If my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. If if if. We did not get screwed last year. No other team with a similar resume as ours in past years made the big dance. I don’t know how many times people need to say it...but conference record is not a criteria. If you want to say we got screwed because our schedule sucked...I can get on board. But in typical Tim Miles fashion, we ended up with 1-8 in group 1 games. Also, this team was not making the big dance this year with Xavier/Kenya. You are making a huge assumption that Xavier would be the same offensive player under Miles(doubtful). And #2 you are going against the narrative that this year was mental and not a talent/coaching issue.

We are shooting 31%. Which is par for the course under Miles. -

Hopefully Miles can at the very least pull out a victory vs Iowa. Outside of that, I’m ready for this season and Miles tenure as Nebrasketball to end. He has lost the program/team. -
Miles is retained what does the team look like
huskerbaseball13 replied to Ron Mexico's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Still no big man. And, we will have trouble shooting the ball. No identity on offense. Likely a few transfers such as Nana and TA. Still a heavy amount of pressure on the staff and players. I don’t see us with a winning record next year with or without Miles. -
1. What in your opinion then....makes the KSU/CU/ISU jobs easier? Tradition? I don’t think kids are going to Creighton because of tradition. McDermott is getting kids because of the offense he runs. Also, KSU was really struggling before hiring Higgins. He would have won at Nebraska. 2. Collier/Doc had one hand tied behind their back because the rest of the league had better facilities and more resources. Not true under Miles.
-
Is it that much easier to win at close by schools such as Creighton, KSU, and Iowa St? Or could it be that we have been laughably bad at hiring coaches? I give Collier/Doc credit...they had to try and build a winner with one arm behind their back. Also, I’m not so sure Doc gets hired if the timing was better. So that leaves Tim Miles who had all the bright shiny new facilities, an improved recruiting budget...and he’s going to likely finish under .500 at Nebraska. As I said previously, he is a guy who is better with the mic than he is a clipboard. We could very well hire another mediocre coach. But I don’t buy that it’s harder to win at Nebraska than anywhere else around this region sans KU.

If you don’t understand you probably either don’t grasp rivalry games or do not live in Omaha/Nebraska.

As for #2....we have been a bad to mediocre offensive team under Miles every year. Are you saying he is just a jack riggings away from developing a good offense? If so, why did it take him so long to realize this? I don’t see it....he didn’t recruit recruit enough shooters and couldn’t find a big man to save his life, or job. That doesn’t even begin to mention guys like Roby and Watson who will never truly reach their true potential. Has all of Miles teams been mentally weak and fragile? If Miles/players saw the benefit then Moos should have kept him on. But it wasn’t going to change the fact that Miles is better with the mic than he is with a clipboard.

So you post on my page last night asking me to come bitch about Erstad? It would appear your panties get in a wad when people are and aren’t critical of this staff. But hey, at least you are consistent. Good win for the team. I hope they keep Gomes in the pen. Waldron is looking more like his freshman year. Now if we can solidify our 2nd and 3rd starter. Get one more win and this weekend will make up for last weekends sweep. -
I guess we will have to agree to disagree. The narrative would not shift with the administration considering the talk was all about consistency. Going 8-12 and having another dismal record against quality opponents does not scream consistent. Had he finished 11-9...then it’s probbaly a much different story and this article never gets printed. I just have a hard time believing a senior laden team is so fragile. I think they have crumbled but I think our main issues belong with Miles and the Big Ten figuring guys like Palmer out
-
Two games doesn’t change the narrative. In your what if scenario you also have us beating Iowa. Lose that game and we finish 11th in the Big Ten with a 7-13 record. Even with a win we finish 8-12 and people would still be disappointed. 8-12 on the wrong side of the bubble and people would still be talking about firing Miles heading into chicago.

Perhaps, but is this Navy Seal's work enough to turn Miles into a good coach? Probably not. History under Miles suggest it certainly wasn't just THIS team that has trouble shooting the ball. Nor do I think our terrible spacing, and lack of fundamentals is all mental. I didn't read the article, so I shouldn't say this guy wouldn't have helped. If he was any help at all then Moos should have kept him on. But, I'm very certain he wasn't the difference between Miles being the guy and not being the guy. At the end of the day, we will have our answer fairly soon as to if the athletic department cares about having a winning program. Keeping Miles or low balling a coach will speak volumes on if we are just okay with continuing to tread water.

Nebraska (15-13) vs. Michigan (24-4) Game Thread

In my opinion I don’t think it would have mattered if Miles had 5 years or 1 year on his contract. Regardless, just about everyone from the fanbase to the media would be calling this a make or break year. I don’t think the players are dumb enough to believe that with a multi year contract he is somehow safe. Miles has a multi year contract in 2015 with a team that was expected to make the big dance. How did that work out? I’m sure there are many things that have gone into this disappointing year. But, I think Miles is the same mediocre coach regardless of what his contract states. The athletic department did not take a game on him and it appears for good reason. -

Do some people still really think that if we keep Miles that next years team will be a 20 win team? The only good thing about this is Miles has made it extremely easy and there should be absolute zero pushback when he gets his walking papers. -

Holy shit. 1-3-1. Thought Tim forgot about the zone like he forgets players on the bench. -

Considering he would have had the luxury of being coached/developed by Belein and not Miles i would say he would look like a much different player. Especially on offense.
