  1. Calipari to the Nebrasketball bench as an assistant! What a coup! Things really are looking up here!
  2. Try being a Royals and Cubs fan. Brutal. Just brutal Dude, we're Nebrasketball fans...
  3. Mmmm, schools like OSU and Indiana are gonna be fine. OSU and Indiana consistently bring in good talent. Even with all the turnover this year, it's not a shoe-in that we're going to be better than either of those schools over the next couple of years at all.
  4. My Nats waited out the Mets starter and clobbered a terrible Mets bullpen. That was fun.
  5. Much like stocks, diversification is good. Baseball leads into football which leads into basketball which leads into baseball...it just keeps going. There is no offseason.
  6. He can take Peltz's spot.
  7. He was probably referring to the 6000 fans Boehm referenced.
  8. Twin towers of Hammonds and Thompson could be fun.
  9. When you do things that haven't been done in more than 15 years, that's historic. Is there more out there for this team, sure, but this was still a historic season. The past 16 years are the perspective through which we view what happened this season. This season was satisfying on so, so many fronts. But, they're saying next season has a chance to be "historic". Winning 20/21 games & another top 5 finish wouldn't qualify IMO....... just sayin' On that basis alone, you're probably right, but next year won't be defined by win totals or anything that happens if during the regular season. It will be defined by how they handle the certain increase in expectations and whether this team can take the next step of winning a game or two when they get back to the dance, because that will be the expectation. If they do that, then it will undoubtedly be a historic season. I don't know if that's how ESPN approached things, but frankly, it's difficult to put a definition on what will or won't be disappointing on this side of things because there are so many variables that will impact what happens next year that we can't remotely anticipate yet. But this team absolutely has a chance to be "historic" independent of what their win total or finish in the conference ends up being.

  11. I think we'll get a game vs. a tourney team.
  12. It's not at all a given that the big four from each other will play each other. A couple of them probably will but with Virginia and Nebraska making big jumps in their respective conferences this season, you could see them get paired with one of the big boys from the other. That wouldn't surprise me one bit. Send Virginia to Michigan St. and Nebraska to, IDK, Louisville, perhaps. UVA's second leading scorer is a senior, but the rest in the top 5 are all sophomores and a freshman. Not sure if any of them are looking at going pro, but they'll probably be a top 10 team to start the year. They'll get one of the B1G's big guns, I think. I'm hoping they do the same for NU and let them showcase against a bigger name.
  13. Also long is the list of teams that didn't handle expectations the season after their breakthrough.
  14. The list is long of teams that couldn't handle the big stage the first time they got on it.
  15. I don't think Miles is in any hurry to leave nor does he view this as a stepping stone and even if he does become a hot commodity, I have a hard time seeing him taking anything other than an elite job unless for some reason Eichorst decides to stop paying him. I don't think that's going to happen either. Also, I don't expect there to be any elite jobs open this year. But on everything else, I'm totally with you Norm. I was sitting a sports bar with a bunch of friends and when NU scored, I think their fifth point, or maybe it was later in the game when Shields hit the first three, I dont' remember, but most of the bar erupted in the biggest bronx cheer I've ever heard. I was so angry. It abated quickly, but I was like, good god, guys, we're in the NCAA tourney. Think about that for a second. I mean, I know the game didn't go well, but think about where we've come in such a short period of time. Enough with this sarcastic cheering like "OMG, they actually did something right for a change".
  16. ...someone's been reading Mark Cuban's thoughts on football's future...
  17. No one is expected to stand. But if you don't, you may not be able to see. Kind of like paying for a seat but running the risk of sitting behind Dave Hoppen. lol..I know the people behind me next season better be ready to either be standing with me or looking at my back side. I plan on standing. If they make the comment that they paid for their seats so have a right to see the game...I will just say I paid for mine too so I have just as much a right to stand and sit when I chose. Good luck with the ushers, and then the police, if you insist on that every game, all game, all season. Coach Miles told you to tell the ushers you didn't have to. Problem solved. He was talking directly to the student section, btw.
  18. Those schools do have good creative writing courses, though.
  19. Same excuse Pitchford used when leaving Florida. Probably worth the look, though.
  20. Except for the students. For them, it should be "no-sit" every game. yes.
  21. This should be reserved for teams no worse than sweet 16 contenders. Creighton doesn't qualify.
  22. Buzz Williams to Virginia Tech. Now it's sounding like Ben Howland to Marquette.
