  1. Hey, mods, can we pin a tournament projector link to the board so it is easy to find? Thanks for considering it!
  2. Didn't really think they could MSU there, either, so I believe we CAN beat Wisc. Home cookin' has been awful good this year!
  3. Are they also going to wear the striped socks?
  4. Then I am scratching my head about why you would start a new thread to express that. Go to one of the several other game discussion threads and say so. Starting a new thread about it struck me more as a way to draw attention to your disappointment with the TEAM not the GAME. Hence, my reply.
  5. I'm sure we both wish the Huskers would have won and taken advantage of the opportunity that was there. That said, this team CAN'T disappoint me. They have already achieved so much more than anyone thought they would at the start of the year that anything more they accomplish will be an added pleasure. I WANT them to win out the rest of the year and make it to the Dance but I am so proud of this team this year already that I could never say they are a disappointment.
  6. Even earlier. Maybe someone discovered a stash of jerseys in Dr Naismith's attic!
  7. Two things could have made a difference tonight. 1) Remember when Coach Miles said we were a big man away. Tonight we could have use him. 2) Our point guard play good but nothing special. Tonight it needed to be better.
  8. I am proud to have him on our team every day. Players have off days. This was one for him but I am confident he'll be back stronger than ever.
  9. - Turnovers - Let them get too many offensive rebounds - Just a step slow let Illinois get to some balls we have been getting to. It was atypical of this team, though, so I'm feeling good about the next games.
  10. I think the idea we are looking for is GATA!
  11. Love it!! Thanks to everyone who helped make it possible!
  12. We never traded Ruth away! How can we be the Red Sox? Of course, we never denied access to an old man's goat, either!
  13. We WANT more NU fans and at some point they have to jump on. I say welcome aboard! What will be frustrating are the bandwagon fans who leap off at the first sign of inevitable struggle.
  14. If this game is as close as Vegas is saying, then I like our chances. We have been tested in some tough games and won. They haven't. Losing becomes a habit and teams with a losing attitude lose close games while teams that believe they CAN win DO win. They have nothing to play for but to be a spoiler. That only takes you so far in a tough game. I do believe it will be a close, hard fought game but I also think we will come out on top because we will be playing FOR something and they will be playing AGAINST something.
  15. If standings remain the same -- with the Huskers ahead of MN in the B1G standings -- and similar degree of success in B1G tournament, would the selection committee take MN without taking Huskers?
  16. He is indeed a dangerous player but we have developed into an even better defensive team (Parker and Rivers have been money) since the last time we played them. Rice got 23 against us last time but Nunn only scored 9. I can live with those numbers again.
  17. When you think about it, how impressive has it been for Tai Webster to play as much as he has this year? Agreed. I still have very high hopes for Tai. He shows flashes that are very exciting. Just not as many of them as I'd like. Also, I don't think he is by nature a point guard either and that is what he's being asked to be.
  18. I'm sure the drills will be useful to him but how much of it just comes from confidence that you know what you are doing? I would expect as a true freshman coming off the bench he is overthinking what he is doing a lot of the time. Especially if he is a more natural offensive talent than defensive it would make sense that his speed would be less on defense. As he gets increasingly comfortable playing at this level, his decisions will become more instinctive and his feet will follow.
  19. Three things strike me: 1) Gotta play good D. We have been really good of late and I see no reason for this to change. Never know when the offense just isn't there but D is about effort. All are playing well but a nod to Parker, Rivers and Ray. 2) Get to the line. Illinois will bruise Petteway and Shields for driving in so they could live at the charity stripe. Keep attacking the rim and earn points shooting free throws. It will also make some of their players sit down. 3) IMO, Rivers is a wildcard in this game. He has always played well without the ball but he is starting to show up a bit more on the offensive end of things. He gets to the line and he wins those inevitable possessions that end up in a tussle for the ball. Illinois seems to me to like to play a street ball kind of game and Rivers is well suited for it. Not saying he's going to go for 20 pts but if he is in the neighborhood of 10 points, we win.
  20. A lot of teams have tried to keep those two from getting to the rim. They have still been able to do it. That said, it will be important for either/both Pitchford and Gallegos to shoot well from outside. Pitchford has shown a consistent ability. Ray's shooting absence lately is a mystery.
  21. I remember when I had to wait until the next morning to read the newspaper and find out the scores from the game that were on CBS, NBC, ABC, et al. Those times were rough You must have had a great paper! Our hometown paper only published weekly and usually only covered social visits and the menu at the nursing home. We got in both, kind of, by visiting Grandma every Sunday at the home. Just publicity hounds
  22. Shields was indeed a worthy candidate but I would humbly submit that Benny was the player of the game. I know other guys scored more but we expect them to. Parker came in under duress because of Webster's fouls and lit a fuse. He ran point effectively -- not brilliantly -- and kept sticking his nose in on D and totally disrupted any offense Purdue might have started. What a game the young man had!
