  1. Patton and Daum show up on NBA draft predictions, so it's a good team.
  2. The Euro step just looks funny. No stats to back it up, but I'd bet there's far less traveling than on a regular layup. The extra step on a regular layup is quick, while on a Euro it's so much more noticeable. It's one step to left, one to right and up. (or vice versa) Hard to do a third slow-motion step without it being called. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lk6-vgNGZM
  3. Jimmy, it sounds more impressive if you say, "I prefer the eye test."
  4. So I guess everyone must think we're going to play zone next year? Because Copeland can't guard at 3 any more than McVeigh, Roby or Horne. And Akenten is going to be just a minor contributor, imo. It's up to Glynn, Gill, Taylor and Palmer at the guard spots. Still too many bodies at the 4. I'm very optimistic about next season, but I just don't see us throwing all of these big guys out on the perimeter.
  5. It would be be very disappointing to not make the NCAA next year. We've been raving about the (currrent) sophomore class for two years, and I'm not willing to accept something less. If they don't make the tourney next year, then basically we'd be getting one NCAA bid out of best class in a long time. Not good enough. That being said, I'm not discouraged by the current growing pains. But it has to come together next year.
  6. Through last week's games, Ed was averaging 19.7 ppg and 8 rebs. His teammate Akinwole is going to be good for UNO. Not really impressive physically, but just constantly does things to win games. There are rumblings about Hansen's seat getting warm, but whoever is there the next four years is going to look a lot smarter with Akinwole at PG.
  7. I'm no Sally Sunshine, but there really isn't a winnable game on the schedule. Really, who scares you? Wisconsin is at home, the rest of the opponents are about as consistent as we are. We've got a young team. Maybe Ed comes back and things start to click. Enjoy the ride.
  8. Really good high school player. Good overall athleticism, but in terms of what he lacks, I'd say straightahead speed. Could be an excellent spot up shooter, though.
  9. Um, is that his mom?
  10. Basil Smotherman. Great name.
  11. Rutgers leading Wisky at half. Hey, gotta pump up one of the few times I've been right.
  12. What I'd give for this thread to go away.
  13. Barry Alvarez is the Manchurian Athletic Director. He was planted on the 1960s Husker teams as a mole to establish credibility and then destroy us in the 21st Century. Bud Wilkinson was the evil genius who devised the plot, but he wouldn't have bothered if he'd known we would go to the Big Ten. No plan is perfect.
  14. OK, let's say it's the worst half ever, but we're only down 10. Game ain't over by a long shot.
  15. Good scouting report. Should be a low-scoring game. I've watched them several time this year and can see a lot of progress over the previous teams. Their offense is basically drive at the basket, throw up a shot at the iron and crash the boards. So they look poorly coached at times, but that really might be their best game plan since they don't have shooters. Make Corey Sanders shoot a lot of 3s and pray he's not on today.
  16. http://www.dratings.com/predictor/bracketology/ 5 seed in the NIT before the OSU game. If we go .500 in BIG, should get in.
  17. I had heard a while back we weren't real high on Heiman, so this news is really good to hear. He still needs to bulk up some, and he's hard to judge against low-level high school talent, but I'm glad we're watching him. Definitely a guy who could develop. He's not a big, postup kid but has skills and decent athleticism. He already has offers from Drake and UNO.
  18. Yeah, that was the one for me too. That game meant something.
  19. Harder to take when you don't get a timetable. Can't count off the days to his return.
  20. The point is that it can be done without running across the court and screaming at a kid on national tv. He could have apologized to the Rutgers coach immediately and caught the kid afterward. Instead he just put on a show to make himself look good. And throwing up an alley oop at the buzzer isn't some criminal offense, it's just poor sportsmanship.
  21. Crean is such a jackass. Total overreaction to player throwing an alleyoop at the buzzer in a blowout game against Rutgers. Could have handled it afterward, instead delays the handshakes to put on a show to make sure everyone knows he's into "good sportsmanship." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2687223-indiana-coach-tom-crean-goes-nuts-after-players-try-alley-oop-at-buzzer-up-19
  22. Exactly. We shot 50% on 3s, that wasn't the issue. Strange how much we're scoring in BIG games. I would have thought we'd have continued to struggle after non-con and rely on our D, but we've had 3 games over 85 already.
