Have to give Doc credit for bringing in an important part of the current team; esp. Shields, Gallegos and Parker. Obviously, getting Petteway and Pitchford here were huge accomplishments for TM but both had track records that were easier to assess. I, for one, did not have a clue that Petteway would be as good as he is. (Good thing I'M not recruiting!)
In many ways, this year's phenomenal run puts Miles at some risk. Achieving as much as we did this year has raised the bar of what we expect. If they had ONLY made the NIT, no one would be crying. Now that we've reached the Dance, reaching it again will be the standard. Miles' ability will now be judged more quickly and stringently by how his first and second classes develop. The good news is 1) the team that accomplished this will mostly return next year so those classes have a chance to develop and 2) TM's track record is really good.
