Leon Gilmore - 2014 PF
nebrasketball10 replied to Nebrasketballer's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
First top 150 recruit as rates by Rivals. -
I'd say mostly the increased commitment to the program by the university.
-
I like the recruiting board. It's the main board for me. Not that a recruit would ever look at our message board, but there's a decent amount of negative talk about Hammond in that thread.

Why was this moved? He hasn't signed an LOI... Isn't the recruiting forum for players who haven't signed an LOI?

Anyone see the Hammond article in the OWH? No mention of him being a top 150 recruit, only mentions Texas Tech as having offered, and failed to list UCLA (or any other decent teams, less Witchita St) as showing interest. If I had only read that article, I would've been very unimpressed and thought this was a ho-hum get, similar to what we've seen in recent years.

I can imagine the pitch now Miles: Leon this is 85,000 soon to above 90,000 people going insane for a meaningless non con game, can you imagine the atmosphere when were undefeated with Michigan State rolling in here and a shot to clinch the division a play Ohio State in the BIG TEN title game. Leon: no coach this is crazy Creighton showed me some lame soccer game and their blueprints for their facilities when i may not even be there anymore, Miles: Now Leon, imagine if you come to NU, 2014 were rolling after a pretty good season NCAA tourney appearance second straight season of sell outs and we play Michigan and Ohio state fresh off of sweet 16 appearances in the first games of the year at Pinnacle Bank Arena...imagine that atmosphere Leon: speechless, nods head commits to NU then and there. To play devil's advocate, Creighton could point out the fact that they're coming off something Nebraska's never even seen... very true...but a the same time all of crieghton's watershed moments are forgetteable to kids of Gilmore's age, the last time they made it to the round of 32 when they beat florida? i was a sophmore in high school...im 25 now. granted they've had success recently with McDermott but, i feel we have momentum hope, THE BEST CONFRENCE IN COLLEGE BBALL!! i think he hears our pitch and tells creighton to kick rocks...if we go after him...if not and we feel he isnt what we need than he go watch all the soccer he can digest...(i can only stand about 5 mintues) They made the round of 32 this year. And while I completely agree with you, the BIG was the best conference for one year. Again, I agree to the points we should be selling him on... but it's not like CU has nothing to offer. Even though I despise them.

How should we use the last 2014 scholarship. Poll
nebrasketball10 replied to FredsSlacks's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I think if most anyone on that list was willing to commit, we would accept it right now. Maybe you were trying to ask who we most HOPE to get with our remaining scholarship? -
There's a thread in the recruiting forum. Think it technically belongs there until he signs an LOI
-
Hopefully he backs off his wants-to-take-all-5-visits stance. Great news

Ya they pulled back the posters that year and issued "read to win" posters. -

Umm...OK? Since you feel the need to call out "The People" (me) who said it was a bball arena first and foremost.. Yes, absolutely terrific sight lines for hockey. I think 30%+ of the seats will have partial visibility of the ice. As I said before, it CAN host hockey but it's not an ideal hockey arena. Basketball first, everything else second. If you would like to tell my source that they're full of ____ then be my guest. They might find it a little weird though, considering they designed the thing. No no no no no. I'm not calling out you. I'm calling out people like Marc Boehm who promised us this would be an environment ideal for watching basketball and creating a home court advantage. An arena specifically designed with hoops in mind. Sight lines planned for basketball. I specifically recall them using the words "sight lines." Fans were supposed to be so close to the floor that hockey ice wouldn't even fit. And just like with the student standing section along an entire side and the two ends, the basketball focus seems to have fallen victim to $$$ concerns. Gotta be able to throw down some ice so that knock-off Disney characters can slide around on skates and crap like that. Gotta be able to do something with the place when basketball season is over. Oh well. (Why did you think I was calling YOU out, concrete? Never seen you even post about this that I can recall.) The students won't be standing along one side and both ends??

So when can I pick up this salsa??
-
Dang it, didn't see the next page... Thought I made the cut. I'll wait for Christmas in December
-
I'd love some... Do I post enough to be eligible??

gotta lock this dude down I'm all in on a guy that is described as Andre Almeida and comes with the probable nickname of "Fat Elbert" i understand your hesitation but for every Andre, there is a Roy Hibbert, who when he first arrived at GTOWN couldnt go up and down the court or do 5 pushups. I trust the new coach to coach him up and get him in shape, i dont think Nebraska can say we dont want a 7 footer who has legit size and is being courted by several other name schools, yet or any time soon. Id rather be wrong and have a space eater like a andre, than say no and watch this dude blossom into the next Shaq or something I don't think it's a 1:1 ratio... more like for every 100 (add as many 0's as you see fit) Andre's, there is a future NBA all-star.

It doesn't really say there won't be runzas... I bet they're still there in one of the stands.
-
I thought he'd been discussed before... thought maybe there was a connection.
-
Remind me of the connection?

I agree Rey starts at the beginning of the year. I hold to my many statements that IF the newcomers are as good as we hope, he will not/cannot be starting by conference play. I don't see Webster starting to start the year, but hopefully he will before too long. I also see him playing the 2 his freshman year.

It doesn't take an inside "source" to know this is far from a sure thing... One hurdle cleared, tho

how is he going to plummet? he cant control tai's test scores. All tim can do is go out and compete for the best players and athlete's like he is doing now, plus the real class that we need some big time players is 2015.I'm not saying it would be miles fault if Tai doesn't make it, but our 2013 class is going to be very average without Tai.I'm not sure I understand your logic of 2015 being a more important class than 2014. We have no true post threat, and without Tai there would be no dynamic guards. I assume you mean that there will be no dynamic guards in the 2013 class, not that there will be no dynamic guards on the team...Do you think Biggs will be dynamic? Please don't say Rey... Good player - far from "dynamic". At least by my definition Petteway Ah that's fair. I think he will be, as well - though I thought he was more of a 3
