If you live in a bubble and don't listen to sports talk, I guess it's possible to not have heard much about this game. But the talk is everywhere, so I'd say he's in the minority. The extreme minority.

Right, best defensive rebounding team since conference play. But it's still a massive improvement from where they were coming into conference play. If we've moved up to 9th overall, that's a pretty significant bump considering we were in dead last when non-conference play ended.

Throwback Jersey's for Wisky game
uneblinstu replied to Hoops_Legend's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Not for this one. Sunday is all about this year. Not paying honor to the past, but cementing the legacy of this year's team. Next year's team has the opportunity to be one of the best in school history. They can bust these out on Legend's weekend next year. -
Beilein recruits to a system. He's running basically the same thing he ran at WVU. Izzo's recruited to a system for years. So has Bo Ryan. Those guys have won at a very high level by establishing a system, or perhaps you'd prefer to use identity. I think they're somewhat interchangeable in this context, and as they won they've gotten better and better players to plug into it. There's always going to be some adaptation as players come and go, it's not necessarily going to look the same year to year, but your principles and mentality shouldn't be that fluid. Establish those, recruit to it.

Brewsky's in Lincoln . . . Creighton Bar?
uneblinstu replied to Nebrasketball's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
I don't think Creighton has much of a fanbase west of Gretna. -

I still come back to this. Establishing this is more important than who we're competing with for recruits. Understanding this goes a long way to identifying who is right for your program.

Link Kabadyundi -> Texas Arlington
uneblinstu replied to BrasketballIfYouNeedThem's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
His only offer is still Albany. He visited Oklahoma and has no offer. Remember Vucetic had offers and not just interest from Providence, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, UNCC, Nevada, and Rhode Island yet we all know where he is at today. I could be completely wrong but watching his video he is underwhelming against inferior talent and thats at the high school level. The size and some of his athleticism is intriguing but intrigue only goes so far. Quick, tell me who Shavon's other offers were from. Nevermind, I'll tell you: Long Beach St., Weber St. and Wyoming. I know Shields was a Doc recruit, but find the right guys for your program and get them on board. -
B1G Tourney Bracket Projections - thru 3/5
uneblinstu replied to throwback's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Unfortunately, you didn't remember correctly or were misinformed. There's a lot of misinformation out about that "#5 being the worst case".... as it stands, NU can still finish from 2nd to 6th! Now, that #2 slot may be out the window later tonight... How can we finish 2nd? Wisconsin has a 2 game lead on us with one to play. Best we can finish is 3rd as I look at it. -

B1G Tourney Bracket Projections - thru 3/5

Sparty tonight, win on Sunday, clinch the 4 seed, then the revenge tour can begin. Iowa, then Michigan then championship. -
I'd agree with that assessment. Also, he called the NU win.

Go Sparty! -
Not with as much on the line as there is. Sorry, Mike. Better question is, will Ray start?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I mean, I really don't even know what to say. This team is taking advantage of their opportunity. This is so different from anything I've ever experienced as a fan of Nebraska basketball. - This game started almost exactly like the MSU game, and it had to. The Huskers led wire to wire. That's nuts. They completely understood what was at stake and played like it. They didn't look paniced or overwhelmed by the opportunity. They just took care of business. It was impressive. - Pitchford's fast start was key. - Shields had a huge game, too. - Sounds like Petteway's knee got banged up. Played ok in spurts, but not vintage. - Benny Parker did his thing again. - Kept another opponent to shooting under 38%. I think it's something like 8 straight? That's impressive. - Man, things are gonna be nuts on Sunday. I mean, I honestly don't know what else to say. I'm just so impressed by how this team's played lately and tonight. Can't wait until Sunday!

You mean, like dressing for the job you'd like to have?

I'd agree with that assessment.

2014-15 Diamond Head Classic Teams Announced
uneblinstu replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What about when Chauncey Billups led the Mighty Buffs to a victory over Indiana and General Knight in the NCAAs? And to your second point, it looks like I'll be taking my FIRST Hawaiian vacation. I'd try to spell Mele'kalikimaka but I can't. That was in the late 90's. They made it to the dance in 2003 and then missed the next ten. They really don't have a history much more illustrious than ours. More recent than the 60's, I guess, but it's been pretty sparse for the better part of, well, since then. -
Isn't that what Chris Collins just did? No, because he hasn't shown he can win yet. He's also in Chicago. I'd imagine the Collins name carries some weight around there.
-
I'm just saying, that I'm in the tough cookies category. If he's out, no skin off my nose, we're fighting to get in the dance. That's they're problem, not ours...which it seems that most everyone is in agreement with and just said it a little better than I did.

Whatevs. Play whoever shows up on the floor. They played pretty well without him on Sunday.

Honestly, I want the program to have an identity. Establish that and recruit to it. I've heard it said before that when your most talented player is your hardest worker, that usually means good things for the team as a whole. Right now, that's the case. It's the case at Creighton, too. If that continues for the Huskers, the next two years are gonna be spectacular. If that rubs off on Tai, that would be nice, too. Find more kids like that, establish your identity. Recruit the most talented kids you can to it. (see Wisconsin)

Bad News/ vegas odds of us making trny

We've already defied the odds by getting where we're at now. Let's keep that rolling.
