b1g had 9 teams. in 2 rounds, they're down to 1. there isn't a gentle way to spin that performance. higher seeds lost. lower seeds lost. everyone lost. and Michigan isn't playing at their peak either, right now, and I don't like them to get past the 16 unless hey pick up their game. it's as if they were content to have the conference tourney and call it a season.
-
yikes. guess that scotches this trade. oh.....wait.....waste of a terrific coach, too.
-
so far the consensus adjective for the B1Gs tourney is "disastrous", followed in second place by, "catastrophic".
-
ouch. damn, this is posting assault and battery. heh

A clear case of HBFS: Husker Basketball Fan Syndrome. A close relation of Stockholm Syndrome. It's almost as if our record will decide how good the conference is or isn't on any given season. "Well, Nebraska finished in the top half, so how good can they really be this year?" Oh, man, we've chosen a hard path of fandom.

I hope she does what's best for her. I don't see her hanging in the WNBA since it's a really athletic league now, and I don't think anyone of our best players over the last few years have stuck very long in the league. On the other hand, not much point in returning if you're already done with your education. Tough call for Ms. Cain. Wish her the best however she goes!

I'll be cheering for Francon 1 for the entertainment value alone. We really don't want a conference that we finished last in to completely flop in the tourney. I can't handle that reality check. So for my mental health, let's hope for a 3-0 today. "Like a Turgeon, dunked for the very first time..."
-
at this point, it's understandable to think we've all been suckered by a phantom conference and now conclude all our teams really suck (although if that's true, lord help NU). So far, the "day 2 lineup"'s been good. It's the day ones that stunk up the joint. I'm hoping that holds and we go 3-0 tomorrow, but it would take a good upset from the Terps to do that. Rutgers almost pulled off a biggie today themselves, and that's the same task Maryland has tomorrow.
-
phew, looking more like we'll be lucky to get two teams into the sweet 16! going to need some serious upset action by rutgers and or maryland at this point. one of the larger eggs to be laid recently.

You got me. Part of me thinks this is the increasing culmination of a long trend of talent-balancing as a result of attendance "localism" for a lot of athletes. I think Nebraska athletics have suffered because of this trend, especially football. But I'm assuming someone's done the hard work of seeing if there's been a longer term trend towards massive seeding upsets, i.e.; scores getting increasingly close to the point where the smaller schools are being able to come out on top more frequently.
-
i'm almost at the point where it's safer to pick the ridiculously lower seeds right now. this tournament is bonkers. and thanks, Illini, for forcing us to endure more sister Jean antics for another week.
-
wow, B1G had a terrible start, but no one's licking wound quite like the ACC in this tourney. they are getting smoked.
-
decent comeback to get to 500. let's go B1G. Can't let our old conference have all the glory.
-
B1G better pick it up. OSUs loss is appalling. But Husker fans can relate.
-
good luck to Lutz. may his next page be a jackpot. :) welcome to coach number next!
-
super news. Kobe's a cool guy and a solid player. this can only help this team next year.
-
so far still no surprises, so there's that. wishing all these guys success wherever and whatever they do.

archie miller's a good coach. he'll land somewhere and make it work. pitino? hmmm....if UNM cares about recruiting out of a population downer like Albq., MIles may be the better choice. I think coaches need a transfer portal.

just like the one-armed jam......

And now because of this trauma, I'm starting to sing a familiar tune: "It was thirty years ago today Sgt Pepper knocked out the Huskers in the first round..." And now I hate everything sentient and am hoping a meteor takes everything out.
-
oh, thanks. can I send you the therapy bill? j/k. mostly.
-
yikes, did I get disappeared down the memory hole. Ouch. Oh well, me and Winston will go do drinks with Goldstein. :)

I absolutely love that the Lincoln origin story somehow made it onto the McDermott thread. That should maximize exposure!

Next year's going to be a difficult nut to crack with the possibility of a bunch of seniors returning for one reason or another especially some of the league's fringe-y draft pick talents who might think one more year might squeak them into the margins of the NBA. Depending on how that dynamic shakes out in the rest of the league, we may be looking at a cold replay of this season with a bunch of historically good teams stacked with talent pounding on us. I figure we'll lose maybe 4-5 players tops, and if Hoiberg's right that the core is returning, all we need is a little normal attrition from the league's upperclassmen to maybe sneak into 5-7 win range next season with a good offseason for our guys and the newbies contributing. As weird as the season was, the offseason isn't going to be all that normal, either.

Nebraska (7-19)(3-16) vs. Penn St. (10-13)(7-12) Game Thread
tcp replied to Bugeaters1's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
at least this season's out of everyone's misery now. these last two games have just been obnoxious. program has lots to work on in the offseason, provided players return.
