  1. Arop with 29 pts and 19 reb in an upset win at #2 Omaha Central. The kid was doing everything from bringing the ball up the floor, rebounding any missed shot in the gymnasium, tipping passes and hitting jump shots. He's playing with a chip on his shoulder for sure.
  2. Unfortunately for Horne, defensive shortcomings isn't usually a flaw that Miles will live with.
  3. -If we can develop some type of bench going in to Big Ten play I still think we will be alright. But that's a big IF right now. -I have no don't Jack can play and is fit for this level of competition but man he picked a rough stretch to completely disappear offensively. -Morrow and Jacobson rebound hard. And Jordy looks like he's getting better and more comfortable each game. Like I've said before I really like our front court. -Morrow gets an additional mention bc that boy is a GROWN MAN -I dislike AW3 even more now bc if we had his 3pt shorting we'd be in really good shape. -Watson once again proves he can put up big numbers in the scoring column. And how about that clutch 3 to tie the game. He's gonna be a hell of a player come is senior year. -Tai was solid again. I know Tai is the senior leader but I would have rather had Glynn take the last shot however. Kid has ice in his veins. I'm hoping USD turns into a game where we can play our bench players another 20+ minutes each bc boy do they need it. Also it would be nice to get the starters a rest with busy week they just had. With how poorly the bench has been playing we are going to need the starting 5 rested and ready to play alot of minutes against Creighton. GBR.
  4. 3pt defense is definitely a concern. If I remember correctly weren't all of VTs first 18 points from three?
  5. Marcus Foster is a baller tho, no doubt about that.
  6. Anton not being what we were expecting is the reason I said I WAS, past tense, excited for the gaurd match ups between us. As of right now it is definitely a lopsided matchup unless Gill turns a huge corner in a hurry. My point about Hansen is that he was their only big bodied guy down low. Patton is tall and long but the kids only like 230 soaking wet. And their other forwards are all in the 225 range.
  7. Being that Patton is really their only post player I am taking our trio (Ed, MJ, and Jordy) over him solo. They definitely have the advantage at the gaurd position, I was just stating that before the season I was excited to see the gaurd match up bc they have three really good gaurds and so do we (atleast we thought). Many of us thought Anton would be leading or at least be a second or third leading scorer going in to the season. So far that is not the case which takes a lot of the luster away from that specific matchup.
  8. I'm definitely excited about it. I was really looking forward to the gaurd match up of Tai/ Glynn/ Anton v. Foster/ Watson/ Tazz but since Anton hasn't turned out to be what we were expecting (YET) they will have a decent edge there but we should have the advantage in the post. Should be a fun game. We will be at home and do have some good players so there is for sure a chance we could pull it off.
  9. Anyone else starting to feel alot less worried about the Creighton game. Not saying we will win but man they haven't looked good since their backup center went down. He seems to be the only big bodied guy on their roster. Really slow starts against bad to okay competition (I know Buffalo isn't too shabby of a team). Now of course they have followed up both of those poor first halves with second half blow outs but still I definitely like our chances to to at the very least be leading at half time.
  10. Huskers 68 Clemson 74 If it wasn't for the travel and this being our 4th game in 7 days, I'd pick the Huskers.
  11. The thought of cutting McVeigh and Gill out of the rotation makes me lol. We will need one and more than likely both if we are gonna have any type of success this season.
  12. I love the scoring options from this team. Webster 17 PPG Watson 12 PPG McVeigh 12 PPG Morrow 12 PPG Plus throw in Jacobson and Gill who will both have a few double digit scoring games I'm sure. I like all those options.
  13. Will be a tough game for us. Not only do they have a 7 footer but they have a 6'10 Fr. who is tearing it up too. Hopefully Jordy brings his A game bc it would be nice to get like 15 quality minutes out of him.
  14. Feel like this whole thread should be in the Dayton post game thread...
  15. Sooooo... on to the real question here: what are our chance against UCLA? I watched the first 25 minutes of their game against Portland and wasn't super impressed. High scoring offense but doesn't seem to be much emphasis on defense.
  16. The announcers were basically salivating over Morrow. Plus they had a lot of good things to say about Watson and Webster. It's nice to hear that stuff and it not be the "every team is great and has amazing players" kinda talk they do with losing teams like us. Guess it helps when ya win Good win for us. That last minute was almsot disastrous. Our offense looks amazing when they set it up and don't rush. Fouling on defense was a concern. Plus it seemed like we gave up a lot of Off Reb. Overall I'm glad we got the win can't wait to play UCLA (Portland???) tomorrow.
  17. This is just a tad off topic. But I'd like to point out the growth of our returning players. -McVeigh has tripled his scoring and doubled rebounding. -Morrow has doubled his scoring and rebounding -Glynn has added a couple points and an assist. -Jacobson has added a couple rebounds and is averaging almost two assists and blocks per game. -Tai has added 8 PPG to his scoring average. I know we haven't played any great competition yet, but these are all the same players who struggled against this level of competition last year (like our current freshmen are this year). I'd call that solid player development by the coaching staff.
  18. As of right now, ET has gotten the most minutes off the bench. Which I know has got to be a surprise to everyone, especially if you're like me and thought he'd basically have a Nick Fuller type of role this season. ET was an extremely good pick up considering the circumstances and the timing. Cudos to the coaching staff.
  19. It's been fun watching him grow. Going from a kid many called a bust and wanted to transfer to averaging 18pts 5reb 3asst early on in his senior campaign. Just another example of why we need to be patient with these KIDS.
  20. If Anton truly is a scorer like many of us believe he is, this can only be a good thing for us. We are 3-0 and he has yet to contribute which means he's due BIG TIME. Hopefully has a big game or two in the tourney. That's my positive spin on the situation. Coaches and teammates have got to help him keep his head up until his game comes around.
  21. 8 or 9 wins would be successful to me. It would be nice to steal one from either Clemson, Creighton, or Kansas. If we can pull 9-3 I'd be stoked bc that gives us a really good chance to finish above .500 overall.
