  1. I appreciate his enthusiasm, but I fail to see how our resume is better than or even close to Kentucky's.Parrish breaks it all down in the interview. Sorry, but I'm not going to type out the entire interview on here. I will post it when the radio station does. It will probably be a couple hours or so...
  2. (@GaryParrishCBS) Great interview talking about Nebraska's chances of making the NCAA Tourney! He compares Nebraska's resumé to other teams like Kentucky, Wichita St, etc. He says that (if you dont look at the name on the front of the jersey) Nebraska's resumé is better than Kentucky's. "Nebraska doesn't have to do anything that they haven't already shown they are capable of doing earlier this season". It's not like Nebraska's schedule for these next 6 games is as difficult as their first 5 Big Ten games The link hasn't been posted yet, but when it is, I will add it to this post.
  3. It could be worse. This is another Big Ten team with comparable bball success (or lack there of). Could it be better? Yes. Could it be worse? Yes
  4. Also, I'm pretty sure PBA sold out season tickets, but the actual attendance has only been in the 11,000ish range. So maybe your energy should be directed at the thousands of fans (outside of the student section) that haven't even bothered to show up for these games, rather than calling out the student section that you don't think is loud enough.
  5. Well, you have 20 active posts...So, did you really create an account to call out the student section? Seems kind've troll-ish to me... The students (just like the rest of the fans) respond to the product on the floor in front of them. When the quality of play is poor, then the fans reaction is affected. When the quality of opponent is poor, then the fans reaction is affected. A less-than-electric atmosphere is not specific to the student section. It's what happens. I'm fairly confident that the student section (as well as the rest of the crowd) will be jacked and electric for the Big Ten portion of the schedule...
  6. Yeah. He might have just gotten caught up in the moment while on his visit. Robin Washut thinks he will still take his visit to Nebraska. That means that the staff needs to make sure it's for a big game, so the atmosphere is electric. Rutgers played UNCG this weekend. I can't imagine that crowd was very impressive. I would think that the atmosphere at Pinnacle Bank Arena for the games vs Michigan, Ohio St, Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, and Wisconsin would all be more impressive than Rutgers vs UNCG...
  7. Whittington played in 33 games as a freshman at Georgetown.
  8. I dont know norm. We were one of hammonds first officials(I think the very first?), and he committed on the spot and isn't taking any more visits. Based on what we can see, things might be looking better for creighton than us. -He just visited NU and CU a couple months ago, and Creighton is the first place he wanted to go back to. -We have no official set up with him that we know of. -We have Smith coming in 9 days who is the same size and position as gilmore. I disagree. None of us know whether or not he has plans to visit Nebraska. My guess would be that Tim Miles thinks that Nebraska's chances of landing Gilmore are much better, if Gilmore visits Lincoln to watch a basketball game in a sold out brand new arena when a team like FGCU or Miami comes to town, rather than if he were to come to town to watch a soccer game... Or maybe Miles thinks it would be good to have him visit Lincoln for a sold out Memorial Stadium for the UCLA or Michigan St game. Honestly, I would much rather Nebraska have Gilmore visit for a football or basketball game than visit right now. Especially for a soccer game...
  9. yes. Would you rather have both zach and david as a package deal, or take our chances of getting either gilmore or bolden? I would rather go after Gilmore and Bolden. I would not make Zach Smith's offer committable, unless Gilmore completely eliminates Nebraska. I think Gilmore is a better player as well as the fact that he gives Nebraska future recruiting connections to Anderson in the 2015 class and Janacek in the 2016 class. I would like to see Nebraka exhaust all possibilities with Gilmore and Bolden, before moving on to anyone else.
  10. I'm pretty sure that @hunterjanacek has a picture of himself with the rest of the "Texas Trio" taking their tour of the inside of Pinnacle Bank Arena posted as his Twitter profile header. Could be good news. Could mean nothing. But I would think that Nebraska sitting well with one member of the "Texas Trio" helps their chances with the other two. At this point, I think Nebraska is sitting pretty well with all three of them.
