  1. Top150 in 247 sports. He was 143 i believe. Not a consensus Top150 recruit.
  2. We have 8/12 players who were Top150 (by one recruiting service or another) out of high school: -Anton Gill G -Isaac Copeland F -James Palmer G -Glynn Watson G -Jordy Tshimanga C -Isaiah Roby F -Thomas Allen G -Nana Akenten G/F I would guess that, at best, puts us in the middle of the pack of the Big Ten.
  3. If we snag Xavier Johnson i wont be too worried. That fills two ships and if we have the type of season many hope/expect we will be an attractive spot for late bloomers, RS transfer and Grad transfers.
  4. Hopefully he bounces back well. The more competition for practice the better.
  5. I mean if you know players by first and last name... initials should be pretty easy to figure out right? Its not like football where we have 80+ man rosters.
  6. Ive kinda been thinking 18-13 (9-9) plus however we fare in the Big Ten tourney. Good performance there would get us in. Poor showing sends us to the NIT.
  7. Fair enough. Personally i just cant place a post season tourney as the floor for a coach/team that has only done it once in five years.
  8. Seems like in games when he didnt score much or well he still put up solid rebound and assist numbers. I like to see players that still affect the game when theyre not scoring much.
  9. I'd be pretty darn excited for an NIT berth. That means we won more than we lost which hasnt been the case lately.
  10. I was hoping back breaking departures covered AW3 transfer, Petteway draft decision, and Walt retiring.
  11. IDEALLY i want it to look like this: -PG: Glynn Watson --> Thomas Allen -SG: James Palmer --> Nana Akenten --> Thomas Allen -SF: Isaiah Roby --> Jack McVeigh --> Nana Akenten -PF: Isaac Copeland --> Jack McVeigh -C: Jordy Tshimanga --> Duby Okeke *ET and Nana could be switched. I went with Nana bc he has better size and athleticism. Though he might be a drop off in defense he would provide more shooting (also lets remember ET is not an elite defender more a spirited and effortful one). *Not everyone is gonna play. Miles will cut his rotation down to 9 maybe even 8 guys a handful of games into the season. I think the top 8 are pretty close to solidified. Nana and ET will battle it out for the 9th spot. Sorry Anton, TB, and Thor but i dont see it happening for ya this year.
  12. I think we've been better than what our record shows the past three years (maybe you exclude 15-16). But thats a trend imo, regularly underperforming. Now im a big Tim Miles fan so i chalk it up to injuries and back breaking departures. -2014-15: lack of post presence --> injuries to Leslee Smith and Moses Abraham had us relying on Walt (whose commitment and motivation was very hit and miss), Shavon, and Rivers to man our front court for chunks of the season. -2015-16: like i said this year could be excluded from the underperforming years bc of all the freshmen we were relying on. But once again, Shavon's concussion came at a time when i thought we were peaking and meshing well as a team. -2016-17: preseason injuries hit us hard with Gill and Roby missing significant time. Those two were both reinjured to different severities during the season. Ed's foot problem flared up again. And we ended the season on another downward spiral. Now this season seems to be trending in the right direction with the late addition of Thomas Allen and the Isaac Copeland ruling going our way. Schedule sets up nice for some quality wins and a big finish. My hope is Miles has gotten all of his bad breaks out of the way and this season we shine. And we shine very very bright.
  13. To be fair i thought the same thing last year and we ended up winning 4 less games total. So i will wait and see. Definetly excited for the season tho.
  14. Interesting how much both Copeland and Palmer regressed in 3pt shooting from FR to SO year. I think both were upper 30's freshman year and then dipped to upper 20's their sophomore year.
  15. My guess is Glynn, Jordy, and Copeland for sure. I would assume Zay is also in the conversation but could also see it being Allen or Palmer or maybe even Jack in that top 4 discussion
  16. Just my humble opinion that is subject to change as more information surfaces.
  17. So many ands, ifs, and buts. Cant wait for the season to start. My player rankings are now: 1. Watson 2. Jordy 3. Copeland 4. Zay 5. Palmer 6. Jack 7. Allen 8. Duby 9. ET 10. Nana 11. Tanner 12. Gill 13. Thor *Could easily flip Nana/ET and Jack/Allen im just cautious with freshmen.
  18. In an interview Miles said he thinks Isaac Copeland can be one of our top three or four players. Hopefully that says more about the talent on our team than the talent of Copeland.
  19. Ive heard Nick Bahe (obvious Creighton homer) say Kaleb Joseph isnt as good as one might think/hope. Over the summer on his radio show he said he's not the type of impact player at point they were hoping for. Looks like it might be Davion Mintz at PG. Obviously things could have and still can change since then. But either way Foster and Thomas will be a very formidable duo. Khyri will be able to extremely limit our first scoring option in the back court. So hopefully our predictions of scoring depth are true. Should defintely have a big advantage in the post imo. But like stated earlier, lets not get ahead of ourselves. And i realized i got carried away so feel free to move this to an appropriate thread.
  20. But, more importantly, all three seem to have good mass and strength to bang down low. Did Palmer drop about 5lbs? Thought he was listed at 215 last year. Roby has added the weight and strength to be the real deal this year.
  21. If Duby and TB had another inch or two we'd have a real good looking group of centers with them and Jordy.
  22. Personally, i think we take one or the other, Roberts, and some type of transfer.
  23. Thought that team sounded familiar
  24. One thing i like about the schedule is that, aside from Kansas, Copeland will have a few games against lesser competition to shake off some rust from sitting out and recovering from his back injury. Hopefully he's eligible from the start.
  25. If Duby and TB are both able to provide solid and productive minutes as centers with the lvl of competition presented on our schedule, then i dont think we use any 4/5 swing players. I'd much rather throw a 240+ center out there then a 225ish forward to play the 5. Now this all goes out the window if Duby or TB arent able to produce, but if they are i think the minutes are made up entirely by Jordy, Duby, and TB: -Jordy starts -Duby gets all the back up min -Tanner subs in when needed for injuries/ foul trouble
