least 7 attempts who are shooting over 30% from 3 (granted, two of them are well into the 40s).
But, after those 3, of all the guys with at least 7 attempts, nobody else is shooting better than 22.2% from beyond the arc.
On six attempts, Andrew Morgan has hit two (33.3%) so I'm not counting him. But other than Morgan, the only three guys on the team shooting better than 22.2% from beyond the arc right now are Bryce, Connor and Juwan.
That is shocking.
Hawaii was daring Rollie to jack up a 3. Daring him. We'll leave you alone back there, dude, go ahead and take that shot. Nope, we're not gonna let you drive. But we'll leave you wide open to miss that 3-pointer. Him and Berke both.
Chase Bryce, Connor and Juwan off the 3-point line and we might have trouble scoring.

Generally agree … unless the host is located in a literal tropical paradise.

Ron Mexico reacted to cipsucks in OT: A Sad Day
Bob Brown passed away. A great, great Husker. I don't remember him as a Husker, but I watched him with pride when he was a Raider. So sad he was at Memorial Stadium with him whose name will never be spoken.

According to one court, juco seasons may not count towards eligibility. This could shake things up.

I don't know about that. Ulis got off on a technicality about gambling. I'd personally expect no leniency.

Saw a player that commited to Tulane in the transfer portal.
He started at LSU and then went to Auburn then to Texas State then to Western Kentucky before now “committing” to Tulane.

With the current state of college sports, I will no longer be surprised with any transfer/portal announcement. That goes for either gender or any sport.

Ron Mexico reacted to Norm Peterson in Mast to medically redshirt
I've done this following an injury and the PT kept reducing my effective weight until I could jog without pain. Which was really cool.
And then the bitch said, "Now, think how much better you'd feel if that's how much you really weighed."

I, for one, downvoted his posts not because he was negative; but because he was communicating insights that were rather pedestrian and actiling like he had some special insight; and he was doing it in a rather lame fashion; and he was hijacking the thread.
All of those things are what I consider my role to be around here. And there's not enough room for two of us.

Mast was a godsend for us. I take him at his word that he will return.

No, never ban free speech. I like when idiots expose themselves. Trolls have been on this board as long as I have. After about 100 + posts, they leave. Just ignore them. The people you have to worry about are the one's who delete posts they disagree with.

My man, we used a scholarship on Blaise Keita and Ramel Lloyd and we still had guys transfer out because they were unhappy with lack of playing time. Mast is now our 5th guy on scholarship in 2025-26. In terms of scholarship usage, this is a no-brainer.

Oregon St would currently be a Q1 if we meet them in Hawaii. Hope Creighton can finish as a Q1 but not in the tourney

Ron Mexico reacted to cornfed24-7 in uneblinstu's postgame chatter : vol 17; ed 8 - Michigan St
Oooof that was baaaaaaad.
Gonna have to rethink my rethink about this team.
They quit today. That's not a good sign.
Essegian is gonna end up being pretty good. I like him alot. He's nowhere close to what Tominaga gave us...yet.
Silver lining - this happens at least once a season with a Hoibergs team. I think the best possible scenario is it happened game one in conference play, on the road, and against MSU.
Team needs to delete this from the memory bank, regroup, and move on.

Ron Mexico got a reaction from cornfed24-7 in North Florida (5-2) vs. Nebraska (5-1) Game Thread
I was really worried coming into the season if JG and BW were going to have to carry this team on their back.
SH coming off the bench as an after thought.
Current NET is 33 before this game.

That was our NET ranking at the end of last season. This year's first NET rankings haven't come out yet. Probably will within the next week.

Gavin— to me— screams one of those guys from our past who seems to completely grow as he matures in our system.
The nice thing is that usually we would need those guys to be “the man” NOW. This year, we can let him grow into his role and not have to force him to do too much. I hope he sticks around.

Ron Mexico reacted to Nebrasketball1979 in Fairleigh Dickinson (1-2) vs. Nebraska (2-0) Game Thread
This resembles what basketball is supposed to look like. Always have to guard against drawing far reaching conclusions on such a small sample size.
And, Cale Jacobson looks like a Sam Hoiberg clone. Doing all the dirty work. Can't have enough of those guys. Fun to watch.

Easy to crap on the offense but the defense has been pretty stingy all three games outside of small spurts

Ron Mexico reacted to hskr4life in 2024-25 Big Ten Media Days
If I could like this more than once I would. There's just something about... even as the 14 seed playing on Wednesday... going into that tournament and thinking 'we could do this'. Don't give me any of the "well if you can't be in the top whatever" hogwash either.
