  1. I would take him if we could get him. We are a body short at the 4/5 spots. Seems like he could play both in a backup role
  2. Especially with the immediate need for another center. Duby will graduate and Jordy would be an upperclassmen when the '18 class arrives. Grab a JUCO or Grad transfer big to back up Jordy and pair him with Heiman so he can redshirt. Thats what i would like to see.
  3. I wasnt surprised with Robys performance at all. What'd he miss like 3+ months in the preseason? And then rolled his ankle pretty good midseason if i remember right.
  4. Im hoping the "getting some guys healthy" is just referring to Copeland (back) and Gill's (knee) rehab from surgery.
  5. Lastly, i have not seen a single soul on this message board who has said Benny Parker was a better basketball player then Glynn Watson...
  6. If i recall correctly Glynn got off to a slow start his freshman season and wasnt that spectacular. Being that Miles watches them practice everyday im sure he knew that Glynn was not ready to start at the beginning of the season.
  7. You dont start kids just to please their ego. If Thomas Allen is the better option over James Palmer, Evan Taylor, Anton Gill, and Nana Akenten then im sure Miles will have no problem starting him. Thats alot of depth, talent, and experience to overcome but if he truly is better than all of them he will start.
  8. Watson > Allen ET/Gill = Nana McVeigh < Palmer Roby < Copeland Jordy > Duby I'd say Red 7-3. I give slight edges to Palmer and Copeland while Watson and Jordy have sizeable advantages imo.
  9. Good article about Glynn Watson in the LJS. Interesting note was that it said Glynn and Thomas Allen have been playing on the same team in practices recently. Idk how they run summer practices but is it similiar to regular season practice? If so i'd assume that means Allen is currently in the starting rotation. Or are they simply just trying out different lineups, anybody know?
  10. Ive got Jack as my 6th man. And Allen and Nana in my top 9 for the rotation. If Duby can duplicate his best season at Winthrop (4.9pts, 4.8reb, 2.5blk) i'd be estatic. Hopefully he establishes a role and excels. Maybe better coaching and better competition will bring the best out of him. Still see Jordy as a lock to start tho.
  11. If we got all three... we would still have two scholarships to use on bigs!
  12. True and we have 5 scholarships for next cycle. Plus Jack and Copeland will be seniors by the time he arrived if he committed.
  13. Im much more interested in him if he plays the 4/5. We dont really need a SF at the moment with Copeland, Roby, McVeigh, Nana, and Palmer all on the roster.
  14. -Id like Embery and Hunter for gaurds this class -We need another F with Jack, Copeland, and Roby all being upperclassmen by the time this class arrives. Wouldnt mind seeing how Wingett does in prep school. Plus with the aforementioned depth, he could RS. -Brady Heiman. Give him a yr to RS. -Some JUCO/Grad Transfer C to back up Jordy
  15. In his twitter bio he says he is a small forward.
  16. This is the best time of the year to be optimistic bc nobody can prove youre wrong!
  17. Agreed. I think all the competition will take place between the 2 through 4 positions.
  18. I see no reason to be unconventional when we will have a (what i expect to be) center is that the real deal and top half in the conference. However, with our lack of depth at the 5 i could definetly see us doing what you are talking about for spurts of the game. I'd like to see what problems a lineup of Watson, Allen/Nana/Gill ??, McVeigh, Roby, and Copeland could cause.
  19. With the departures of Ed and Jacobson, nobody is starting at center over Jordy.
  20. Seriously. Can anyone clarify this for me, are we just waiting on the NCAAs response to the appeal or are we still waiting on the admin and staff to file the appeal???
  21. Its based off of my perceived contributions and importance to the team. Things like these are fun to do before you know, for the simple fact that nobody knows how the newcomers will be or how the returnees will improve. Waiting until midseason takes away the fun of opinions and guess work. I like to look back and reflect to see how accurate i was.
