  1. I was talking about a song from the 1990s. What decade/century were you thinking? I was a curmudgeon at a young age. Popular culture had already passed me by the 90s. Jimmy, did you know any of those groups/songs?
  2. I know I was certainly HOPING we would hire a 61 year old guy with a bad record, no recruiting ties to the Midwest, and who runs a system where there will be another "adjustment" period. But, at least it wasn't Tressel. That's me. Glass half full.
  3. Never heard any word on Kalenta. Is this a stress reaction situation also? If so 3 in one year seems ridiculous.
  4. All right, guys, quit picking on the old, popular culture has passed me by guy. I have never heard of these things of which you speak (Timber, Sandstorm, Slam, Onyx)
  5. The things I think are problems are indeed not. #perspective.
  6. Would have been a great game to have recruits at. Hard not to be impressed with that atmosphere. And our girls have fun playing hoops; you can just see it, coaches on down.
  7. Weak. The book on her is to attack the ball at the catch or rebound. Would have been nice to redshirt her last year. She has made strides but has a ways to go. She's a little streaky. We will ride one of her hot streaks this year to a W. If she can have another good offseason, I think she'll really help us in the future.
  8. Wow, how tough must Notre Dame be again?
  9. Just got back from the game. What a great atmosphere. Crowd was big, and into it. Kalenta in a boot also. That's 3 so far this year. We need to get healthy; can't keep playing the starters 36-40 all year. Nice job in the first half by Cincore in her first meaningful minutes. Big stage to debut on. Good defense. To get a W shooting 6-29 from 3 and getting outrebounded was an accomplishment. Great defensive game plan. Everyone pitched in, but Hailie and Emily had very nice efforts.
  10. Congrats on your retirement. No doubt; I am way jealous
  11. Pretty sure the play you are referring to was in the first half. But I did like the play. I remember thinking "wow, that guy plays long" on that near block. Encouraging.
  12. Of course, Tai's not starting over Tarin, but forget it, Bardo on a roll.....
  13. Agreed on Smith. That was awfully clutch. He seems to have a nice feel for the game. He passes the eyeball test, and I can't say Webster ever has for me. I'm not going to write Webster's story yet (I learned my lesson on Benny Parker), but I see so much more potential and skill in Smith. I think what we see is the difference in good High School basketball in the States. Tarin has he some very good coaching, while Tai has learned the International game where he seems to do much better than in our style. He will get better, I think he just has too. Gotta be able to shoot the rock, wherever you play.
  14. One rebound, Walt. Are you kidding me?? Thought the same thing as Swan--who would have called Benny getting a team leading 35 minutes 2 years ago--or even 1 year ago. Love the Benny.
  15. Good to get the ugly win, but I'm pretty negative tonight. --The other refs were as pitiful as Hess; --Kudos to Benny, Tarin, Shavon --Some great plays as always by Terran, but some boneheaded plays that could cost us a game. And selfish play not dishing to Shavon on the break and then getting the charge; that was a big missed opportunity. And absolutely brutal turnover on a 3rd grade pass that gets taken in for a dunk or layup; could have been the game --Walt is a total mess right now. Physically and mentally AWOL. Getting concerned he may not come out of it. --Agree with uneblinstu on Hammond's minutes. Liked what I saw. --Tai can't shoot. Hey Tai, there's a reason you're open. And still struggling with passing decisions. It's getting late. Reason for concern here. --We need more than 2 scoring options. Rivers was hesitant to shoot the mid range jumper tonight; he may have to do that. And hopefully Benny can keep up the better shooting. And of course, Walt could help here but what a struggle right now. --We play like this bad things will happen Sunday. Glad we have a week to figure some things out
  16. Wisconsin scenario coming on for atmosphere. Including boozing on Sunday in the Railyard. I will be ready.
  17. Well that was written in 2011 and have you ever heard Tom say anything bad about anybody? I just think he isn't what we need right now. Has he changed? Maybe, I don't know, just why bring all the eyes on us like that? Just me, but then it really doesn't matter who is here because I have no say in who we hire, but can choice to like it after ward. Well everyone wants Nebraska to be of National relevance. This hire would get them there as far as the media is concerned. Wouldn't want to make a hire just to achieve national relevance, and just become a mercenary department. Just like I wouldn't want to win more games at any cost. It's about More Than Winning. And hiring HT would be so contrary to the department's mission statement and the only criteria for the new coach set out by SE in his press conference that there is no way he could do it. After his comments yesterday, it would break new ground in hypocrisy.
  18. Agree with that. They were inconsistent, and horrible both ways.
  19. My friends associated with the NC program said that they indeed had worked on Nebraska prep for awhile, so yes, your supposition is a good one. It had to hurt them to come out nervous and get down 26-5. Plus of the first 12 fouls, 10 were called on them. However, as Connie said, the game ended up being about matchups, and we didn't come out well in those. In her own words, she lost the chess match. Other teams will use this film. However, we have good coaches, and will adjust.
  20. But Northern Colorado played UNO Friday night, so they didn't have much time to prepare either
  21. While Cady and Theriot consistently put up big numbers, Sample has so much to do with us being a good team. As she goes, so go we. And today she didn't have it. But she'll be back.
  22. Connie says it like it is, which I respect. She said she got out-coached today, and she was right. I don't like the former K-State group, but they were outstanding today. Really took us out of what we wanted to do offensively. We got nothing coming out of timeouts. They took advantage of match up problems. We had to go big in the first 10 minutes of the second half after the postups; they then adjusted to that by taking us off the dribble.
  23. Could have done without that
  24. I would think Bo goes to the NFL; just an opinion without much basis.
