  1. Let me put this another (better) way. If we get kicked out of the AAU a year earlier, we probably don't join the Big 10. If we don't join the Big 10, we probably don't get Tim Miles (who always wanted to coach in the Big 10). If Doc gets fired a year earlier or a year later, we don't get Tim Miles. If we don't get Tim Miles, we don't get Terran Petteway. If we don't get Terran Petteway, Bon Jovi would still suck but Mike Peltz would get more minutes this last year. If we don't get Terran Petteway, we don't do nearly as well this last year. And if we don't do nearly as well this last year, we don't land White, Watson and Morrow. Just to add a little to this, Norm: If T.O. doesn't lose the governor's race, he isn't available to take over on extremely short notice when Harvey finally figures out SP must go. If T.O. isn't available, the attention to basketball in the form of the Hendricks Center may not have happened. The Arena may not have happened without the Icon's support. The timing of Doc's termination may not have happened as it did. The decision to hire Miles may not have happened, and the ability of NU to hire Miles may not have happened without having a reputable AD. The decisions of the last 5 years with regard to basketball in our athletic department are looking pretty good. While we have had plenty of T.O. doubters on this board, I personally don't think the unfolding events have been luck or a coincidence. The circumstances and timing of T.O. taking over the athletic department after the dark times of the Pedey regime factor heavily into the current positives for our beloved program.
  2. Saw the Morrow entourage at the volleyball game also. He looked fairly stoic there as well; probably just his personality. It was an impressive sight and sound if one is into fan support.
  3. Normie, I had to cast my vote to get rid of it. This may just be an indication that I have entered the Low T era.
  4. Better? I knew you'd like it. Yeah, that's a nice dog.
  5. The clutter and joking around is fine, but damn, Norm, I have to agree with Swan--your Toy Story pic has to go; that thing is annoying as hell
  6. That is just flippin' awesome, Dimes! I'm going to blare that from the speakers pregame, and then run through a flippin' wall!
  7. Amen. Let's not ever be Iowa. In anything. In any year.
  8. ACL tears are prevalent in women's athletics. Lots of them in basketball. Not sure if there are any studies comparing volleyball and basketball. Just guessing but I would think there are more in basketball. In any event, I like the idea of being a high school kid for a while longer. Enjoy it while you can. Injury could happen just as easily playing pickup hoops during the fall. Jess got plenty of hoops experience this summer playing on the junior national team; a little break won't hurt her.
  9. LOVE that photo....
  10. Just find a way to get an NCAA tournament win. It would be great to move on from there, but we need to get that gazillion pound monkey off our back, and soon.
  11. Coach Turgeon's dad lives in Lincoln; I might be able to help you make contact there. Feel free to PM me. HB
  12. I never tire of Sheldon Jeter updates.
  13. Pics or it didn't happen. Trust me...it happened https://twitter.com/michaelbruntz/status/505824996552228864 Dimes you missed the joke. Internet rules state that if you mention a hot girl on said internet pics must be provided, otherwise lies. I'll be working on that pic. But I might not be able to get the "lean over the bar" shot.....
  14. Plus you'll get to watch Matt Davison chug his pregame beers. I have indeed done that....although I still prefer watching a certain bartender serve drinks....I know for a fact that she would meet the Norm Peterson seal of approval. Did she play volleyball? Well, Norm, if you're asking if she is the mom of any certain young poster on here, the answer is "no". And I am not referring a former volleyball player who also played some basketball.

  16. Pre-game at Gate 25 is pretty good, especially that one bartender
  17. I've heard you can save 15% on your car insurance by switching to GEICO. Dammit, Norm, quit pimping Geico! You know what an evil empire it is....
  18. I've heard nothing. Damn, what's up with my sources?
  19. Close call between Walt, Tai, and Terran. Went with Tai because he has the most distance to go based on last year, but he still has to go out and do it. Good poll; will be interesting to see what happens.
  20. Could really use Lewis and Cotton to stay healthy on the left side of the Oline also. Pretty big dropoff after them. Go skers.
  21. Sounds like CSU Fullerton asst Mike Kirby is taking the job. I worked a camp for him in 2011. Great guy and a very good get for NU. Thanks for the report, Kamdy, and for the Kamdy seal of approval!
  22. Interesting thread, in that it seems to parrot what fans talk about the most: Offense. Virtually every post mentions offense. When we improved last year, it was about defense. Turned the season around, Perhaps because the D was so much better late in the year posters aren't mentioning defense from an improvement standpoint, but I suspect it is just because the natural tendency of fans is to focus on offense. There are some posts about Ray's shooting, but I am wondering whether we have a 2 guard who will defend as well as Ray. Our interior defense may also be a spot where we improve, with Abraham's physicality, and some buy in by Walt.
  23. I disagree. I've heard that TP's official draft analysis last year was not very positive at all (like end if second round, if drafted). I believe he keeps it posted in his locker for motivation. Needs much improvement on defense and jump shot. Right now, he'd be back. I can only tell you that Miles told fans who attended the Husker Hoops golf outing Wednesday that he felt there was no way Terran would return for his senior season. The rationale given was that he had improved his game dramatically during the off-season and had really enhanced his standing among NBA scouts. I'm just passing along what Miles said to people who were there. Obviously, it's a dynamic situation, but people need to understand that the staff themselves feel that TP is almost certainly gone after this year. Good insight - thank you. He certainly knows what he needs to improve and obviously puts the time in. If that's the case, we should reap the benefits on the court and in the recruiting game. What a pitch that would make! I would be surprised if he makes the necessary improvements on defense to be a top 16 pick. So I will predict that he either comes back, or ends up at the end of the first round/beginning of second round He's gone after this year. It will be interesting to come back here in June and see how people's predictions hold up.
  24. Unrealistic.
  25. If he's projected as a first rounder, he goes. And this will happen.