  11. Okay, its a slow day, so I'll play along.1) Yes, you are opening a new arena. New arenas don't usually make teams better, but I get the excitement. I felt the same way when Creighton moved to the Qwest and again when they expanded the arena a couple of years later. 2) Yes, you've sold out the arena which is certainly a positive. I would suggest to you that Creighton will have at least as many season ticket holders as Nebraska this year though and CU's overall attendance will certainly be higher. Is it true that upper bowl tickets at your new arena were only $4 per game? If so, that is a remarkable bargain and if they couldn't sell out with that steal of a deal, they probably should have never moved the program out of Devaney. 3) You said, "Which team has had multiple articles written about them this summer by national writers?" For this one, I can only assume that you are more of a football fan that follows basketball secondarily. I say that because one would be hard pressed to find many articles this "summer by national writers" that did not mention Doug McDermott and Creighton. You may be getting more coverage than you did the past few years, but you are getting nowhere near the national publicity that Creighton is getting merely due to the fact that Creighton has a returning all-american and preseaon candidate for POY on its roster. 4) I don't know that I'd necessarily use the term "stole", but you did get him to come to Lincoln and it was a very big hire. Congratulations as I admit this was a big deal. By way of comparison, I'd point out that Creighton brought in a former assistant to the national championship UConn team under Jim Calhoun. Parties can obviously disagree as to which was the bigger hire, but a truly objective person would find it pretty hard to say that Nebraska's hire was overwhelmingly superior. 5) I haven't counted, but I will take your word for it as to the number of sweet sixteen participants that you have coming to your arena. I don't understand however, how that makes Nebraska a better team. It sounds more like you are boasting about the accomplishments of your opponents than about your own team's accomplishments. If you wish to compare however, depending how the MTE schedule turns out, Creighton could play 8 NCAA tourney teams from last year in just the noncon, with another several occurring in the conference schedule. Plus, Creighton knows that every Big East team will be playing in Omaha as the league has a double round robin schedule. I completely understand your enthusiasm. I do believe, however, you are letting preseason excitement, which comes in a time in which there are zero results yet, is causing you to make some hyperbolic statements. I suspect that those statements derive more from a certain ignorance about the state of the Creighton program rather than from a well researched analysis. Frankly, I think you worry too much about Creighton in your posts and really should focus more on your program itself. Either way, I wish you the best of luck this season (except for a certain game in Omaha, which will certainly be a sellout). Response to your #1: The new arena was already listed as a reason that Jacob Hammond (ESPN 4-Star #22 Center in the country, Rivals150) committed to Nebraska. Here is an article titled "Hammond sold after seeing new arena": http://m.journalstar.com/sports/huskers/mens-basketball/article_693b7b54-046b-11e3-8c37-0019bb2963f4.html?mobile_touch=true Response to your #3: There have been multiple articles about Nebraska basketball written by national columnists that have been posted on this site. Response to your #4: I already destroyed you on this topic of which is the better hire in another thread, so I'm not going to spend alot of time on it again. There is a reason that Hunter was the longest tenured assistant at Georgetown when Nebraska hired him, while Creighton's hire was from Hofstra when they hired him. Gary Parish doesn't use 'stole', but he did write this article "Yes, Nebraska is now taking assistants from Georgetown". This was one of the multiple articles written over the last year about Nebraska basketball by a national media member... "the Hunter-to-Nebraska development is wild, mostly because it means Nebraska just poached an assistant from Georgetown. And while it would be easy to question how Georgetown could let that happen, I think a better use of this space would be to highlight exactly what's going on in Lincoln. Simply put, this is not your grandfather's Nebraska. Or your father's Nebraska. Or even your older brother's Nebraska. The Big Ten school opened a new $20 million basketball practice facility in October 2011, will open a new $179 million basketball arena this season, and is paying second-year coach Tim Miles a salary that'll eventually exceed $2 million annually, which brings me to Hunter and his salary. A source told CBSSports.com that it'll be $230,000 a year, and that all three Huskers assistants now make at least $200,000 a year. So while Nebraska is still quite obviously a "football" school, the administration has made it clear it thinks there's no reason basketball can't operate at a high level, too. Will it? We'll see. But the school is undeniably investing properly. And that's almost always the first step toward something great." http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/22385197/yes-nebraska-is-now-taking-assistants-from-georgetown I don't remember, but was a similar article written by a national columnist titled "Yes, Creighton is now taking assistants from Hofstra"? I imagine the only praise that hire received was from the bluejay-goggle-wearing-local-Omaha media...putting the bluejay spin on the hire, to appease the local Creighton fans... Response to your last paragraph: "Frankly, I think you worry too much about Creighton in your posts and really should focus more on your program itself." Hahahahahahaha. This is quite possibly the most ridiculous statement I've ever read on HHC. You are telling me that I worry too much about Creighton and I should focus more on my own team. Haha. That's coming from a dbag Creighton Fan that is so worried about Nebraska basketball, instead of their own team, that they feel the need to continuously troll a Husker message board. I'm here at a Husker message board to talk about the Huskers. Maybe you should take your own advice, go back to your mid-major Creighton basketball site, and worry about your own team, instead of trolling on a Husker board. If there really were bigger and better things going on in the wonderful world of Creighton basketball, then you would be occupied posting about those things on a Creighton message board.
  12. +1. This schedule is solid. The NonConference schedule is one of the better ones in the last decade or so. I believe Nebraska will end up with a top 30 schedule nationally and an RPI of 75 or higher.
  13. Bolden hasn't even said anything publically about Nebraska to indicate we are a contender. The article about him brought up an interesting connection, but it is just speculation. I think he is going to be a guy who is out of our league.Either way, we won't lose out on him due to not having a spot. If he wanted to choose Nebraska (a gigantic if), he would have a spot. Bolden hasn't said anything publicly that I'm aware of. He hasn't said publicly that Louisville is a contender and he hasn't said publicly that Michigan is a contender either. So, as of now, I'm not going to let these facts rule us out of the equation. He's not out of our league. He's not out of the equation just yet. Maybe when he finally does speak, and we get some more information, we will learn that Bolden isn't really looking to come here. Who knows? But for now we know that Nebraska has offered him a scholarship. We know that Harriman does have the connected with Bolden's father. And we know that Robin wrote an article with the title: "Huskers among leaders for Aussie standout Bolden". You don't pen that title without Nebraska at least being in the equation. For now.Great post ajb5856
