  1. Well my guess is if we are good enough to beat Dayton then we would have at least a fighting chance against anyone else we could face in the tourney.
  2. I just hope he lands at UNO. He could be a really really good player at that lvl.
  3. That is Zay's father who commented above, so I think he's good to go. Good to know, I learn something new everyday on this board.
  4. There is not one person from the sophomore class i do not like. -Watson will be a good scorer and facilitator. He will also provide great PG play which is essential. I think he will be a lead by example type player. -Jacobson will play his natural position but this time with a body that could also play the 5 well. There is a chance he could be a monster. I think he will be a more vocal leader of the team. - Morrow will be a beast now that he is healthy. I think he will be the "enforcer" of the team who plays with a lot of attitude. My vote for most likely to get into scrums and confrontations with the opponents. It's always good to have a little attitude on the team. - McVeigh will be solid from 3 and with a full off season I think he will be a solid rebounder (he was really good overseas and in HS plus he has a 7+ ft wing span). Also has a really high basketball IQ. Is it tip off yet???
  5. Last I heard he was good for lifting, shooting, and light conditioning. That was two to three weeks ago tho. Hopefully the above comment is accurate and he is participating in live scrimmages.
  6. Tough as I think all will be much improved. I'll go with Morrow bc I think there is a chance he averages 10pts 7 reb and a couple blocks. That would be huge for us.
  7. That's what I thought about Andrew White when he said he was taking his name out of the draft and returning to "college basketball". Oh no, I knew we were in trouble then but the optimist in me wouldn't let me believe it.
  8. My guess is he just misused the phrase. We all know Central basketball players aren't required to go to class! I kid I kid... but really.
  9. Anyone have any updates on his recruiting? Still only know of offers from Denver and UNO. I was at South High last week and had heard that Creighton and Iowa State had said they wanted him real bad but it was so late they didn't have room or some bs (this was from faculty members not anyone from the South High coaching staff). I'm 99.9% sure that it is all talk and no actual substance. But wanted to see what everyone else has been hearing.
  10. I also was not making fun of their Sweet 16 expectations. I was using that for an additional reason to why a victory would be even sweeter this year. They and many other ppl think they will be really good so losing to us would just be hilarious.
  11. I would just love to put an early blemish on their record. They are preseason picked to finish 3rd in the BE and a lot of Jays fans are talking Sweet 16 and beyond. So nothing would make me happier to give them a good beatdown.
  12. I can tell you, without any insider information, that deep down what the staff wants most is to win the Wooden Legacy, beat Creighton and then beat KU. I personally would switch around the Wooden Legacy tourney and Creighton. Especially if we could be there first loss of the season.
  13. I did a quick twitter search and he is still a student at UNL.
  14. Would love to pick up a PF/C practice body. Really wish Borchardt would've stayed. I thought he and Trueblood were very high quality walk ons. Speaking of Johnny Trueblood, does anybody know what happened to him? Seemed like he was up in the air between focusing on just academics at UNL or transferring to a smaller division school to maybe get some decent playing time.
  15. I agree which is why I was confused when I read Jacobson was in the mix to start at the 4 (Morrow was not mentioned) and that Morrow would be getting alot of minutes at center.
  16. The logic behind starting Watson, Gill, and Tai is definitely solid bc there is a good chance those could be your 3 best players. Tai off the bench is just my personal preference plus having 3 of your 4 gaurds on the floor worries me bc of foul trouble. But we will find out soon. Thankfully it is sooner than later now.
  17. It seems that we're going to roll with Jordy starting at the 5. Thus, it's either him or Morrow at the 4 and ATM seems like Morrow. Regardless all 3 will see a lot of minutes. I definitely see the reasoning behind that especially since Miles has started bigger centers and not played them a lot (if Jordy isn't ready to average a large amount of minutes).
  18. Jacobson off the bench? Interesting.I'm going with: Watson Gill McVeigh and a front court combo of either MJ/EM or MJ/JT *Roby in for McVeigh if he's healthy and in game shape by the start of the season.
  19. Two years running now, isn't it, Khoock? Not sure about last year, but I for sure remember ppl questioning his ability to play the 4 last year if we ever got a true center. Which I never understood. If you're good enough to play Big 12 football and Big Ten basketball, you're a good athlete. Glad he's on the good guys team.
  20. I never understood why some ppl on here said MJ wasn't a great athlete. You have to be pretty darn athletic to be a P5 D1 recruit in two different sports. And now it turns out that he is the best athlete on the entire team (w/ regards to weight and height)
  21. No idea about his shooting though. He was decent his freshman year and fell off really bad at the JUCO school.
  22. He will 100% definitely contribute more than Laws, considering Laws is a walk on and played all of like 8 min last year. ET is a big, defense first gaurd (think Benny Parker + 8 inches). I doubt he will provide much scoring for us, but I think he will have a role similar to what Nick Fuller had last year: he'll play in most games but minutes will vary depending on his play, foul trouble, injuries, etc. ET is long and pretty athletic (he had the fastest time in one of the lateral quickness drills, can't remember which one it was). Plus if you recall, Miles said he is a team first guy who is willing to make the extra pass, set up teammates, and do the dirty work. So he will definitely have a role on the team. Not a huge one. But for sure a lot larger than Malcolm Laws.
  23. I could be wrong but I believe coach mentioned Morrow here: https://twitter.com/RobinWashut/status/783735260785745920 I meant interesting that he did not mention Morrow as a possibility to start at the 4. If I remember correctly, Morrow wasn't super happy about playing center last year. Maybe that changed since he bulked up and has gotten healthy or maybe Miles was just trying to throw out some extra names. In my head the four spot has always been between Morrow and Jacobson. If Jordy can start at center then MJ prob starts at the 4. If you don't start Jordy then you start both MJ and EM as your front court.
  24. Miles notes that Jacobson, McVeigh, and Roby (when's he's healthy) all have a shot to start at the 4. I find it interesting that he does not mention Morrow.
  25. Anyone else surprised that Fuller was one of the top performers?
