  1. Odd that people rooting for a Catholic school don't have a better understanding of the word "miracle" than that! I mean Nebraska beating Baylor and parting the Red Sea. Yeah, those are in the same category. (Where is that sarcasm emoticon?)
  2. Did OSU or the Craft family donate a pile of money to CBS that makes them continue to laud him instead of crediting Dayton? Just awful!
  3. Hate to have my bracket busted already but couldn't happen to a "nicer" player than Craft. Do you suppose they will find a way for him to play yet another year?
  4. And I had already started spending my billion!
  5. It is amazing how few plays one way or the other impact an entire season. Hawkins' shot goes in. The tip against Michigan doesn't. And the history of a season is written.
  6. Nice story about Doc. A really class act as a person and I always wish him the best.
  7. And we would say the same things about our President no matter who it was.
  8. Curious: How many other B1G teams have an historic catch phrase like "Go Big Read" that they use? Can't say I've paid attention. Maybe Northwestern? I hear they like to read Ouch! You got me. My 3rd grade teacher would be all over me, too! Note: I fixed it.
  9. Trick question? The answer is: Walt Pitchford 3 pt make. How many games is it that he has taken that first shot? Hits it fairly regular, too.
  10. Curious: How many other B1G teams have an historic catch phrase like "Go Big Red" that they use? Can't say I've paid attention.
  11. I wish they would wear a road version of the cream colored throwback jerseys. That was my favorite in a long time.
  12. That is such good news because he's wrong about almost everything!
  13. One cool thing about this is we are no longer beggars when it comes to recruiting. Now, we are getting the mindset that quality players will WANT to come to us. Not saying we are on par with the other historically dominant programs but aren't a doormat in this conference, either. I agree with whoever suggested that we should somehow put a recruiting video together of the Wisconsin game (especially the "NO SIT" crowd!) and start showing how the fans here will embrace recruits as players. And then, of course, send one to a Wisconsin recruit that we might want to poach just for the fun of it!
  14. I seem to recall Miles commenting that in the Big 12 you can always find a shot. Baylor may not be used to being defended well and could get thrown off their groove. One of the main reasons were are in this tournament is because we learned to defend well. If they, in turn, defend with a 1-3-1 zone as they seem prone to do, that opens they way for driving to the hoop which we are good at PROVIDED we at least make them respect us from the 3 pt line. Pitchford and Ray will be huge in this game if we are going to win it.
  15. It's true. He does. I've seen the pictures. You're killing me, Norm! I was eating a Twinkie (breakfast is the most important meal, you know) and I almost needed someone to do the Heimlich on me. Be more careful with what you post!
  16. Does that mean other schools were telling him he wouldn't have a chance to compete for playing time?
  17. Have to give Doc credit for bringing in an important part of the current team; esp. Shields, Gallegos and Parker. Obviously, getting Petteway and Pitchford here were huge accomplishments for TM but both had track records that were easier to assess. I, for one, did not have a clue that Petteway would be as good as he is. (Good thing I'M not recruiting!) In many ways, this year's phenomenal run puts Miles at some risk. Achieving as much as we did this year has raised the bar of what we expect. If they had ONLY made the NIT, no one would be crying. Now that we've reached the Dance, reaching it again will be the standard. Miles' ability will now be judged more quickly and stringently by how his first and second classes develop. The good news is 1) the team that accomplished this will mostly return next year so those classes have a chance to develop and 2) TM's track record is really good.
  18. Was it NeeBRasketball or NeeBasketball ? Neebraska led to Neebrasketball in the early 90's... Could be right about that but I don't ever remember NEEbraska. Was that an actual promo effort or just informal chatter that grew into NEEbrasketball? It would be nice to fill in that bit of history.
  19. Proud to have you with us, Tarin!
  20. And how sweet it is! I mean is there another school that can make this work?
  21. This +1000 -- I really think it is just a few recurring bad apples that rightly get tomahawked around. In my experience nobody around minds a good, robust or even contrary debate. But some folks come in and try to hurt people with the words. Due to my profession I am VERY intolerant of this kind of behavior. It is one thing to engage in a vigorous debate. It is another thing altogether to be a(n) _____________ (fill in the blank with your own creative expression).
  22. I don't recollect (that's a word some of us old guys use a lot) Nebrasketball ever being used before NeeBrasketball. I think it was created while Danny was here and then altered when he departed. But sliding into senility cannot make a person .... what were we talking about?
  23. Surprised it is not more. I figured they would get a lot of benefit from it being in Texas and what would seem to be a more prolific offense than ours. It will be interesting to see how this game is called by the officials. If it is allowed to become fairly physical, that should favor us. It will be interesting to see how this line develops in the next few days.
  24. Don't know why an 11 seed has to play in. IMO that should be just for 16 seeds.
