Max Bielfeldt (Michigan 2015 Transfer)

Is there reason to believe we're second in line? -
"We're going to find someone good." Check.

Why is it so incredible? 1. Go from an average assistant in Harriman to an assistant from a top 10 program. 2. Might bring a 4* PF with him who is immediately ready to play. 3. Furthering of the Chicago pipeline. Has Dickerson been linked to us at all aside from the fact that Burno was his lead recruiter at Florida and we need a big? -
"Personally, I'm not so sure the reward is worth the risk with this guy." We'd be singing a different tune if he were coming here.
-
Didn't Petteway punch a guy in a game before he came here?? He turned out ok.
-
We had a lot to offer this guy. Tough recruiting loss

Need a big ready to play in 2016, any ideas?

My source is my thought process. He has the grades to apply for academic scholarships. I assume there are rules for walk-ons with academic scholarships to prevent/minimize people from doing this. Does anyone know if these exist and what they are? If this does happen, by all means bump this thread because I won't believe it until I see it. I think you are right. Otherwise you could be getting all kinds of guys on academic scholarships to play sports. It would too easy to bend those rules. Academic scholarship (Regents) covers tuition only. You can get other academic scholarships to cover books (Honors program), but that requires you follow a program. I don't know of any that cover board and food... -
I'm not saying he's dropped off at all... But he hasn't raised his stock from where he was projected last year. People have acted like it's a high probability he'll go, but kids don't usually leave early to maybe be a late-second round pick.
-
Do people still think TP going pro after this year is a probability, or even a realistic possibility?? His draft analysis last year suggested he MIGHT get drafted in the late second round - but didn't put a high probability on it. It's a young season, but he certainly hasn't improved his stock to date.

Going Pro Prediction Percentages
nebrasketball10 replied to tbowman's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Agree with what you're saying, although I'd put him at 50%. Are people seriously thinking Walt might go pro after this year?? Like European?? -
I disagree. I've heard that TP's official draft analysis last year was not very positive at all (like end if second round, if drafted). I believe he keeps it posted in his locker for motivation. Needs much improvement on defense and jump shot. Right now, he'd be back. I can only tell you that Miles told fans who attended the Husker Hoops golf outing Wednesday that he felt there was no way Terran would return for his senior season. The rationale given was that he had improved his game dramatically during the off-season and had really enhanced his standing among NBA scouts. I'm just passing along what Miles said to people who were there. Obviously, it's a dynamic situation, but people need to understand that the staff themselves feel that TP is almost certainly gone after this year. Good insight - thank you. He certainly knows what he needs to improve and obviously puts the time in. If that's the case, we should reap the benefits on the court and in the recruiting game. What a pitch that would make! I would be surprised if he makes the necessary improvements on defense to be a top 16 pick. So I will predict that he either comes back, or ends up at the end of the first round/beginning of second round.

Decade-Long NU Recruiting Analysis

Results (wins and losses) is pretty objective. Obviously relies on more than just recruiting, but it's a big part. -
Decade-Long NU Recruiting Analysis
nebrasketball10 replied to OurDecay's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I agree it confirms what we've all assumed, but also contains flaws - as listed with your caveats. No one would consider Moses a 4-star prospect at this point. Also, it looks like Miles is getting credit for 3 Sadler guys. To me, the ultimate proof with be 2... 3... 4 years from now. And I expect the data to continue to support our current assumptions. Side note - recruiting SHOULD be hand-over-fist better... The administrate is taking basketball more seriously than it ever has. -

Do we know he's deciding today? Or is that coming from a source of a poster? Sorry if I missed it in the last few pages. -
Big Ten Basketball Recruiting
nebrasketball10 replied to Husker4Life's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Shields is the only stretch?? Walt isn't? Frye was a top 100 recruit that started as a freshman for a major program and - I believe - received all conference recognition every year before becoming a lottery pick. That's not a stretch? I certainly think Walt will continue to develop, but thinking he has the potential to be a top 10 NBA selection (or ANY selection at this point) is a major stretch. Also, did we get a backup KU guard?? -
Big Ten Basketball Recruiting

We may have been recruiting them 2 years ago, but that was nowhere near "as we are now." The difference between interest and visits from highly-rated recruits between then and now is like the difference between night and day, the difference between up and down, the difference between a steep ascent and stuck-in-the-mud. And the recruiting improvements are quite apart from the fourth-place finish in the B1G last year with whatever recruits (apparentlly they were either bad or terrible, according to some posters on this board) Doc and Tim had managed to muster--and that was against all those four-star-laden teams for which we all apparently pine . . . not to mention the final-16 and final-four teams we beat last year! It's not quite, "Oh, woe is us," anymore. I agree with this sentiment. I just disagree when people make it sound like the previous administration was ONLY recruiting against teams like Maryland Eastern Shore. -

Probably more in range of 2 and 3 stars players as opposed to 3 and 4 star players. I don't believe Sadler or Collier even sniffed a 4 star player and/or got them to visit. I have totally faith in Miles and the coaching staff that they know what they are doing and we'll see some good results come November signing period. Agau? I actually think - crazy as it is - that some sites had Alonzo Edwards as a 3 and 4 star. -

This kind of recruiting battle sucks to lose. Not a better program, not closer to home, nowhere near the same facilities... Ugh -
We knew he was going to do that. Part of the reason they didn't do one of those team bonding trips. I haven't been reading the OWH, but never saw it in the LJS til now. Before all I saw was that he was considering it.

Agreed that this represents a prime example as to why it's not OK to carry open scholarship(s) for multiple years in a row.
