  1. We'd all love to see a faster tempo, especially if it's sparked by a defense that gets after opponents all over the court. But do they install new presses in the offseason, or do they use their practice time to work with newcomers on what they already run? And who on the staff has experience teaching full-court defense? Not Mo. Lewis wouldn't have picked it up at Butler, nor Hunter at Georgetown. Not like you can't learn, but it's a tall assignment when the staff is facing a win or else season. The bigger question is if you have just one year to prove yourself, do you change what you're doing or do you give it one more shot with what you know? If I had to guess, I'd say they stick with what they do and hope the talent upgrade makes a difference.
  2. It's not stubbornness, you have to coach what you know. TM and Molinari don't extend the defense, and they're not going to suddenly start now.
  3. I think "minimum" is key there.
  4. Pretty funny stuff about them thinking he was an Asian kid from Nebraska.
  5. Lastest ratings for 2018: http://www.omaha.com/neprepzone/recruiting/nebraska-prep-boys-basketball-recruiting-rankings/article_ef3735c4-23a5-11e7-a057-f328b5ac3751.html Griesel is 10. I wish they also listed their offers.
  6. that's the way I remember it too.
  7. High school and junior high school kids jump too. There are a lot of choices today for EVERYTHING. I can't even figure out what kind of Coke to drink. It's not some giant character flaw with kids today any more than the giant character flaws by previous generations. It's human nature to react to the conditions around them. It's also human nature to decry the decline of civilization. Now I'm going to have a Coke Zero with "Chuck" on the can. That is what I choose to do today, but I may get Diet Coke with "Charles" on it tomorrow.
  8. Didn't see it, sorry.
  9. Lewis enters speculation for Butler job: http://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/butler-coaching-candidates-with-chris-holtmann-off-to-ohio-state-who-will-replace-him/
  10. This is just repeating what I hear. Who would I offer right now? Chang (done) and Heiman.
  11. I'd put the minimum at 18 with a strong finish. SE would at least be able to say there was progress. For me, it's NCAA or bust.
  12. I don't think we've offered. We're in a tough spot with a potential lame duck coach. Miles is still recruiting, but it's hard to see where we'd have much luck unless it's a situation like Allen's where he knows guys on the team.
  13. Final ratings on class of 2017: http://www.omaha.com/neprepzone/recruiting/boys-basketball/nebraska-prep-boys-basketball-final-recruiting-rankings/article_52d589fc-239f-11e7-8c93-bb0d69eccea1.html Pretty good class, with two guys going to preseason top 10 teams. 1. Teddy Allen > W.Va 2. Aguek Arop > reclassifying 3. Isaiah Poor Bear Chandler > Wichita 4. David Wingett > reclassifying 5. Ayo Akinwole> UNO 6. Logan Strom > Cal Davis Justin Costello is 9.
  14. Hate to jump in on this one, I really do. But the issue was when we (fill in blank on how you portray it) on Arop. Chubick Sr. was mad because it was late for him in the recruiting cycle and he missed some possible opportunities because he was "committed." I think everyone thought they were doing the "right thing," but they were all coming at it from different angles.
  15. The chatter was correct. Chandler to Wichita, a popular top 10 preseason pick. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/19443560/arizona-rises-top-college-basketball-way-too-early-top-25
  16. He averaged 6 pts and 6 rebs in 24 minutes as a sophomore. For all the holes in his game, those are productive numbers. And let's be honest, he's going to a better program.
  17. Good draw. Winnable road game. Probably will play at their on-campus facility, though, instead of the Garden. Not sure where the October quote came from. Must have been something I was going to agree with. Or disagree.
  18. A morbid thought, but if Miles were to get fired after next year, we'd lose two to graduation and likely have at least a couple of transfers. Going short on scholarships this year means the new coach would inherit a really short roster.
  19. Eppley's less than 10 minutes from downtown with little traffic. Might be the best airport setup in the country for a big city, and is one of the cards they play in bidding for NCAA events. They'd have no reason to want a regional airport.
  20. Well, I'll take this one. That sounds great and it's what we all want, but then why are we 31-55 over the last three seasons? Kent, I'm not addressing you with this question. I greatly appreciate your taking time to post and don't expect you to get into a debate with message board idiots.
  21. I'm not just basing this on those photos, because I've wondered for a couple of years. Does Pitino have health problems? He just doesn't look good to me. (and not in that way, not that there's anything wrong with that.)
  22. Great names during the last year: Duby Okeke, Josh Nickleberry, Bruno Fernando, Teshaun Hightower, Jaycson Bereal, Wabissa Bede, Savion Flagg, Deyshawn Corprew. But Race Thompson might be the best. Maybe it's the Jonny Quest thing.
  23. Well, I seem to sense some doubts about Jacob Padilla's insights so I thought it was interesting that Eichorst said the same thing. I'm never going to post a dozen times a day and go back three years to see what somebody said, so you win the day, I guess.
