  1. With two left we need to save them. Webster having to waste one earlier after falling down hurts Would have liked to stop their run before they tied it instead of saving a timeout. No guarantee a time out kills the run
  2. Hammond isn't going to come in and perform on an All Big 10 level his freshman year. In that case, Serge is our one big man away and he's already on the roster. Oh, wait. No, I don't think you can count Hammond. I think you have to say we're one contributing big away. I guy who is starter-worthy. Not just any big. And, heck, maybe Hammond comes in right off the bat and is the guy we need him to be but that's not likely unless he's a 5-star, future lottery pick. Shields was starter-ready last year as a freshman, but he wasn't a five-star, future lottery pick.I realize he's not a big (per se), but to think the only type of guy who could contribute as a freshman would have to be a five-star is a bit of a stretch. Brandon Ubel contributed as a freshman (though he didn't start, unless my memory is foggy). He wasn't anything near a five-star. But we are not a freshman-Brandon-Ubel-caliber big away.
  3. I won't go that far until he picks things up on the other end.Averages 5.25 rebounds a game, nearly a steal a game, and 0.7 blocks a game. Not staggering numbers by any means but he's certainly not afraid to get in there and mix it up. Harder for a guard to rack up points, rebounds, and blocks like a true enforcer such as Hamilton. Is he a premier defender? No way. But Petteway is no slouch, either. Miles consistently mentions his need to approve on the defensive end - along with Biggs, but that's not a concern any more. He struggles with rotations.

  5. We're still pretty young, which makes winning all the games you're supposed to that much tougher.
  6. I thinks it's largely confidence with Shavon. Him and Tai could use a nice shot of it. Maybe go Ron Artest style in the locker room
  7. Did a day trip to The Barn about 10 years ago. Conklin dropped 20 on Kris Humphries and the Huskers walked out of there with the win. Great venue. Neat building. I was at that game, as well.
  8. What ever happened to the cheers 'we will rock you' clip??
  9. Wouldn't the prep team consist of prep players and the other teams consist of "underclassmen"? I.e. Pinder is listed as a senior and will likely be in the prep team next year, right? Or am I off?
  10. Thank you. Obviously next year will be more telling
  11. Thanks, thats what I get for trusting maxpreps.com for roster accuracy. So it would appear that Munnings and Bain are playing ahead of him? Bain going to CSU and Munnings is uncommitted? Help me out... it's hard to find stats on minutes and such. If the guy is playing behind a CSU recruit, I would have to think he's a project...
  12. He can graduate this spring and play wherever he wants.
  13. I agree concessions for a brand new arena has been disappointing. As has the service. Does the university even have any control over it?
  14. So does selling out a 15,000+ seat arena. Would we prefer to only sell 8,000 or so tickets to "diehards" that stay for the entire game? Not disagreeing with anything your saying - I would prefer all the exits remain open. But as far as our "brand" goes, we're Nebraska basketball... we can't really expect the best of both worlds (selling out and everyone being "diehards") at this point. Whether it is with Mr. Biggs, fans leaving early down by the court or the music that we play at timeouts. The meaning of what I underlined above is what is going to determine how far we go in the next 5 years. And the next 5 years will set us up for the 10 after that. It is all about the brand and I love the way our head coach gets that. I do not disagree... but you have to build the brand, it doesn't just show up.

  16. No, that was never supposed to be fixed. It was predicted on here going into the season that it would be even worse then Devaney due to the parking situation. And the predicton has, of course, come true. If everyone wants to let the fact that some fans leave early make them miserable, hey, go ahead. You'll be pissed off for the rest of your lives, 'cause it ain't stopping. (Kind of like me and the refs ) For me, I am focusing on how cool it is that after several seasons of having between 4,000 and 8,000 people watching the Huskers, we have well over 15,000 for every conference game, despite being a game out of last place, crappy weather, and every game being on TV. Well done, Husker basketball fans! +2 We sold out the arena... naturally there are going to be a number of fans who aren't diehards and do not care to stay until the end - especially with 8:00 PM start times. There are going to be some diehards who do not care to stay until the end. That's their prerogative. While I might think they're crazy during games like Michigan or Minnesota, I do not understand why people would let it bother them or go out of their way to heckle them. I had a friend leave the game early (before half time) last night because he and his wife were going to a concert in Omaha. Is he a "bad fan" for leaving early or a better fan for driving 2 hours round trip to watch the first half? Why does it even matter?
  17. Perfect. If he were at just any OPS HS he would start, lead in points, and be the star. His problem is the prep school he is at is loaded with top shelf talent. There's 8 or so guys with D1 talent on his team. Look at a former target of NU in Jonah Bolden. 4 star that transferred from his prep school because he was told he would only get 7-10 minutes a game if that and he's Rivals' 62nd ranked player getting told he would get limited minutes in high school. I wouldn't judge this year on what will happen next year when he probably starts. Remember he was putting up double digits on team USA at the Adidas nations tournament last summer so he has the talent. So where are the guys playing ahead of him going?
  18. I like this. I think they should change it up with creative ideas to seem *bored* while the other team is announced. The snoring noises are a good idea, as well. Not a fan of "who cares; you suck!" Also - what happened to the Husker Power chant (or are we still doing it and I'm losing my mind)?? It would be much more formidable with 15k people there.
  19. They were ranked 15 and were as high as what? 3rd?Beside let them have some fun, before they have to get the lawn and turn down the music. I don't want to kill off the enthusiasm. I just think storming the floor every time we beat a rated (or even a non-rated) team at home tells the nation, and more importantly recruits, that we don't expect to win here very often. Let's act like we belong in the Big Ten. I'm sure there will be differing opinions on this, but I completely agree. That said, the slow-motion rush would be awesome.
  20. Give me a break, how many time has the football stadium released the balloons too early? No clue - I can't (or don't) afford football tickets. But I was just razzing them a bit... wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
  21. I'd be interested to know what little things (no pun intended) that you think Parker does that doesn't show up on the stat sheet? He's not a great shooter, he can't be used to double team, he constantly gets beat off the dribble by the guy he is guarding, etc.... I'm not saying he doesn't put forth any effort as I know he's paying as hard as can but just curious what things you think he does that don't show up on the stat sheet? On-ball defense and ball handling. I would put him above Ray in both areas. I'm not a fan of Parker, by any means. As for Ray, I agree with whoever said he is a situational player. He should continue to start or be one of the first off of the bench, but if he's not getting/hitting shots, once the other team begins to lose focus on him, he does nothing for us. He is an average defender (above average for our team, I suppose), a poor rebounder, a poor ball handler, and is no threat to drive. What bothered me about him last night is that after about four minutes he did a LOT of standing on offense.
  22. Keep the creative free throw choreography up. Hopefully the entire arena will join in critical situations. Oh, but make sure you know the call before throwing your confetti... whoops!
