If we are going to hire a coach that may be able to keep some recruits in the fold it will be hard to turn down Hoiberg. Other coaches will have the relationship but from being able to talk to his offenses at Iowa St and him coaching in the NBA. That’s a pretty hell of a sell. I hope like hell this happens. It needs to happen ASAP before someone like Arizona sweeps in if Miller is gone.
-
Moos is a pawn. It’s unfortunate that we essentially have an AD who is just a figurehead but it is what it is. Bounds/Green will be the ones controlling this coaching search.
-
Im guessing Miles is still on the list of possibilities. As in, if we strike out on our A/B list, Miles still may be retained.
-
You aren’t wrong. Nevada has played two quad 1 gamed. Speaking of that....Zags have no business getting a #1 seed.
-
Tubby Smith made the big dance 3 out of 6 years at Minnesota and won a game in the big dance. That sounds a hell of a lot better to me than rolling with a guy who hasn’t won one postseason game(Ncaa/nit/cbi/cit) as a D-1 coach. Maybe this will be the year Tim Miles gets on the board.
-
Everyone that posts on this board is a fanatic. We are going to games regardless as to where they are played. I liked the Bob as well. With that said...the bar scene around Haymarket and the overall environment is going to draw a large crowd at the PBA. Regardless I don’t see the attendance being a final factor on Miles so it’s probably a moot point.
-
Im only given you what Moos said. I don’t think NIT was the goal this year. But, maybe the administration will factor in Copeland’s injury.
-
I don’t think he meant consistently mediocre. He said he wanted to see us win 22 games this year and see how the team/staff handled high expectations. I don’t think finishing 13th in the Big Ten is what the administration had in mind. I really don’t give a rats ass about Moos. I don’t even think he will be apart of the potential coaching search. He should have been in Chicago yesterday to give Miles his walking papers or his extension. Whatever it is. There is no sense in dragging this thing out one way or the other.
-
You really believe the attendance boost has zero to do with building PBA? You think the Devaney would be filled to the rafters right now? Wow, okay...i disagree. If we are to assume this great talent is the truth...why has the product on the court been mediocre at best?
-
Miles is not fireable because we had 12K fans show up down the stretch? Do people really believe that fans show up to watch Nebrasketball because of Tim Miles and not because we still have a hell of an arena to watch a game?

We were 1-3 against the Big Ten teams that made the Big Dance. Again, we definitely got screwed in regards to our big ten schedule. But our overall body of work? 1-9 on the nitty gritty sheet is just not going to get it done. Neither is 3-13 like we finished this year. You have to be able to beat good teams regardless as to where the games are played. I have no idea who is a realistic candidate. If Hoiberg is an actual possibility(I don’t think he is)...he would be a slam dunk. If we strike out on our A/B list then bring back Miles. I am just not in the opinion that he’s the right coach to move the program forward. I don’t buy into some thinking we are a 20 win team next year if Miles is retained.
-
We were what...1-9 in quad 1 games last year? Definitely not screwed..unless you are talking about our Big 10 schedule. It’s not rocket science. The committee values quality wins. We lacked that last year. Keep Miles and we are likely in the same position now, next year. Talking about his job status after he finished 11th in the Big Ten.

Each one of those guys you are not taking over Miles have better resumes than him. Miles is in his 15th season as a D-1 coach and has never won a postseason game. His(Nebraska’s) struggles on the offensive end have been talked about plenty on here. I think that’s where he especially falls short as a high major coach. I dont think Hoibergs coming. I’d love to be wrong.

Unbelievable comeback. Have to give the guys and staff credit. Down 16, they could have packed it in. Hopefully this gives Palmer, Watson some good feelings on their way out the door. -

Miles getting punked by a Rival. Unfortunatly, a very fitting way to end his tenure at PBA. -

Just bad bad basketball. PBA has seen a lot of that the last 6 years. -

I don't have any proof. It was more so just watching him interact with the guys on the bench and stemming from how Tim Miles like this year, lost the team in 2015.
-
If we are going to keep Miles then yes to the NIT. If we are not...then get the show on the road.

I always felt Smith was more of the glue guy and the guy who was able to get thru to the players. Our navy seal if you will. Our offense that year was pretty standard for a Tim Miles team. Adj eff ranked #112 and our efg% ranked 224. The following year after Smith left our numbers went to #247 and #288.
