I guess Tai is going back to New Zealand to try out for the FIBA team. Was really hoping he'd stay here all summer.

Leslee Smith out for 2014-15 with an ACL tear

I don't think this means that Hammond plays for certain. Miles has previously said that Hammond needs time to develop... If he's not ready to play, he's not ready to play. Re: Smith - he contributed well early in the season, but really fell off late. He was going to have to improve quite a bit to be a consistent contributor. I was disappointed he returned to the BVI to play... He wasn't going to make the necessary improvements against that competition. Maybe he'll get a 6th year and can improve his hands, touch, and foot speed. -
Andrew White III - Kansas Transfer

If he wants to commit "as soon as he's certain" I don't like our chances as this drags on. Hope I'm wrong. -
Have to respectfully disagree, Handy. If he stays injury free and has a great year, he is gone. He will get first round guaranteed money, and for a guy who will already have had 4 years of college, that is a no-brainer to take. He'll have to improve quite a bit to be a first-round lock. Not saying he won't... But I've heard his draft board response was possible late second round. I would bet he stays four years.

Andrew White III - Kansas Transfer

I disagree as I have feeling we are going to land this kid. But don't we always seem to start strongs on kids but can never close on them. Such as Cornish and DengOr . . . you mean "always" have trouble "closing" on kids like Petteway and Pitchford and Webster and Fuller? Perhaps he means highly-rated players or when competing against high-level programs. -
Both arenas are top notch. Right now I'd certainly give the edge to PBA, but time will tell.
-
This guy (White) would thrill me and make Cornish a distant memory.

I hate Creighton as much as anyone, but they're coming off a top 20 season in which they produced the national POY. We can talk about how bad we assume they're going to be next year, but that's a decent looking resume from an outsider's perspective.

2014 SG Jordan Cornish -> UNLV-> Tulane

1. I never thought he was any good. 2. We probably cooled on him. 3. Clearly Boi$e paid him. Am I forgetting anything?? 4. Something to do with Creighton.

Joking, right? You're not actually tweeting at him, are you? You do realize how many people tweet at them right? I mean these guys retweet stuff all the time sent to them and thats just a tiny fraction. I know some people get worked up because "it may hurt Nebraska" trust me the NCAA can do nothing about it. Just go look at the tweets mentioning Jordan and you will see every fan base is working him hard. I can say I did it to Tarin to get Hallice Cooke and Nate Hawkins to get Elbert Robinson but outside of that I try to not follow a player until he's committed. Kambdy, you need to improve your twitter recruiting. -
.I'd rather fill it with a walk on than fling schollies at anybody and everybody until the spot is filled. I wouldn't call it a major failure either. They've targeted certain players, recruited them hard, and if they say no, they say no. Major failure on the coaches part? How? There's gonna be a lot of this opinion if we don't fill out the class. And that's fine, I just don't agree that it's a failure on the coaches end. Disappointing, yes, but failure, no. Specific targets for a specific plan not a casting net to ensure that we fill all the spots. If we fail to fill a spot for the third straight year, then the plan might need adjusting.

Any news on Cooke?

2014 SG Jordan Cornish -> UNLV-> Tulane
nebrasketball10 replied to uneblinstu's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Not to dampen this recruiting class but Hammond is no longer a top 150 player. Right, and Moses was a 4-star four years ago. Doesn't hold much weight now. Of course I'm not much into "best recruiting class since" thinking... I agree with whoever said time will tell. -
Deng Deng 2014 Juco F *committed to Baylor 5.4.14*

This. If we don't get a guy as a result what someone else does, who cares why? -

Ya this doesn't seem like a good development -
What we see is a fraction of the actual "recruiting push" you talk about. And no, we have not "arrived" as a location for one-year transfers. Our coaches can do their best to sell what we just did, but other coaches will be quick to point out that it was the first time in 16 years and we subsequently got blown out. Many outsiders - and a few insiders - likely think we snuck up on some people, had a relatively simple conference schedule, and had a lucky year.

The silent commitment, I presume, would be from a transfer who isn't ready to announce or maybe he has to get his credits figured out? That scenario would make sense. Can you recruit a player that hasn't announced he's transferring? Or is that like tampering in the pros?
-
What would be the purpose of a silent commit at this point (after signing day)?
-
Is that common out of season? For someone to give a silent commitment before doing so verbally?

Who do you want?? Within reason

A lot of the guys being mentioned "within reason" have not been linked to us outside of this board... -
Leslee needs to work on his hands, too
