Agreed. Wouldn't try it without signs This would be completely awesome. Unless someone has signs it simply won't happen.

I was going to ask if students ever camp out anymore. Heck, we camped out during the Collier years and there wasn't all that much to get excited about.

No noise makers. And vuvuzelas are mentioned on the not allowed list per NCAA and B1G rules. Is there a vuvuzela smartphone app? Kids love the apps. Now THERE'S something the crowd could do during opposing free throws. 15,000 phone vuvuzelas! -
Most important home game in Nebraska history ...

Negative, B1G doesn't allow noise makers of any kind and vuvuzelas are specifically mentioned. Can someone point me in the direction of the rules so I can see what (if anything) can be used to make extra noise?? I have no problem pressing the issue and getting something taken away... I just want to make sure I am not kicked out. I will have my collapsable vuvuzela for late in the game. I doubt it will be recognizable from the 300s. -

Serious question... Are vuvuzelas allowed at bball games?? I wanna make some noise from 312 -
FWIW... in a recent speaking engagement, Miles said that he expects Hammond to develop into a player, noting that he was not sure when that would be. To me, it came off as "do not expect too much right away." He also said Fuller (and Hawkins) have a long way to go on defense before they will be able to consistently contribute.

I think that Ray breaks out tomorrow...

IF we open this thing up tomorrow... IF... I don't mind letting ray use it as an opp to fire away and try to get things going. -

I agree - if we could get him to produce like he was, that would be great. I was saying I don't see him developing into much more than that.

Possible, but it's not Neb vs Minnesota, is Neb vs the rest of the bubble teams. Dave will disagree, but conference affiliation has no influence on how teams are picked. Not Dave but if conference affiliation doesn't matter then why isn't every team given a code for the selection committee that doesn't have their name and just has their RPI, record, etc.? It would be pretty obvious who you were looking at when reviewing their schedules...

Never was a fan of the curve... I do not understand evaluating someone's content knowledge as it relates to others in a specific class. Shouldn't it relate to the content itself?? (Don't answer that... I don't want to sidetrack my own thread!)

In an effort to generate discussion alternate to whether or not any one of the two million "pundits" have us in their latest "next four out," I would like to propose an exercise: What one reasonable trait would you like to see our players improve on - both in the immediate (to assist our stretch run) and in the long run (offseason to improve the team going forward). For example, you can't hope Benny develops an outside shot in the short run, but that could be a long-term improvement. I am going to list my evaluation to major contributors. Tai Webster: Short-term: Confidence - especially in attacking the rim. Long-term: Outside shooting. Terran Petteway: Short-term: I'm nitpicking, but maybe decision making (continue taking care of the ball) and rotational defense. Long-term: On-ball defense. I would like to see him become a lock-down defender that can shut down the other team's best player. I think this would best serve him as he potentially moves to the next level. Shavon Shields: Short-term: Consistency in attacking the rim and finishing strong. Long-term: Continued improvement in outside shooting. David Rivers: Short-term: Consistently finish at a higher elevation! Long-term: Add 10 lbs of good weight. Walter Pitchford: Short-tem: Increased aggression in rebounding. Long-term: Round out offensive game. I do not expect him to be a back-to-the-basket player, but would like to see him be able to catch the ball on the block, open up, and beat slower post defenders, as well as take slower post defenders off the dribble from the perimeter if/when we go five-wide. Ray Gallegos: Short-term: Find his shot! (this could include increased selection) Long-term: NA Leslee Smith: Short-term: Perform role more consistently. We do not need a ton from him - solid post defense and rebounding. But he should be able to do this consistently. Long-term: Same thing. I do not expect him much more from him - but this is a very important role and he can fill it very well if he performs as we have seen him do so in flashes more consistently. Benny Parker: Short-term: None Long-term: Develop a respectable perimeter shot. Not including Hawkins, because I think immense improvement is needed (and expected) from year 1 to year 2. I absolutely agree with concerns regarding foot speed/quickness, as he has consistently been a step behind when playing this year.

The long and the short of it is, most people don't know what they are talking about.This^^^^. Nebraska has come out of nowhere over the last month and there are a lot of 'experts' that still haven't studied up on the Nebraska NCAA tournament resume. You would think it would be simple enough to look but since they don't know, when asked the question they just spew standard answers like need some more wins, not enough big wins, too many losses, etc. They don't know. Gradually, this team is forcing more people to look. People will take notice. Just look at the bracketmatrix. Just last week we were in 1 bracket. Now somewhere in the neighborhood of 18 or so. The momentum is continuing to build and the experts will finally get it right. Yep, and it pains me to hear people say we can't lose another game in the regular season or we're done. You're telling me a team has to win 9 games in a row in the 2nd best league in the nation and 11 out of 12 to get in? Because 10-2 in the last 12 games of the Big Ten wouldn't be good enough? You'd have to have been atrocious before that to not be in, and we were not atrocious. We were 9-9 with 6 of the losses to teams projected to be 2-7 seeds. I still believe if we go 2-2 (18-12, 10-8) and win 1 in the Big Ten tournament, we should be in. Hands down. I wouldn't feel good about it, but I think we'd deserve it. Then you've got teams like Providence who lose 3 in a row, 4 out of 5, 5 out of 8...they haven't won back-to-back games sine January. Yet they seemingly can't do anything to be removed from the tournament field. I'm pretty sure that - while SOME weight may be given to recent success - the Committee is supposed to look at a team's entire body of work - not how 'hot' they are now. Not saying I think we have to win out the regular season to get in, just saying we might be over playing the streak factor.