  22. Thought it would be fun to do a ranking of our roster based on contribution and importance for this upcoming season. 12. 6'3 Sr Anton Gill: He has been plagued with injuries since he arrived, his last one being his worst. Now he has to bounce back and try and grab minutes in a crowded back court with a lot of experience and potential. Im not as optimistic as some are. However, Gill could easily be the biggest mistake of my predictions. 11. 6'8 Jr Tanner Borchardt: There will be games where Tanner is needed to play a few meaningful minutes, but for the most part he will be on mop up duty. He gets the nod over Gill bc I am more confident in the depth at gaurd then i am at center. But lets not forget that he was a D1 football recruit, state champion shot putter, and C-1 All-State in basketball. He's definitely not a scrub when it comes to walkons. Plus being 270+ helps. 10. 6'5 Sr Evan Taylor: Another casualty of the new trio of gaurds (Palmer, Nana, Allen). Taylor provided some big minutes for us last year and solid defense. He's a grinder, but the farther down the depth chart he falls the better that probably spells for us. He doesnt ooze the natural basketball talent that some of the newcomers do. 9. 6'6 Fr Nana Akenten: His three point shooting (50% his sr. year of hs) and athleticism (winner of multiple dunk contests) will give him a shot at playing time. If he can limit defensive mistakes he should find himself in a regular part of the rotation. However, we know freshmen dont tend to have long leashes under Miles. 8. 6'8 Sr Duby Okeke: He gets the nod over Nana mainly bc of postion. Im skeptical of how he will translate into the Big Ten, but if we want to have a successful season we need a QUALITY 12-15 minutes from him. His shot blocking ability and length give me hope. Unfortunately, I lose sleep over his injury history and proneness to fouls. 7. 6'1 Fr Thomas Allen: Deemed as one of the top 5 three point shooters out of high school, he should have a role right away as a shooter and Glynn's back up. If he can hold his own on the defensive end he may have one of the better freshmen campaigns under Miles along with Glynn and Shavon. 6. 6'8 Jr Jack McVeigh: Miles loves his upperclassmen. And we desperately need his stroke from deep. More consistency from 3 and a little bit more strength and Jack will be good to go. He should see plenty of minutes at both forward spots. Hes got the right mentality and enough talent where he will find playing time. 5. 6'6 Jr James Palmer: We weathered the academically ineligible storm. I see Palmer locking down a starting spot (my guess is SG). I see him contributing mainly through scoring. He is a decent threat from deep and can hopefully negate some of Tai's slashing ability that we lost. Expect a solid season from him. 4. 6'8 So Isaiah Roby: Our swiss army knife. I dont expect Roby to be called upon to score too much (still think he will double his output from freshman year) but he will impact the game in many ways. I predict he will average atleast one steal, assist, and block to go along with his scoring and rebounding. 3. 6'9 Jr Isaac Copeland: His health and eligibility are crucial to our team. If we have a sophomore version of him for a full season, our post season chances increase significantly. Im tabbing him as a starter and our second leading scorer. 2. 6'11 So Jordy Tshimanga: His growth is crucial to our success. Not only will he help man our defense but with so little proven depth behind him, he has to be able to increase him minutes by 60+% from last year. Depending on our win total, he is my sleeper for the Big Ten's Most Improved Player. 1. 6'0 So Glynn Watson: This was a no brainer for me. I expect Watson to lead us in scoring, assists, steals, and minutes. The biggest thing I want to see from him is leadership. Enjoy.
  23. So probably 4 cupcake games + 1 winnable but somewhat challenging game ( ~ LA Tech last year)???
  24. I have no idea. I just know the NCAA isnt always speedy so i feel like the earlier we get it in the better. Hopefully they are just building a bullet proof case.
  25. G Glynn Watson 6'0 Jr G James Palmer 6'6 Jr F Isaiah Roby 6'8 So F Isaac Copeland 6'9 Jr C Jordy Tshimanga 6'11 So
