  1. I don't think we've offered. We're in a tough spot with a potential lame duck coach. Miles is still recruiting, but it's hard to see where we'd have much luck unless it's a situation like Allen's where he knows guys on the team.
  2. Final ratings on class of 2017: http://www.omaha.com/neprepzone/recruiting/boys-basketball/nebraska-prep-boys-basketball-final-recruiting-rankings/article_52d589fc-239f-11e7-8c93-bb0d69eccea1.html Pretty good class, with two guys going to preseason top 10 teams. 1. Teddy Allen > W.Va 2. Aguek Arop > reclassifying 3. Isaiah Poor Bear Chandler > Wichita 4. David Wingett > reclassifying 5. Ayo Akinwole> UNO 6. Logan Strom > Cal Davis Justin Costello is 9.
  3. Hate to jump in on this one, I really do. But the issue was when we (fill in blank on how you portray it) on Arop. Chubick Sr. was mad because it was late for him in the recruiting cycle and he missed some possible opportunities because he was "committed." I think everyone thought they were doing the "right thing," but they were all coming at it from different angles.
  4. The chatter was correct. Chandler to Wichita, a popular top 10 preseason pick. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/19443560/arizona-rises-top-college-basketball-way-too-early-top-25
  5. He averaged 6 pts and 6 rebs in 24 minutes as a sophomore. For all the holes in his game, those are productive numbers. And let's be honest, he's going to a better program.
  6. Good draw. Winnable road game. Probably will play at their on-campus facility, though, instead of the Garden. Not sure where the October quote came from. Must have been something I was going to agree with. Or disagree.
  7. A morbid thought, but if Miles were to get fired after next year, we'd lose two to graduation and likely have at least a couple of transfers. Going short on scholarships this year means the new coach would inherit a really short roster.
  8. Eppley's less than 10 minutes from downtown with little traffic. Might be the best airport setup in the country for a big city, and is one of the cards they play in bidding for NCAA events. They'd have no reason to want a regional airport.
  9. Well, I'll take this one. That sounds great and it's what we all want, but then why are we 31-55 over the last three seasons? Kent, I'm not addressing you with this question. I greatly appreciate your taking time to post and don't expect you to get into a debate with message board idiots.
  10. I'm not just basing this on those photos, because I've wondered for a couple of years. Does Pitino have health problems? He just doesn't look good to me. (and not in that way, not that there's anything wrong with that.)
  11. Great names during the last year: Duby Okeke, Josh Nickleberry, Bruno Fernando, Teshaun Hightower, Jaycson Bereal, Wabissa Bede, Savion Flagg, Deyshawn Corprew. But Race Thompson might be the best. Maybe it's the Jonny Quest thing.
  12. Well, I seem to sense some doubts about Jacob Padilla's insights so I thought it was interesting that Eichorst said the same thing. I'm never going to post a dozen times a day and go back three years to see what somebody said, so you win the day, I guess.
  13. Well, I'm willing to poke the bear here, but I find a lot more objectivity from Jacob and the World-Herald people than I find at LJS. There's a reason Sipple is know as Steve Suckup. I don't always agree with Sam, Lee and the rest, but they're experienced journalists and I respect their (sometimes negative) opinions. Pleasing HHC isn't the sign of good journalism.
  14. I hadn't seen this posted elsewhere, interesting look at the state of the program: https://hailvarsity.com/s/1387/padding-the-stats-finding-an-identity
  15. I was going to give you an up arrow on this, but the whole arrow thing is starting to feel like junior high again. Oooh, he likes me! So instead, "That makes sense to me too, huskercwg. Congratulations on your well-reason thought, because it mirrors those of mine, which are always well-reasoned."
  16. According to 247, No. 169 rated with an earlier offer from us. I'm getting old, don't remember his name at all.
  17. Man, don't rain on the parade today! Enjoy!
  18. Yeah, I think what is he's saying is that he (1) doesn't want to play center at 6-7 and (2) wants to expand his game by working on his ball handling and outside shooting. The simplified version is that he wants to be a wing, which makes it easier to ridicule. It doesn't seem like NCAA caliber teams would be looking at him if he marched into the coach's office and said "I'm going to play wing."
  19. Not sure how they're measuring crime, but Omaha isn't exactly Chicago. Lincoln gets a D for crime on that site. http://www.areavibes.com/lincoln-ne/livability/?ll=40.81047+-96.68034 Maybe they're being compared to Ceresco.
  20. Not to pile on, but his name was MacFarlane, not MacFarland. But he was 7 foot!
  21. I haven't been that impressed watching him in high school, but he's tall and can move. Everybody needs bigs who can move their feet with so much high screen and roll these days. He also can shoot. I'm not sure how he fits into what we run. We seem to play a more traditional 5 both on offense and defense. Heiman might be more effective for a team that pressures out on the floor and likes to run, which might be why MInnesota's looking at him. He's already passed the threshold for Summit teams to offer.
  22. Maybe the more relevant Kenpom numbers are the team's. These are the Miles years, are offensive rankings out of 350+ teams: 2012-13: 181 2013-14: 112 2014-15: 264 2015-16: 87 2016-17: 157 We can play the "he'll score more this year" game or look at the facts: We're losing 3 or our top 5 scorers, so it's not realistic to think this offense his going to make a jump to a quality level when it's coming off such a low base to begin with. Can it be better than 157? Sure, but it's not going to be a strength. I'm basing my hope on the defense. Maybe Copeland's length and Jordy's improvement tighten up the inside, and our youngsters figure out how to defend ball screens and close out on shooters. That is realistic.
  23. I don't disagree with that. But at some point, he needed to take a look at the big picture: A lot of guys playing the same position, with no shooters, no backup guard and one guy who wants to play center.
