  1. I've heard that too, and if that's the case, there's only one option.
  2. This. I don't know the statistic on college basketball, but I can tell you that MLB teams make about 70% of their revenue purely from ticket sales. That's not actually true anymore. Most teams now are making most of their money on their media rights than anywhere else. There are exceptions, but almost nobody is making 70% of their revenue off of gate receipts according to this. I think an exhibition game out west would have more of a long term benefit than any short term losses in revenue. http://www.bloomberg.com/infographics/2013-10-23/mlb-team-values.html
  3. It might not be, but for an exhibition game, I don't think much would be lost. I'm not suggesting they hold a regular season game in one of those places.
  4. why not play at the Heartland center in GI that would be a 25 min drive for me. And the Heartland event center is a better facility IMHO. Because I was familiar with the arena in Kearney and didn't see anything in Hastings. Doesn't really matter where it's played, I just think it'd be a cool idea to take the team and play a game or two out west for the fans that might not get to see them often. Doesn't really matter where it's played. I know the volleyball team has done a similar type of thing in the past.
  5. You know what I'd love to see them do, barnstorm for their exhibition. Go play Hastings College at the Viero Event Center in Kearney for the exhibition. I don' think they'd ever do it, but it'd be a heckuv an event and get a lot of people an opportunity to see this team that normally wouldn't.
  6. I'm hopeful that we get a marquee game in the ACC/B1G challenge, even if it's a road game. I think if we have any other high profile games, it'll come through one of the networks setting it up.
  7. I don't think it needs to be an either/or situation. Bring them both in, let them battle it out and see what happens from there. We need depth and more talent. Both help in both areas.
  8. ASU = Appalachian St, fyi
  9. Shaping up to be a PBA vs. Hinkle showdown.
  10. Rosenthal doesn't typically retweet random tweets like that. And he seems to know a thing or two that might not be public information. He's probably on to us. He's just RT'ing stuff to see how long before it ends up on here.
  11. Just passing the info along...
  12. RT'd by Rosenthal, so it must be legit. 6' 8" PF, btw. Averaged 14/7
  13. Is it even legal for a head coach to take a job somewhere else and take a player with him? Seemed to work for the Alfords and the McDermotts Not familiar with the Alfords, but McDermott never played for Northern Iowa. He switched over only after signing his LOI. Also, Pappa McD didn't come from the school that Doug signed with. He came from ISU. Slightly different, perhaps. And it's not like Covington is Moliari's kid (that we know of...).
  14. Is it even legal for a head coach to take a job somewhere else and take a player with him?
  15. Couldn't we just bring in Aaron Craft as a Grad Assistant to do that?
  16. Remember, a lot of us were underwhelmed by the Miles hire at first, too.
  17. 33 yrs of experience would be a coaching advantage for Miles & Co. I understand why Miles would want him. I'm curious why Molinari would want to make that move unless he's to the point where the demands of being a head coach and the prospects of landing a power conference job have passed him by.
  18. Did he get let go? Why would he go from a head coach to assistant like that? Is being an assistant at a power conf. school better for his career than being a head coach at a mid-major?
  19. Interesting... His Bio: http://www.goleathernecks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=1437627
  20. I made my renewal donation. I have no interest in moving though, I'm right where I want to be. And for next year, I know I'll be there. But yeah, everything I've seen has been about trying to get on waiting lists or upgrade their seats. I know a couple of friends of mine are trying to do that. They're not overly optimistic about that happening considering the excitement around the team. I don't expect there to be much attrition this year.
  21. We just need depth. If one of those guys goes down, we get awfully thin in a hurry.
  22. It seems I'm not the only one that gets a strong Biggs 2.0 vibe from info on this kid. I was thinking more along the lines of Spencer...
  23. Pitchford as a C and Smith as a SF? Do we have another Smith on the roster that plays the PG that I'm not aware of? This would be my projected depth chart: PG - Webster, Parker SG - Petteway, Webster SF - Shields, Petteway, Fuller PF - Pitchford, Rivers, Fuller C - Smith,Pitchford, Hammond We will next year, yes.
