you kinda can't let teams shoot 60 % from the field and live to talk about it. still not able to get a picture for this game yet, so I'm wondering if it's a case of not good defense or just a super lucky hot NW team? -

do that winning thing, please. sincerely, the peasants. -
that rematch would invent the term, "dribble-by shooting"

one point of parliamentary order, Greg. Um, or whomever? In the olden days, grad students aren't generally on scholarship. If they get financial support, it's usually in the form of a TA- or RA-ship, correct? Does the NCAA count those as "scholarships", even though they aren't? (they're generally better). Further, couldn't a grad transfer be given the usual "here's 2 sections, your tuition waiver, and have at it" package the rest of us got? For some reason, I've never bothered to check. I always assumed grad students *never* counted against scholarship because of the unique nature of graduate school, *unless* they were attending as students only. But that would be one workaround for the schollie issue, wouldn't it?

If there was a game to roll in with a couple of flat tires, this was the one. Unlikely we beat Iowa even with a good effort. I'd rather save our better punches (if I were forced to choose) for the beatable teams we have left. And getting embarrassed like this will help in that effort. -
that was the preview of things to come, though, and most of us knew what kind of a year we were in for after that. still, I'm loving this finish. it's what this program desperately needed (and us fans, too). That sliver of light just keeps getting just a bit bigger with each week. And if we can see it, so can the players. It probably will come down to roster turnover at seasons end as to whether or not we're actually at a program corner right now or just humping more pyrite.

that SOS list is crazytown.

No one's saying he should say it. He already knows he shouldn't have. And there was to me an intention beyond racializing the comparison that would've "worked" had he said "I need everyone to stay on the reservation". Same point, different outgroup. As for what a professor could or couldn't say, I've been out of university teaching for nearly 20 years now, so I can only imagine how trigger happy crap is now. But I'm certainly not expecting a basketball coach to be as linguistically savvy as, say, a sociologist when addressing students. Although I've heard more than a few of them say stupid crap, too. Anyway, I'm ust hoping this doesn't turn into a "Fire Greg McDermott" because we think it's a funny thing to do to a rival. But I understand your position here, I do. I'm just not willing to scorch this dude's life over this incident unless he had a history of it. That's all.

It was stupid and insensitive, obviously, but a smack on the wrist is more than enough. hopefully the speech cops will write him his ticket, let him pay the fine, and move on to the next moron.

Unless we somehow get Fernando Rodney pitching for the Huskers, then it's all good. -
I went with yes, in part because I'm feeling unusually optimistic today. On the other hand, it's kind of a loaded question given how low the starting bar was, isn't it? It would've been hard *not* to improve at least somewhere. And we've done that.

the Mites were special. to this day, my favorite NU team ever and the one I had the most fun going to games with. I think no one above 6-4. A clinic on fundamental skill.coaching synergy that just came together and came within a last second 3 of going to the tourney.

well, if they do, I hope we refuse to play on the grounds of player safety, by golly. (badabing) -
I knew there was a plan flaw somewhere in all this.

A. Primary answer's been given. There are an extraordinary number of dicks on the Internet. B. Teddy got labelled early, and I think that label stuck when he got benched as "another me-baller". So of course when some see a hot hand, others are going to see a ball-hogging show-boater. The irony of all this is that both can be true at the same time. You can be a ball hog and have a great game. You can also be a team player and have a great game. We've given Teddy plenty of grief for his on court attitude this season at quite a few points. But most of us notice a clear effort at improving, so I'm willing to let it go. But a lot of people will never let it go. All they know is hate. And I guarantee you they do this crap on every subject, every post, everywhere. They're just bad people.

we shoot poorly enough to always avoid the real bottom on a stat like this. Teams that get a lot of these by definition miss a lot of shots. I'm kind of a "get it right the first time" guy myself. -
